What people don't understand is it doesn't matter how big the packaging is, they can still only legally put a certain amount of powder in it, for it to be legally sold. Therefore bigger isn't always better and it goes for the same on mortars. What you want to look at is the powder amount. But they are all fun and exciting. Good video...
Good point. I notice that he only talked about the size of the rockets, not the explosive power or why, other than physical size, is one more desirable than another.
The largest rockets are better than the middle ones...but not over 2x better so...for the price, I'd stick with the middle ones and shoot twice as many.
If thats the craziest rocket you've ever seen then you haven't lit a stage 3 nuclear rocket. I suggest finding one and trying it for yourself. It will put an even bigger smile on your face.
Yeah. I just watch others set their fireworks off. I get the exact same enjoyment out of it. Only difference is someone else gets to put a lighter to it.
I used to build model rockets in the 70's when I was a young teen, and I had a connection for quarter sticks of dynamite. These had wicks on the and, not the center. I installed the firecracker in the rocket, with the wick right up in and against a D-size rocket engine. When the rocket got to it's max flight height, it would blow out the other end to deploy a parachute. That's what would ignite the quarter stick. Super loud . Back then, quarter sticks were powerful. They had no writing on them, totally bootlegged. I got them for 2 for a buck or so. They could blow stop signs right off the pole. lol
You should try some DIY rockets. I used 35 mm film canisters for propellant and a golf ball sized charge for the display. A simple search will uncover the type of metals used for the display.
The fuse isn't a loop ! It's only tucked up like that for the red cap. You have to pull the fuse down then it's a good length ! Then it won't lift off so quickly ! (All big rockets in Europe are like that)
To me the Hellcat looked to be about the same size shell just in a bigger plastic casing and has a larger stick. If you took the bigger nose cone off the Hellcat and put it on the same size stick as the Crazy Frog I don't think it would be all that much bigger. Just my opinion though.
I bought black and white and grey acrylic paint, and painted the broom handle like a tank turret urban Camo , very easy to do! I love rockets! Cheers Cody and y’all!
I remember my uncle used to buy these large spanish rockets in the mid 90’s. The engine packing insane thrust, rockets shoot high into the night sky, loaded with a massive 3-inch shell. Each rocket came with its signature black wooden stick and a bold white fuse. Priced at 1500 NOK ($150) a piece back in the 90’s these rockets were worth every single krone, and detonated with a earth-shaking blast.
@@lordw9609 🤣 it's happened to me recently with a few boxes of missiles my friend got and there was no time to run or react but to only look up at the show🔥💥🎇🎆
The big rockets are going “right away” because the fuses are bent and stuffed inside to not get destroyed by the orange cap they put on :) have variants of these in the uk :)
By lighting the fuse with it looped around you’re cutting your time to get away by half! Pull one side of the looped fuse down and you’ll have a longer fuse
I don’t trust some of those larger canister type consumer rockets. Oftentimes it’s a smaller shell loaded in a big package. Plastic wrapped rockets tend to be this way a lot from my experience but they all are kinda susceptible. My test it to give the sides of the header a semi-tight squeeze w/your fingertips and if it starts to give way a bit then you know it’s a smaller shell nested inside with some air in between the packaging and it.
The fuse is Just folded over to fit the fuse cap! straighten fuse and light the free end as usual lighting the fuse halfway is why they launched pretty much instantly
those hellcats are just 2.5" shells inside a giant empty can. there are some solid real 3" color and noise out there right now that I'm sure you are aware of. even better are kings crown or gold crown rockets but they are extremely rare anymore. star/burst weight of 180 and total NEC of nearly 250.
In the uk we have a payload of 230grams in our biggest rockets an they are still 50% empty casing of plastic i normally put 2 rockers inside 1 and make a boom like a 6inch shell
Guys, thanks for the content! I watch you with pleasure every time and told my friends about you! You are undoubtedly the best pyrotechnics channel on UA-cam! Good luck! Greetings from Tyumen, Russia!
The problem with the big rockets is they have a much larger lift which sends them much higher. Makes the breaks seem a lot smaller than they are. We get this a lot in the UK
The hellcat fuses pull out by the way. They are too long for the cap so they fold them over, probably why they seemed to launch so fast lol. They do a double and triple burst variant here in Europe and they are massive breaks 😅
I'm taking the Crazy Frog rockets over the hellcats. You can get 8 crazy frog rockets and a few sodas to enjoy the show for the same price as 4 hellcats.
Those aren't bad, but that's a LOT of plastic. My guess is that's a ball inside there; probably better to rip the wrapping off those. My bet is the Hellcat is almost twice the price of the Xtremes, which means you're far better off getting the Xtreme "Crazy Frogs" if you need rockets so badly. Concerned Xtremes probably run $20+ a pack but the breaks _are_ nice so might be worth it?
Hey man I really love your channel. Just want to remind everyone. Fireworks can be dangerous if our in the hands of the wrong people. I personally got shot with a bottle rocket in my chest and had to get emergency surgery. Almost killed me. Stay safe
I’ve tried both those rockets. The effects on the extreme rockets are beautiful. Have you ever tried the Welcome to the Sky rockets? Less plastic and a big break.
Just guessing, but those Hellcat rocket bodies look a little thin compared to the smaller rockets. Could always wrap a layer or two of some cotton string, with a layer of kraft paper over it to tighten the breaks up some.
Cody, love the content but can you reconfigure the sound on your videos? Needless to say, I enjoy the reviews and rely heavily on em every yr we make our Missouri trip
The fuse is folded in half and should be straightened before lighting. One end will be loose. The larger rockets usually contain a ball shell. Sometimes, a big rocket will only have a 2.5-inch shell and paper padding. They're made big to encourage sales. They are often not much better than a medium-sized rocket.
Nice breaks, but, the way smaller Electro Streak rockets are the loudest rockets, besides the Night Stalkers, which I cannot find anymore, you have a huge area that you go to, I have a big yard but not that big, to test out those huge Rockets that you procured. I $pent $214,00 this June, so I’m well stocked for the 4th of July! Good stuff as usual Cody! YG is going to like these!
Did anyone notice the lightning flash at 5:43? For the money the Crazy Frog was the winner here. The big ones were impressive during launch and the height reached but just not that great break wise.
What people don't understand is it doesn't matter how big the packaging is, they can still only legally put a certain amount of powder in it, for it to be legally sold. So are those crazy ones real?
@@MyfriendthinkheOJyes there are. I come across it every time
I believe the bigger one is designed that way to allow a build up of pressure (perhaps even expansion hence the plastic) to have more dispersion.
Good point. I notice that he only talked about the size of the rockets, not the explosive power or why, other than physical size, is one more desirable than another.

Been trying to find one on his channel. Definitely would love to see a full video on one of those
I wish I could find some of those they are so insane
So true.
Seem like the sort of thing that would get homeland security called
I’d love one!
I get that good fireworks cost a little $$$ but ain't no way in hell are those 4 rockets worth $100! You can buy a few good cakes for that price.

Paul, I concur! 😊
There were definitely marked up those would be $60
Huge Disappointment.. especially if you are spending $25 PER ROCKET
Great vid cody!
I agree. Thats $25 wasted right there. The pack of 4 should only cost $25.

Will keep that in mind for next winter. This winter was a bit of a bust in central New England.
Thank you for taking care of my wife and giving her the biggest rocket on the market. ( You can keep her because her younger sister just moved in.)
That's got to be the safest place on the continent to launch. Not a twig within a thousand yards.

I prefer to use a fuzee, more commonly known as a road flare, for lighting the larger fireworks. It burns so hot that even the dullest fuse ignites.
