Great shot. Unbelievable bull!!
Awesome 👏 action packed hunt in a style and place (private land) that you are not use to. I am glad you got to hunt with your brother again, I enjoyed the film from your last couple hunts with him.
Congratulations Dan on your second PB dream bull of the year and your elk hunting career.
Thanks buddy! Definitely cherish those hunts my brother!

A true giant. Congratulations , it’s awesome you get to hunt with your brother. Me and my brother hunt elk together. We are a great team.
So awesome to hear!
Congratulations! What a awesome adventure and a great bull!
Very nice!! I had similar experience on public -5.5 hours of bugling, cow calls, constant elk. I passed 13 5x5’s, 2 6x6’s before choice #2 came thru. I knew i would Never hear the end of it if i passed that much and a 7 x 7 and did not get my #1. First my wife would have elbowed me then passed it along to all. So congratulations. I only wished i could sat all day listening to it way out there
Thanks a bunch sounds like an awesome experience you had!
This is awesome just to watch elk interact! Great video!
Heck yeah doesn't get any better! Thanks for watching! -Dan
Wow. Great hunt. Congratulations
Wow. That’s all I can say. Good job once again! Beautiful hunt, beautiful bull!

What an awesome video! Did not skip one second the entire time. Monster bull, man! Congrats!
Glad you enjoyed it! -Dan
I bet the dude that had that tree stand on that tree is wondering where that bull went!
Probably the outfitters stand. Did you catch the fence towards the end?
Incredible! Awesome hunt to watch. Congrats Dan!
Thanks a bunch!
It's all fun and games till a wendigo pulls up
Wow. Congrats! I was going to comment before the video was over that the shot looked high. I lost my first shot on an elk to a similar shot placement. Great bull!
Thanks for watching! Good luck this year 👍
Pickar, you never cease to amaze me. Outstanding video. Congratulate on a once in 5 lifetime bull.
Could've shot him from the treestand.
Thanks man! I appreciate you watching. Yeah I thought about sitting the treestand but more fun on the ground!
Hell ya nice bull
Man watching this gets me so jacked for hunting season coming up!! Great bull and film! I held my breath watching that arrow arc through the air for so long 😆 haha glad you recovered him. Its tough when it's hot out and you dont want the meat to spoil but I've learned over the years that theres no such thing as giving animals too much time on a marginal archery shot.
Thanks for watching! Bowhunting is a game of inches! Yep tried to be as cautious as possible not wanting the meat to spoil and it payed off. -Dan
Great video. I don't care where you are hunting when you are in the elk woods it's a good time. I have to ask what hat are you wearing, it's sweet?
Thanks man, it was a short run of hat we did. I'll tell the guys to make some more! -Dan
This man looks just like Steven Rinella
sweet!
Dan your a class act man. You always have a great attitude. Congratulations on one beautiful animal.
What broadheads did you use?
I appreciate that man! Evolution Outdoors Hyde for all my hunts. They are awesome!
@danpickar5442 Dude....I smacked a massive black bear with that same broadhead in June. The exit wound was crazy. They are amazing. I love how you can change from fixed to mechanical. I couldn't see the green tip with all the blood on your harvest, once again congratulations Dan!!!
Heck yeah they are an awesome, forgiving head! Thanks for watching man and good luck out there! -Dan
What broadhead?
Where was this?? How much did it cost??? Why are these facts NEVER brought up???
This is my good friend's property. He requested the location not be disclosed. It did not cost anything. When he draws Wyoming I will take him into the Wilderness as his nonresident guide. Kind of like a hunt trade. Hope you enjoyed the video. - Dan
Too many ads interrupting the video 😢
354 is my guess on score.
Close! 365 gross
@@EastmansHuntingJournals awesome bull!!
That looked like an awfully long shot... "Kentucky Windage?" Great private land bull on a very lucky shot, an inch away from a lost/wounded animal.
Dude, IMHO you shoot at animals too far away. That said congratulations on a great animal! I am glad it worked out & you recovered the bull. You may want to reconsider using expandable broadheads on elk though, great equipment for poor penetration on less than perfectly placed broadside shots. Unfortunately you probably feel it gave you this bull so you’ll probably keep using them.
BTW, the bull was giving you a "nervous grunt" at the 18min mark. This means he wanted to see the elk he was hearing, he wasn't "barking" at you. If he was he'd have run off, but he didn’t, only walked away still giving you the same call. You probably could have called him in with the right sequence, not just using general cow sounds.
It was just about 60 yards. I shoot bulls at all distances within 70 yds. If you like close encounters like I prefer, watch this video. ua-cam.com/video/iYBtBJRtM7I/v-deo.html
I've shot 14 bulls with that same broadhead and most die within eyesight and I have never lost one that I hit in the body cavity. I did hit a bull in the shoulder in 2017 and didn't recover him but he wasn't mortally hit. That shot was 22 yds. Oops. Like any broadhead, sometimes you get pass throughs sometimes you don't.
Lastly, at the 18 min mark, I call that a bark and most resources out there would also refer that to a bark, when he repeats it multiple times. But yes it is a "show yourself" call. I didn't have enough cover so I opted to not educate the bull any more than I had too and kept quiet. I made just a couple lost calf calls during the beginning of the encounter and then stayed quiet for 20 mins until he stepped out of the timber barking. He was a very cautious bull. Could I have called him in with another style of calling? Maybe, but he didn't give me much to work with. -Dan
Hey everyone we got a veteran educator over here! This type of scenario is what separates the men from the boys. If you don't like 60 or 70 yard shots than don't take them.
Que sacanagem.
Private ranch, shot right in front of a tree stand, come on bro, heck of a shot though. Just not real open country
Not quite a shooter! You don't hunt for food.
That's not elk hunting
That was a awful shot
😂😂 coming from someone who has never hunted elk much less with a bow
Well it was cool until you said it was private land.
