My buddies vega is hard enough to work on with a small block. cant imagine having a big block in one. his is a 1972 406 sbc with 14:1 cr mechanical roller aluminum heads. car is pretty quick
Actually...have my own Machine Shop and can make whatever is on my mind...hehehe...on HAAS!!! Just love em :-) you guys have fun and keep the good work up...greetings from Germany
Youre welcome! I live in Pforzheim which is somewhere southwest of Stuttgart.I have never heard of something like Baumholder, but there used to be many US-Facilities in Germany back then. But in this context i have to say thank you to all service peronell in the Army for fighting for the right things!!Without you,the world would be a dark place.Unfortunatelly, many people dont understand this. I lived in Charleston,SC,between 2004 and 2008...where are you located?
I am in Oregon, near Portland somewhat. I agree with you on the military personell, I will tell my dad for you. What kind of parts do you make on your Haas? We do a lot of motorcycle parts, foot shifter assemblies, etc. We also do ball end mill engraving on a lot of sheet metal products, Giant wedler nozzles that are top secret prototype but the machining process is a pretty interesting 5-op.
I've never understood myself.i drop in distributors in all my friends cars they always fire up and I always joke about how I should of been moving the distributor when i was cranking it because everybody else does.
It has been a long project. It runs great now, and the transmission needed gone through but it moves under its own power now. We put on the rear wing and parachute. Not too much left.
Point the distributer at the #1 cylinder and youll get a easy fire up every time. That does not mean it is timed you know cause you gotta get the distributer set right, and you still have to tune the carb
Thank you sir! Appreciate the good words. Where you at in Germany? I have been to Munich, and my dad was stationed over there somewhere during Vietnam war but can't remember the place. Baumholder? Something like that.
Never start an engine this way! Always set timing to baseline then fire let come up to operating temp keep an eye on oil and water temp shut down check head bolts and manifold again reset valves and make sure your timing is dialed in! Then go after carb adjustments! Too much money not to adjust the right way!
I’m a Mopar guy but I love those V8 Vegas .one day I’ll get one
out standing, my favorite car ever! keep it between the ditches boys!
Thanks bro for the nice comment! We will rev it hard in your name!
ROCK FORTH!
How come you didnt prime the oil pump? We just brake down a stock distributor drop it in prime it with a drill and pull it out
I had one I never finished, life got in the way. 12 point cage , narrowed 9 inch painted light blue.
....Love my '72 " ViciouSS Vega " !!!!!

@3:30: "We leakin' anywhere??" Yep... your wallet.
First pass down the strip should be break in! Sweet big block tho
YOU GUYS DIDNT BREAK THE CAM IN RIGHT. SHOULD HAVE RUN IT 2500RPM FOR 20 MIN
Steve Babich Its a mechanical roller not a hydraulic, no breakin required.
What size motor?
No roller, flat tappet, why?
why can people not learn to static time an engine?
C'mon it's more fun loosing eyebrows and popping acel pumps... quotes Dr.Magneto

Oil pump was hitting the main cap bolt. 80 PSI now and a new quick fuels carb.
Jon Manire what oil pump was used?
Radical...did u guys ever get it running, what it do?
My first car: 1973 Vega
It has been a long project. It runs great now, and the transmission needed gone through but it moves under its own power now. We put on the rear wing and parachute. Not too much left.

More to it than that the pickup has to be lined up and the engine needs to be a little before tdc
Did anybody notice the valves or not set when he took the valve cover off the right side of the motor it is clearly visible
Why didn't you guys just find TDC on #1, and time it at 0 degrees for the first start?
Because even that's not a guarantee to get it to fire on the first try correctly. It is better than this but it's no gaurantee
When in storage fog the motor and back off on the valve springs! Car sits on stands not springs
thats my dream car

Yeah you need anything made? :)
I cringed when they lifted the valve covers and didn't see any oil flow.😂
There clearly was oil flowing along the lower valve cover rail.
what kind of builder can't see the oil pump hitting the main cap bolt really
there...@ 5:50 ... its a HAAS !!!
This guy
He’s ku ku
HAHA does granny know what she is talking about?

Dominanter detention
Yeah no joke there! Big huge leak in the wallet.

It will run better if you dont paint it BLUE!!
