Worth the wait whenever Mad Piano Life releases a medley! Thanks for the shoutout! Here’s my (Scott’s) new feedback 😄: Your description fits the music perfectly for the first selection, and the crescendo at the end creates the desired contrast with the following calmer section. As always, your patience in phrasing and acknowledging the silences is admirable and exactly what you what in this type of music. The multiple instrument feel with the interjections in the high register was executed perfectly. Every gesture you do has conviction and intention! One thing I’d work on “correcting” is sudden lifts of the hand when the music is calm. Try to lift more gently and not so high. Also, rather than putting one hand in the lap during a rest, especially if it’s just for a second or two, try hovering the unused hand on the keyboard. I think it’s more respectful towards the silence, since hands in the lap usually signifies that the music is done. Nice bringing out the melody in For Memories in the middle voice and switching between hands, and great tremolo control. In White Night, I liked the careful pedaling that was sometimes connected and other times, the dryness of no pedal brought out the arrogance and rigidity you mention in the description. Same thing with pedal in Iron Dawn. In For the North, the feeling of spaciousness from the hands being far apart is really apparent. You could work at cleaning your pedal changes by lifting your foot higher and quicker. I remember mentioning your care in the sound of certain single notes in your draft version, and you can really feel that here at the end of the movement. The Prologue was exciting and powerful and the last few bars gave a nice contrast. There’s no shame in needing to cut between movements in the long medley, especially if the end result has a stronger representation of your playing! (Although I do remember one of my first impressions of you and your channel was how impressive it was that you did your Mushishi and Sangatsu medleys all memorized and in one take! Anyway, there’s a lifetime ahead of you to go back to one-take medleys when you’re less busy. Keep it up!)
Without doubt my experiences with you two are part of the culmination of who I am as a pianist today. Thank you for being a significant part in bringing out the best in me ^_^
I just wanted to say that I love your work and I certainly agree that Asami Tachibana is an extremely talented composer, especially when it comes to making music that fits the scene. I was wondering if you are able to provide the sheet for expelling the darkness or windless star sea? they are amazing pieces and I'd be really glad if I'm able to play it for my friends. Thanks!
@@skotskot3379 so grateful for this comment btw, really made my day. I unfortunately don’t have sheet music and never made them before :( Nonetheless, I hope you still do enjoy and trying to replicate windless star sea for example, which is easier to do so. I can help via discord if need be.
Banger opening piece and ending. I'm gonna be honest sometimes i sleep in medleys and only listen to few pieces that i like but here... I closed my eyes at 'For memories' knew I was gonna go on an adventure. A big adventure of emotions. Haven't felt this overwhelmed from a piano video in a while. My fav is 'For The North', the melody and the flow is so sweet I just want to close my eyes and swim along the flow. Then the ending gives out "there's hope" vibes. I swear your videos have the most meaning in them, gonna miss em again. Also sick edits.
Despite your comments on being ‘rusty’, I feel as though this may be the cause of the striking uniqueness of this arrangement. This style to me is reminiscent of some of Animenz’ later stuff, not too reliant on virtuosic filler. The decision to use chordal accompaniment and simpler texture shows your intelligence as an artist and more importantly, the care and respect you have placed into the music. As always, the harmonic decisions you have made are nothing short of beautiful, and at times very cathartic. ‘For memories’ was particularly beautiful, the sparse right a hand texture and interchange of the melody between hands is surprisingly intense and very moving for such a serene piece. Iron dawn was guttural and triumphant thanks to your playing, and to me, quite similar in character to Beethoven’s op 111, one of my all time favourite works. In short, I find your decision to, in essence, ‘hold back’ both in your arranging and playing extremely compelling. That’s not to say this medley is in any way simple, the lush harmonies eccentric rhythmic devices that by now are very characteristic of your music still permeate through every aspect of your playing. Overall, a beautiful step in an unexpected direction, and a surprise that leaves me in even more anticipation for whatever you have in store next, however long it takes. Great job :)
I've never had a single youtuber uplift and appreciate my music more so than you. As eloquent as I am, I am at a loss for words. For the harmonic decisions and simplifications overall, I felt it allowed me to better visualize the game's universe as I was playing. It allowed me to better capture through sound what the music intends to portray as part of the game's lore. All I can say is, I will continue putting forth my self as a musician and meeting the expectations you've placed upon me, and one that I am beyond proud and happy to meet.
I don’t think it’s as hard to consistently show support, respect, and admiration for a piano channel but nonetheless you still do, which blesses and makes me happier than I’ve made you :)
Once again with a spectacular medley. There is just something about your playing that makes me want to watch the entire 18 minutes with my entire attention. Even though you complain about the cuts, the entire performance flowed perfectly. There wasn’t any spot where you didn’t show your complete care. Wonderful video once again.
I didnt play this game but is a beautiful medley and i had a great time listening to it. My favorite part was in for memories, specially at the end of the song with those tremolos ♥
@@cadenceho6499 I'm also currently playing The Alchemist Code (I'm very late to it). My favorite character definitely has to be Sharona, my first and only MBT 6* and I rerolled for her at start of the game, such a great design! I also like Azure like any other man haha.
