🇸🇪 Hooning Around Volvo 240 Turbo

Turns out this Volvo 240 Turbo 5 speed does NOT have a Limited Slip Differential. The shift boot is torn, and besides hearing cool spinny whoosh sounds, there is a bat rattling when in boost. Hopefully not pinging......

Nice! People don't realize how tough the suspension systems are on those red block 240 & 700 series cars. You can run them right down the rough side of the train tracks.

Sounds like the engine is pinging. I have a 240 turbo too and it sounded just like that when the vacuum hose from the waste gate blew. It basically ran at 40 psi of boost. That might not be the exact problem with yours but at least something similar like too little fuel or too much boost.

I recently bought a very nice old 71-ish 144s, in sea blue. I got through rehabilitating a lot of things, and not know much about the b20, tried this that the other to figure out why it was running like absolute garbage. Eventually I did a compression test, and a couple pots were down to about 50-60 from the rated 175. It was still peppy even then, surprisingly. It would have cost too much to rebuild for the output of even a fresh b20 though. So I’m having a b230ft swapped in. I’ve kind of enjoyed your videos so far as they tell me what its going to sound like and what sort of foibles I might expect. As for me, I’ve subbed here and hope to see more content from you as time goes.

that enine sounds really bad, you sould optimise your fuelmixture or lowerthe boost a little.
