Always good to have a can of ether. The turbo Detroits have a lower compression ratio and don't start as well in cold. I did a lot of bus work in Canada, Quebec in winter -20 or colder if you couldn't get plugged in we left them run all night. A hotbox or something similar would be a good addition.

I'm going to add a block heater. And keep a can of ether.

@@savingmiller That's because ur fuel gauge isn't working. U should travel at least 1000 miles before fill-up.

Probably Detroit mechanical fuel pump on front of engine or fuel line check valve on return line to fuel tank ! I had this identical problem.

They actually put a nice electric pump on this one. But.....I don't know if the lines were frozen or not. I suspect they were and then thawed mid-afternoon.

@@savingmiller Never seen an electric pump on an 8V92TA. The mechanical pump is located on the front of the motor behind the crossover pipe between the thermostat on each head. That is all located under the DDEC on the engine if you have one. The mechanical fuel pump is an engine driven gear pump. It''s possible somebody has modified your engine. A well setup Detroit 8V92TA engine starts as soon as you turn the key. The only time I've ever had problems with mine starting was due to the fuel pump and the check valve between the engine and the fuel tank behind the engine. I can see where an electric pump would work, but I would only consider that a temporary fix for several reasons. I always liked the looks of the Eagle bus better than all the rest, only I could not find one I was happy with when I purchased my Prevost.

Good adventure, Detroits sometimes need help starting.

Yeah, I did not want to do that, but that's what it took! So now I'll carry a can.
