Great to see Talisman out at sea in this episode, nice little "shakedown" test of the boat and yourselves, you both seem to be gaining in confidence and working the solutions as problems occur (which obviously they will), very impressed with the rigging tweaks to stabilize the mast, could really tell that you both enjoyed the trip and the sunset while at anchor was really special (wish i was there #boatLife).
It definitely makes you keep your wits about you being on a boat! In a good way though. Problem solving, adapting, challenges - it all keeps it interesting and I think is a big draw to this way of life if you're looking for a bit of an adventure. Yep, we had no idea how important rigging being tuned was before this! Glad we know now. Aww, yeah. Sunsets at anchor are so special :) Glad you were there with us on video at least!
I would keep just a scrap of foresail up, gives you more control. I think you don’t lead your reefing lines back to the cockpit, what you should consider is a down haul line led back, plus the main halyard, means you can ensure the main can be dropped into your stacker
Hey, thats such a good shout! I think when we winter im going to look in to something like this if I can. There are a few things we would like to change over winter so we will see what we can get done 😁. Thank you for the recommendation
Love watching your stuff. So refreshing.....However the adventure is...it's great you have each other for the great times....Good to see you off East Head in Chichester with good pasta. Have a bit of a dance why doncha!!
Aw thank you so much! Really glad you're enjoying our journey so far. Yes, we definitely feel so lucky that we found someone to share the journey with 😊. Chichester was lovely, especially having the place to ourselves! Always pasta ready onboard Talisman 😋
Hi guys, hope your well! Only just coming across your channel as was looking to buy a stag 28 and your videos popped up. Now I'm hooked haha! Just playing catch up bit, looking forward to your story. Stay safe.
Hey Jason! Wow that's awesome, great boat choice may we say 😉 thanks so much, really glad you're enjoying the videos so far! Let us know if you want any info about the Stag 😁 all our best, Jade & Brynn
@@markdove3577 I do enjoy a bit of electronics 😅. Im no electrician but I have my rules for electronics. I dont mind taking my time with it either haha its therapeutic 😌.
When you get the rigging checked out, make sure to do a final check under way, The leeward shrouds should be just tight enough not to feel loose with a decent breeze. And when you have it dialed in, get some monel seizing wire on all the adjustables and screwed fittings to stop them undoing. I failed to do this one time and found my rig had totally unwound itself, so much so that one bottle screw had unscrewed completely. I was lucky not to lose the rig, (learning experience xxx000000 n).
This is brilliant advice thank you 😊. I will soon be getting a rigger to go over it and once were moving i'll do as you say. It's something I want to get more confident with for sure. Thanks for the comment 👍
I’ve watched your videos a little jumbled but it’s good to see you guys in your adventure. Fair plays to you! I’ll subscribe and after watching the rest I’ll eagerly await the updates every week. 👍⛵️⚓️ Warren
the sound cut out a few times when jade was talking. is that a sound issue or did you say something naughty? good vid. seems like you had a great time. be safe with that rigging xxx
Ahh no, unfortunately that's just the sound cutting out after uploading to UA-cam, very annoying haha. Thanks a lot, we did have a great time and all is good with the rigging now ☺️ xx
Yayyyy! We are so excited to see you back in the water :) We are always happy to help and learn from each other. We are all in the same boat... even though we are not 😂
Really love the pasta portions, we're here for it! Also, so great to see you out sailing and actually spending a night on anchor! Great video and can't wait for the next one x
Glad you enjoyed 😊 unfortunately we've found ourselves with no place for them due to solar panels etc. But we have a rescue sling out, and we have a lifebouy in the most accessible cockpit locker (plus a fender) and we do also have a PLB each and an Epirb 👍
Hi whereabouts are you guys now ,,,are you still heading to the med I’m in aguadulce would love to meet up Almeríamar is relatively cheap compared to anywhere else
Hey, we're currently in Falmouth, Cornwall. We're still planning to head to the Med 😊 probably mid July. Ah that's good to know, will definitely be looking for somewhere cheap when we get to spain 👍
@@ChasingCurrents ok, you might be interested that I have seen brain coral in Plymouth sound whilst diving. What is that doing there? and safe trip down to Cornwall, we are doing the same in August.
Thats very interesting 🤔, I haven't heard of anything like that in the UK before. If we get chance I'll go for a dip and see what we can see around there 😁. Where are you sailing from?
@@ChasingCurrents We sail out of Gosport, but used to dive Plymouth quite regularly. Whether small baby corals came in on a yacht or ship and kind of liked the sound I don't know, but it was a surprise. Plymouth sound does warm up much more quickly than the Solent so may be just tolerable for them. Mind you we have seen 19'c around the IOW during the late summer. Mentioned it because I watched one of your early vlogs and saw you did a Masters so thought it would be interesting.
Absolutely this is super interesting 😁. Ill be keeping an eye out when free diving in the south west now for none native corals 😅. We have a friend in gosport at the minute, its not to far from where we are now 😊. We do also hope to maybe do one dive in the UK this summer before we leave but depends how much time we have.
Why do I love your channel..? I do because you are so "normal"! Meaning that in the best possible way..👌👌I'm not fan of channels that is "build" om the theme "most bikini"... So thanks a lot for a really good channel!!👌✌️⛵⚓ (Sorry if my english is not the best). Se are going around the world july 2022...from Denmark! Alle the best to you..✌️
Aww thank you so much for the lovely comment ☺️ really glad that you're enjoying our channel! Wow sounds like an amazing adventure, wish you all the luck for it ☺️ all our best, Jade & Brynn
Hey guys I noticed you're using a rocna anchor. What are your thoughts on it and what is the weight of it? I live on a 28ft sailboat myself and thinking about buying a couple sizes larger anchor than required. May go with rocna or similar type. Thanks for any reply in advance
Hey, ours is 10kg. Its been absolutely brilliant. One thing we didn't think about before buying is if it would fit on our bow roller and it could do with a longer roller to keep the anchor from hitting the bow. So might be worth checking that. But for its performance its been very good and we have held well in high winds as well as turning tides. I hope this has helped a little, thanks for commenting 🙂
Great video guys. I am having doubts about putting my B&G Vulcan flush with the bulkhead. Maybe thinking of a mount instead. What are your thoughts? Are you happy with it? Thanks 🙏
Hey, I think its down to preferences. We dont really have a good second option so it was what was best for us. The permanence of doing it this way is a little daunting though, I think either a nav pod or maybe on the coach roof under the spay hood could also be a good option. We haven't had any issues with ours being flush mounted so were happy with how its worked for us so far. What options are you thinking for mounting yours? Hope you're both well 😊
@@ChasingCurrents thanks. I think it’s cos I’ve spent ages repairing the fibreglass of the bulkhead haha. Concerned that I may be difficult to see in the sun. Considered like a scanstrut type one. Pricey though. I do like the clean look of being in the bulk head. So many decisions to make haha 😂 👍 thanks hope to catch up with you soon
Haha it takes me a week at least to decide on things like this 😅. We haven't had any problems with the sun causing issues viewing the panel so far if that helps 😊. I do like the scanstrut ones to, but as you mentioned the clean look does look good haha. Yes hope to catch up with you guys, take care 🙂

cool to see talisman out in the waves!
