Hi everyone, I'm back with a quick little unplanned surprise! For those of you who read my descriptions and are aware of my transparent plans, you may know that I intended the last video on my channel, before I move to NYC for work, to be a Vinland Saga Symphony, three movements revolving around Yutaka Yamada's original soundtracks, both on piano and non-piano ones (replicated on piano lol). Th...

Hello everyone, it's been a really long (and inconsistent) time since I've been able to interact with you all. Because I am never hitting 500 subs before I start a family at this point, I'll just give a bit of a life update here: The last 3 months, I was in New York for summer work. I had no access to piano there, absolutely none. During that period however, I looped the Dagger soundtrack and o...

First off, a jolly jolly thank you to my good online friend @HayashiStudios for making the thumbnail and editing the sound of my piano to be something from a completely different dimension(dropping his link below, he does very aesthetic piano videos), so this might sound a little different than what you all are used to on my channel :) Before I talk about the piece, I just wanted to say I watch...

I have a lot to say with this video, and frankly, I'll just spill my thoughts in fluid motion. First, my apologies. My dear friend is busy with his own personal matters to come record, so I recorded on my iPhone, where the lighting is terrible and the sound quality not the best (hard to pick up my LH intended volume throughout). Now, onto Sayonara Bystander. It is a majestic song that fully hig...

So to just come out bluntly, I won't have much to say here. This video is basically intended as a message to let you all know I'm still alive and hoping to be active. I'm actually going on vacation and will be not doing any activity for a full week with my siblings! Nonetheless, the piece itself is a very dynamic one, which you won't see often on my channel. Resilience. Struggle. Raw power. Rage. Intricacy. And intertwining all of those into perfection. What can you think of that achieves all of these in one fell swoop? My answer to that is Kentaro Miura, and his manga, Berserk. I just wanted to say that I love your work and I certainly agree that Asami Tachibana is an extremely talented composer, especially when it comes to making music that fits the scene. I was wondering if you are able to provide the sheet for expelling the darkness or windless star sea? they are amazing pieces and I'd be really glad if I'm able to play it for my friends. Thanks!
@@skotskot3379 so grateful for this comment btw, really made my day. I unfortunately don’t have sheet music and never made them before :( Nonetheless, I hope you still do enjoy and trying to replicate windless star sea for example, which is easier to do so. I can help via discord if need be.
@@MadPianoLife oh thats ok then, thanks for offering to help anyways. keep up the good work

What a great tribute to Vinland Saga and its music! This video is truly a magnificent project and I love the way you depicted your journey and personal feelings in this video. You can tell that you really poured your all into this. Discussing deep topics including struggles and setbacks we all face is not an easy thing to do. Props to you for sharing this with an audience. I liked the statement: "For all the negativity you receive, love yourself 10x fold." from the ending section. :) This has been quite a long watch but definitely worth it, especially for someone like me who has spent a lot of time with the Vinland Saga soundtrack. I especially loved your performance of Dagger, nothing shy of greatness!
Had to share this with you knowing how much you worked on Vinland saga pieces as well. I knew this would touch you as it touched me ☺️
I'm blanking on what I want to say, but all I know is I feel incredibly calm right now after the soliloquy. Definitely a bit late haha, but watching this on Thanksgiving with my full attention without thinking about some essay deadline was the perfect decision. Save for the Fruits Basket medley (which is very special to me), this is my favorite video of yours that I've seen. I guess when I boil it down, the essence of what I want to say is simply that it was beautiful, and thank you. Thank you for sharing your heartfelt story in which I saw fragments of myself scattered throughout, and thank you for all the videos you've ever made in the past. Even if it's just for today, I feel unbelievably at peace, and I'm extremely grateful for you gifting that clarity of mind through your artistic expression on the piano. Best of luck in whatever life brings you next, whether it be the CFA exam or whatever challenges lay ahead, though knowing you, I'm sure you'll be fine :)
All I sought to do on UA-cam was to impart something else other than auditory pleasure. By imparting story, symbolism, and my life experiences, I become an artist rather than a maker of sound. To know that you’re able to digest my content to help you expand your worldview and cultivate new perspectives is the ultimate reward for any artist. I hope I was able to bring value to your life, as an artist and friend. Thank you for every earnest minute you’ve given me, and it makes me way happier to know you’ve paid attention to this full.
beautiful <3
☺️
Bwam.. I hope you're well. It's been so long. I've never gotten the chance to watch Honey and Clover, but with the current events in my life and season I am in, it seems like watching this was a confirmation to do so. Beautiful playing as always, wishing you happiness!
Omg Bella 🥺🥺🥺 It means so much to me to see an old appreciator and friend come by…I understand too. Adult emotional struggles are complicated, I’m wishing you happiness as always and to remind you to love yourself first and foremost. Please feel free to reach out on discord for any help or advice, I’m more than happy to at least listen ☺️
its missing the best soundtrack of mushishi kyo mayu tori which is also the only one to have no tutorials anywhere
I’ll look into that for part 2.
We have to spread the religion called "mushishi" around the world!1 Nice work. Unasaka Yori best song of all mushishi Songs. Crying without tears
I get what you mean….mushishi is so good and lowkey feels so real and natural
be serious, this anime change my way of thinking about life. it took me more in direction of shintobhuddism and animism and im very, very happy for this change. this anime should be used as education. i never see a other show so deeply like mushishi. either the music. im glad i can this listen till my end comes.

Thank you so much for all the effort, passion and time you put into this single movie you made. I just finished to watch the whole thing, and I'll say, I've never seen a video like this, where one plays the piano the entire time and through text over the performance he opens himself and express the thoughts about the music he's playing and the personal journey he went in his life. It's really incredible not only to admire your skills with the pianoforte (sadly I didn't follow your channel through the years, but I can say, you are very very talented), but also your sensibility towards the music itself and the larger story and message of Vinland Saga. I do relate to you in a couple of things. Sadly, when I started high-school, I left my piano lessons, and now I do regret that decision - but I still remember and understand the feeling of playing with passion every note. Also, the pianoforte is probably my favourite instrument to listen to, I simply love the variety of emotions that it alone is capable of conveying by the hands of many incredibly talented musicians and composers, both from Hollywood and the anime industry. Lastly, I understand your journey as a content creator on UA-cam. I managed to get a larger audience than yours, but that doesn't make any difference - I went through and I'm still fighting the same struggles you shared in this video. And over the last months, I realized that numbers don't matter a thing, for real. I ended up in a cycle of unsatisfaction where I sold my passion for soundtracks to gain just a couple of videos and views more than my usual, and repeating it again, for a long time. Now I'm slowly accepting the perspective where, in the near future, I'll leave my channel to dedicate that precious time to more essential and relevant things than just music editing and posting videos. I mean, there are still a couple of projects I still wanna make and videos I'd die to produce and get out there, and maybe in the future I'll still occasionally return to my channel to post a new video - but I wish to be free from the ideas that, if I don't succeed on UA-cam, I mean nothing to everyone. And it's a paradox, consideing that many of my videos have gained a lot of views - but I feel I kinda steped into UA-cam in a moment of my life where I was seeking attention from others, and now that my real-life conditions are changing and growing, I am struggling to let go of this mental cage I fell into. I'm thankful that I'm starting to become more and more aware of this attitudine of mine, and somehow the end of this video was like an externat confirmation that this is the right path to take. Life is so much more than just posting videos and looking for numbers. It's about struggling to find a long-term goal, having a vision for the future and fighting for it, it's also about growing more confident with family and friends and the people around you, and becoming a better person yourself. Again, thank you so much for this video and sharing all your sincere thoughts about music, life and family ❤ P.S. In case in the future you'll be able to make other videos, I'd love to hear from you a piano cover of "Itself", from the OST of Vinland Saga Season 2. I'll always remember the first impressions I've had of this song while watching the anime, especially in Episodes 17 and 20. But until then, if you'll ever make it, I wish you a good life and good journey!
Vinland Saga goes beyond just having no physical enemies. It’s a tale of finding purpose and fulfillment in life, what true strength really is, and the power of inner and outer peace. In a modern society with no bloodshed, many of us may still be detached from this understanding. All I simply did here was share that enlightenment to my wisdom, and I’m happy I was able to enrich your life and make it worth your time. Thank you for fully digesting and understanding what I aimed to do with this video. And per usual, I love your soundtrack tastes and listen to your channel quite often.
Really powerful stuff, I'm grateful to have gotten the opportunity to listen to it. Fight on, lad.
Likewise. I hope I was able to provide some value to your life. Thank you for the hour of your time.
Great performance I leave bell activated and Like Stay connected
Many thanks 🙏 I’ll do my best to return soon.
Sorry it took me so long to watch. And sorry bc this comment will be short bc the other ones seem to have said my thoughts already, and I don’t really know what else to say. But… This shit goes hard🔥🔥
There’s no need for words. This comment goes hard 🔥🔥
Best Video on UA-cam for a good while. I had my eyes closed half the time in 3rd movement and felt it, mesmerized. Starting 48:00 till the end of the piece with those words is a perfect conclusion to those 50 minutes played. Along the lines of conquering chopin ballades or Sonatas, this will be in my list to someday play all of. I believe you beautifully portrayed everything you wanted with this movie. Thank you for being an OG supporter of mine which inexchange lead me to this channel. Even if this is the final upload, I know the piano journey itself won't end here. This is also what I love about youtube is that I can keep coming back to this video whenever I'm in that zone. There will never be enough words to talk about this but to only keep on coming back and feeling it. Again a big thanks for the support and the upload. I wish your the best on your life ahead!
I wish I could pin every comment that goes on this video…hearing thoughts like these make me glad to meet people online that have really similar tastes to me. The piano journey itself is a process for us to explore and understand our happiness. Truly grateful and humbled to have received all your praise and attention, my friend. Our time online may not be long but our experiences and interactions will shape us to come.
If your mom taught you to play each note with intention/emotion, does a wrong key also convey that? There is no spoon nor enemies nor mistakes, only what your mind wants to perceive. She did a good job teaching you, glad you were able to learn and convey your emotions through this medium... A little to verbose for me, but more seem to enjoy it that way. Well done.
Thanks for the wonderful reminder Andanssas. A wrong note is still a wrong note but definitely only from my end and perception. I’m glad you enjoyed it :)
Congratulations, Brandon, on producing this monumental work of art for us! It is a perfect example of staying true to yourself while pushing the limits of the amount of work that goes into one piano recording. Having the running text commentary is a nice touch that engages the viewer throughout and makes us feel like we are in the room with you as you are playing. Maybe someday you can hire someone to re-edit your older videos to put your detailed descriptions directly into the videos! Watching this reminded me of my first encounter with your channel, the Mushishi medley, and how impressed I was that you had memorized the entire medley, as well as the deep level of commitment to the music. This current video is on a whole new level though, with the enormous scope of the project, as well as the improvisatory style of the music throughout and rhythmic freedom. So much color and life in your playing. You have our greatest admiration! So many beautiful moments in the Sonata, and the tone you make on your home piano really embodies the notion of music coming straight from the heart and body into the instrument. You mention this at one point in the video, and I feel you use your arm and body movements to produce sound rather than your fingers, and this is something we often teach to our students. The sound you produce from this technique is much richer and rounded. As Hayashi said, the 3rd movement is exceptionally beautiful, but the whole journey had a feeling of love and beauty throughout. We have not watched the anime, but the performance can speak to its viewers on multiple levels, so it was still easy to appreciate deeply. (We will watch it sometime in the future! Also, your mention of Barber's Adagio makes me want to arrange it in the future!) Our UA-cam journeys overlapped during the last few years, from our pre-COVID start, to our pandemic-era interactions with the anime piano community and devotion to regular YT uploads, to our current not caring about numbers at all. In your upcoming absence, we hope to continue to promote your genuine attitude towards music and sharing. You and your contributions and support have meant a lot of many of us all over the world!
These words are something I’ll treasure for the rest of my days. Thank you for having seen my growth and paying so much attention to what I convey. Both your musical experiences and life wisdom come together beautifully in this comment and brings me to a state of appreciated joy no words can capture. It has been my absolute honor to have had an hour of both your times.
Our pleasure to know you and follow your growth! This video might be of interest: our most recent teachers studied with this master, Claudio Arrau, and passed down his technique of playing using the whole body: ua-cam.com/users/shortsa1I1Lgy9U30?si=rjrzEOBzvefQFUFk
Your an amazing pianist, I love how well you play! Vinland saga is one of my favorite anime’s and you played the songs beautifully. Great job!
Thank you so much for the genuine praise, I simply put my best foot forward and all my care into whatever I play. I too love Vinland Saga’s piano soundtracks a lot!
Bro that’s beautiful 🤩
You’re beautiful 😍 thank you so much for watching
I woke up quite early today for my run, but I decided to delay it just for this. I am glad I did. I like how raw the playing was. It further emphasizes the genuine message that is trying to be conveyed. Not to mention, the use of clips was nicely done and it surely changed the mood. Although you may not have the best equipment, I can still here the beauty of your arrangements and I think you did them justice, even if it wasn't perfect. Reading your descriptions always made me reflect about myself as a pianist, and sometimes about art, and occasionally about life. The same can be said here, except to a much greater degree. There are many parts that I agree here. Chasing views and numbers can be stressful and sometimes it's hard to remember that they will most likely not matter in the end. Just like how the MC was blinded with revenge and vengeance, us pianists just want to impress as many people as we want even though we may not like what we are playing, or if it makes us stress. All that time wasted for temporary gratitude. I think this is why some may prefer a simple life instead spending their time competition to be at the top, when the chances are futile. There have been some times where I did regret spending a lot of time on certain things that I missed out on the fun I could have had with others. Not to mention, today we have become quite divided. We can't possibly agree with each other even over the silliest things, and this causes disagreements or fights between us. Many people want their enemies to lose, or to get ride of them. "I have no enemies" is what more people should be saying to themselves. Despite how hard it can be to control emotions, it is important to understand them, but one must understand themselves first. I thank you so much for making this big project for us. Even though you don't have a large audience, the impact this will have will be greater than any number on a screen will have. It certainly did for me. While I am young, I will always go back to this video and see if my perspective of it changes, or if it doesn't. Well, thats quite a lot, but these are my thoughts. Since all of your descriptions have been lengthy, might as well make a lengthy comment myself lol Well, it's been a great journey. I always checked your channel for the past two weeks for this. Thank you for your comments on my channel and sharing your thoughts. Thank you for being as original as can be and for always giving it your best despite your limited access to the piano. Though it may be a long while from now, I will always stay tuned for a video from you. And congrats on 500 subscribers, hopefully I will get there soon
You embody all that I hope to convey and I'm so delighted you're able to process this at such a young age. From me to you, only the best of successes, happiness, and inner peace. Thank you for being a fan and for opening my eyes furthermore with your growth and perspectives.

Just... wow
This is gonna go down as one of the greatest of all time. Be sure to give your madlad editor a shoutout for shouldering the final film of the Mad Piano Life Cinematic Universe. In all seriousness, though, I found a lot of my own struggles in this video and have also found inner peace within the past year. I know that I have slowly become the worst semblance of myself through the pursuit of fame and idolization and have come to completely forget the positivity of my early UA-cam years as a result. Indeed, "I have no enemies" is a far better way to live, although I would argue that what I was doing on UA-cam wasn't even living, but more like decaying. My favorite movement was M3. It was very beautiful in undescribable ways. Hell, the entire video gave me that feeling. It's a work that anyone would be proud of as a final project, but to people who can relate to both music and story, it's especially special.
Well shit, this is likely gonna be the final time I get to comment on your videos. Signing out, my friend 🫡
LOL@@HayashiStudios we've both come a long way. I'm glad what I do has meaning for you. We should go and do wherever the wind takes us. This is not a goodbye but a see you later. I don't know how long it will take but I'll be back, so just continue striving for your best as usual.
This still somehow just hits so different...
It’s a very human performance. All of its imperfections and care, put out in a week. I wasn’t looking to record it 100 times or practice it (I didn’t have time even if I wanted to). I just wanted to share what I was feeling.
I notice you've been replying to every comment on this, so I ask-is there any way I can beg you to transcribe this medley so I can play it for my senior recital? I would probably need I'm The One Who's Always Saved and potentially Soma Family Tragedy simplified because my coordination isn't the best... If not I understand because I know it would probably be a lot of work 🩷
This might be the most wholesome comment I’ve ever received ☺️ When do you need the sheets by? I’ll see if I can ask a friend to transcribe them but if not, I don’t mind paying someone either. Your comment really made my day and this video means a lot to me, despite it not being too well seen.
One of my videos, Sayonara Bystander, was charged $60 for a 5 minute transcription. If anything, if you know anyone or know yourself how to transcribe and would be willing to teach me on Discord, I can find a Sunday and do this for free as well 🙂
@MadPianoLife Awww that's really sweet, I'm so happy to give this medley the attention it deserves! :') Fruits Basket has had such a close place to my heart for so long and it would be absolutely precious to me if I could play it for my recital. I've found some of these pieces on MuseScore and learned them, but the series gets sadly little attention, and I've never found sheet music for a medley nor am I experienced in putting one together myself. I know how to transcribe individual pieces, but I think it would be better for someone with more experience to do this one. If you know how to notate music I could show you what software I use (it's free) and tell you how I generally go about transcribing. :) I'm not sure how tedious it would be for you, because inputting by ear can be time-consuming, so I'm not sure if it would be fair to ask you to do that directly and it may be easier for someone who transcribes more often-what are your thoughts?
@@lilykat. would you be able to add me on discord for easier discussion? My profile is bwamboozled
