    I can imagine Chris Squire giving Alan big welcome hug in heaven and saying:
    "There's Lemmy here and Neil Peart. Recently Vangelis and Klaus Shulze came in... even a goodfella Ray Liotta joined in a minute ago. You'll meet all guys later, but now let's go straight to the studio in basement - i have to play you a couple ideas"

I mean, the list is so long it's depressing. I apologize for being so negative, but it's just sad. These were my heroes, members of a time that won't come back. If you have heard John Lennon's "Imagine", then that's your intro to Alan White. He is the drummer on that song. He's had a storied career as a solid, reliable, crafty and beloved drummer with many artists but most notably Yes.
      A skilled pro, he knew when to showcase chops, knew when to let the band have their moment. He's been a topic of great debate as some felt he didn't live up to what original drummer Bill Bruford did before Alan joined but honestly, they are 2 different styles of drummers and without Alan, we wouldn't have many of the mammoth classics Yes would go on to release after Bruford left.
      I imagine many will recommend Relayer or Tales from Topographic Oceans to hear Alan's best work and while not near as technical of a release, I'd have to throw in Yes' Going for the One album as it has one of their finest pieces in a song called Awaken.
      Do check out Alan's work. He was fantastic.

I recall him wearing a sleeveless jump suit sitting in his drummer’s turret (so to speak) in the middle of an incredibly elaborate Yes Relayer stage setup while delivering an absolutely crushing performance. He was in his mid to late 20s and had to be in terrific shape to be able to play so well and with so much energy. Time obviously took it’s toll on him as it does with all of us. Alan White played on Instant
    Karma with John Lennon Plastic Ono Band.
    George Harrison All Things Must Past.
    Tasteful and Solid.
    And Carved his Place with YES.
    Listen to Relayer .
    He replaced big shoes Bill Bruford.
    He did just fine.
    Sad to here losing another Legend .
    R.I.P. Alan .
    To your family and loved ones.
    YES Community will always remember you.
    REST PEACEFULLY. 🙏🙏🙏

    Cheers Pete. Thank you for that nice tribute. I am privileged enough to have been Alan’s friend. One of nicest, humblest guys you ever meet. Loved talking music, sports and family. The drums alone on Sound Chaser are amazing but also he wrote one of Yes most beautiful songs Turn of the Century. Shared a Newcastle Brown with him last week. Peace to his family. High vibration go on…

    Thanks for the great tribute to Alan. He was a massive influence on me when Yessongs came out. His style and "rock" attitude mixed with the complexity of Yes resonated with me more than Bill Bruford's approach. I unfortunately only got to see Yes in 2014, when Alan was clearly struggling to get through the set and had very little of his previous power and attack. There seems to be very little video of Alan in his prime which is a great shame. Even the Yessongs video has almost no camera time of Alan. He was truly a great drummer and musician, who not only played with some the most iconic musicians in history, but was greatl at what he did whether it was straight 4 or complex prog, Sad day indeed.

    • @smilanesi98
      @smilanesi98 2 роки тому +1

      Indeed. If you got to see him back in the day as I did so many times he sparkled on stage. He had a touching youthful smile. Fans really lit up when they got to see him get up at the end of a night and bow with the band. Then you really knew who he was

    • @bumzigan
      @bumzigan 2 роки тому

      @@smilanesi98 No doubt he would have been incredible to witness live back in the day. I was glued to the photos of Alan in Yessongs. He just looked totally cool and vibed. I saw a drum solo he did in 2009 on youtube and even then he was still pretty amazing.
