Automatic For The People is great as well. This was the follow up to Out Of Time. The albums from the 80's have some great singles to be sure, but are a bit uneven. Early 90's they hit a real creative peak. I find this one to be really cohesive in tone and quality... every track's memorable.
Folkish with an italian vibe. It's both depressive and incouraging all at once. This is REM delivering a beautiful taste of fine wine to our table. Drink it up.
The kids have a new take A new take on faith Pick up the pieces Get carried away I came home to a city half erased I came home to face what we faced This place needs me here to start This place is the beat of my heart
The first time I saw R.E.M. was at a bar in New Jersey in 1984 during the.. Reckoning tour...27 years later, their music still gives me chills....fantastic song!
the mark of a great band is the ability to re-invent itself as times and peoples tastes change.. R.E.M. is one of the best to continue to do this.. great job guys..30 years and still crankin em out...
The melodic manner with which the music coalesces with Stipe's incredible singing is unrivaled. That damn mandolin touches my cerebral senses in places I never knew existed. This is music. Welcome back REM - we missed you!!
Been together since they were kids, they must have had there up and downs like most folks growing up,and yes all good things come to an end one way or another, they were unique and were very good,my bro was into them in the early 80s,me the last 10 years,i thought they got better with age, them and their music.thanks for the music and the memories,REM.great last album by the way.
I love R.E.M. Was listening to Monster the other day, an album which the critics and many fans don't like. I think it's a great album, brings back many memories for me.
The most amazing thing about this tune.. Its written for New Orleans with katrina etc... Hell of a way to retire R.E.M. We the fans will love your music for the REST of our lives!
The best song I've heard so far. REM never cease to amaze me, they continue to produce the most amazing music. Anyone that knocks them and says they haven't been the same since Berry left, or since Automatic are talkng rubbish. REM evolve and thats why I love them. REM could probably just fart on an album and it would still sound great.
The more I listen to this song the more I feel touched with a knot in my throat. Mike Stipe is a great poet besides a powerful rocker...his voice is dark and warm so that every concept and word is underlined with strenght. The most genial phrase is the one referred to "Houston", as other people already said, "the storm didn't kill me, the government changed". I'm looking forward to buy the new album. Saluti dall'Italia...
The kids have a new take, a new take on faith Pick up the pieces, get carried away. I came home to a city half-erased. I came home to face what we faced. This place needs me here to start This place is the beat of my heart Oh my heart Oh my heart (Oh my heart) Oh my heart Oh my heart (Oh my heart) The storm didn't kill me, the government changed Hear the answer and call, hear this song, rearranged. Hear the trees, the ghosts and the buildings, sing. With the wisdom to reconcile this thing. It's sweet and it's sad and it's true. How it doesn't look bitter on you. Oh my heart Oh my heart (Oh my heart) Oh my heart Oh my heart (Oh my heart) Mother and father, I stand beside you The good of this world might help see me through This place needs me here to start. This place is the beat of my heart. Oh my heart Oh my heart (Oh my heart) Oh my heart Oh my heart (Oh my heart) Oh my heart Oh my heart (Oh my heart) Oh my heart Oh my heart
I know what this song is actually about. But for me it’s a song about how vulnerable we really are. It’s something I always wanted to cry out… Oh my heart… it's so special, it's so true.
What an amazing track. I kinda got away from R.E.M. for a long while. “Document” was the last album I purchased by them when it first came out. But a few years back, I bought a double disc compilation of theirs and there are maybe two songs that I don’t absolutely love. The rest of it is brilliant and this track was a new and wonderful discovery for me. Oh, my heart. Oh, my heart. Oh, my heart!!!
Thank you R.E.M. I will never foget you!!! What wonderfull 31 years! 'the skill in attending a party is knowing when it's time to leave.' Leaving R.E.M never easy, I saw the light fading out. Find it in your heart, it's pulling me apart, Find it in your heart, it's pulling me apart. I told you, forever, I love you, forever, forever, forever...
As a long time R.E.M. fan (I discovered them in the early 80's), I'm very excited about this album. From the things I've heard, it's the first R.E.M. album in a while that I will take to immediately and naturally rather than finding myself trying to like it.
great song... fits the strange times we are in. All my friends want to leave seaking of a better future. I wish them the best, with this song. It's bitter, it's sad, but is true~
I can’t stand R.E.M. Until my buddy turned me on to ‘The Bear’. This song caught my ear. Fuuuucccckkkkkk it’s unbelievable. Love it when my old ideas get destroyed.
I resonate deeply with your words. It's truly inspiring to imagine a world where more people embrace growth and remain open to new ideas. Embracing change and acknowledging that we are constantly learning and evolving is a powerful mindset. Being sensitive, caring, and willing to apologize and do better are not signs of weakness, but rather reflections of inner strength. While it's important to respect personal choices, it's also our responsibility to speak up when someone's actions are causing harm. Compassion and forgiveness are essential, but it's equally important to not remain silent in the face of injustice. Personal growth often stems from pain, and it's through these experiences that we gain empathy for others and realize our shortcomings. I've come to understand that not everything I once believed was right, and I strive to be more aware and open-minded each day. Ps. Perhaps, I turned your comment into something a bit deeper than you meant, lol. However, you inspired me. To those who are about to say, "it ain't that deep" or anything negative, it's okay. But really, don't waste your precious time. I am aware that when you put something on the internet, it becomes public and chances are, someone will disagree. But remember, I'm just a faceless person on a keyboard. It ain't that deep.❤️👀💐
l singolo è uscito nelle radio il 1º febbraio 2011, un mese e 7 giorni prima della pubblicazione dell'album Collapse into Now. È stato pubblicato in formato digitale in tutt'Europa e negli Stati uniti. Successivamente, il 18 febbraio, ne è stata pubblicata un'edizione in compact disc, distribuita in Germania.
.....Estoy seguro que una de las mejores bandas del mundo......va sacar un disco increible.......y lo que hemos visto......es muy bueno.......y seguramente el album sera guiado por el mismo camino.....larga vida R.E.M.........
Okay I will not be bitter, but it is a close call. If Michael can keep bitterness away, I will try. I need this community too. Love R.E.M and you all as well. Or maybe it is just the Oxy today.
i was driving around athens ga. today, playing r.e.m. really loud with my windows down and a bunch of ga college students where changing classes and crossing the street in front of me, they all gave me the thumbs up and where screaming R.E.M... damn what a scene...lol
I wish the bear stuck go mainly REM songs I'm not even a fan of REM but slot of their songs just FIT the show so well. Now so many people are complaining about the soundtrack smh
I hated this song when I first heard it but it's been growing on me. This happens each time R.E.M. releases a new album. One great thing about their music is you often have to invest some time, occasionally dozens of re-plays until you "get it". The pay off is much more rewarding than the instantly catchy, radio friendly crap, that the legions of suburban American zombies seem to enjoy feeding on. The radio stations would go out of business if the had to play legitimate music like this!
@top20modernrock I agree. It's funny because I was just thinking the same thought this morning and then I saw this post. It is only right that REM gets a chance to do this. I have followed them since the beginning and they will always be on my favorite bands list.
@top20modernrock You are absolutely correct. I think the Prince show was probably the best halftime show ever. I was a big Prince fan back in the day and I was hoping his show at the bowl would show everyone what a great performer he is and he did exactly that. Other bands I think deserve a shot at playing the bowl are COLDPLAY and MUSE. Also, LIVE if they ever decide to get back together again. I saw them about 10 times over the years and their shows always are great crowd pleasers.
Thank you The Bear for introducing me to R.E.M. They are a genre of music I never knew existed for all my 21 years of existence. Thanks a lot.❤
If you like this listen to Out of Time. The whole album is good stuff.
@@joncotton8021 thanks, I have saved the playlist.

You didn't even know about "Losing My Religion?" That one still plays all the time on my radio stations.
it's a pitty that the youth will never know what it is radio for real
Thank you The Bear for including this masterpiece
Folkish with an italian vibe. It's both depressive and incouraging all at once. This is REM delivering a beautiful taste of fine wine to our table. Drink it up.
The Bear brought me here. Thank you, Jeff.
Can’t believe I’ve never heard this. Glad I heard it on The Bear tonight ❤️ beautiful song

I think after Everybody Hurts, this has to be one of the most beautiful and precious tracks that R.E.M. has ever recorded
Sweetness follows, Find the River too!
the mark of a great band is the ability to re-invent itself as times and peoples tastes change.. R.E.M. is one of the best to continue to do this.. great job guys..30 years and still crankin em out...
Melancholic and uplifting at the same time..
Thank you guys (REM) for producing such a beautiful art.
The melodic manner with which the music coalesces with Stipe's incredible singing is unrivaled. That damn mandolin touches my cerebral senses in places I never knew existed. This is music. Welcome back REM - we missed you!!
Thank you The bear for this... Just came after episode 3.

Oh My Heart! What a amazing song!! The best R.E.M. song of the last years!!
Oh My God, how beautiful! Thank you Michael for your voice!
"The storm didn't kill me.. the government changed." I LOVE it when bands write follow up songs to previous ones. :')
People saying R.E.M. has seen its best days need only listen to this piece of music. They sound brilliant and I can't wait for the album to come out.
The most amazing thing about this tune..

THIS is R.E.M. !!!
This tune is absolutely wonderful ! I don't understand why people are being so harsh with the new material...
It's nice that R.E.M. ended with a really solid album.
The more I listen to this song the more I feel touched with a knot in my throat.
