I celebrate it by going to Louisiana. It's the most amazing street party and the parades. The masks they have are the most gorgeous. The feathers they use are so perfect. However, they are very expensive depending on which one you want to purchase. The elaborate ones can even run in the thousands of dollars.
One of my best friends and her family were from Louisiana....I went once with them to Mardi Gras. They both have passed now. This brought back great memories for me.❤
I love this wreath! Galveston, Texas throws a big annual Mardi Gras celebration similar to New Orleans with parades, lots of beads, music, parties, and drinking.
Im in Mobile, Alabama,USA where Mardi Gras was started. Dave this is beautiful! Knowing you are from Canada you did our Mardi Gras wreaths better than alot of ppl from our area. So thank you!! Stay warm n take care
Also in Mobile, AL! I love this and believe I will be making these as Christmas gifts for friends. Just wishing I had saved beads from years before! I always turn them in for Krispy Kreme donuts! I’m going to check out Al’s 5 and 10 for mesh and Toomeys for some masks
Wow Dave being from New Orleans where Mardi Gras originated I can say great job. The fun part about decorating for Mardi Gras is there can never be too much. It is over the top excessive and gaudy. You stopped before you reached that point but the wreath is on point and beautiful. Ty
Hi Donna, yes, that is way I'm loving making Mardi Gras wreaths....over the top excessive and gaudy is so much fun creatively. Thanks so so much. 😊 😊 😊
Your wreath screams MardiGras, job well done. My husband and I actually went to MardiGras in 2012. It was really neat to take a tour and see how the floats were built.
Totally fits in with the aesthetic of Mardi Gras with the carnival feeling! Doing the design with the gold beads put it over the top from beautiful to STUNning! Great job yet again!!!
OH MY GOODNESS Mr. Dave, that is GORGEOUS!!! You were super inspired in this creation sir. OBSESSED Hope you had a lovely vacation, but you were missed. Hope you will have some Valentine's wreaths coming up and maybe some St. Patrick's Day as well.
Thank you! 🤗. You're like us here, we don't celebrate it here, but I'm for sure going to make more Mardi Gras wreaths next year. TOO much fun. HAHA. 💛💚💜💛💚💜💛💚💜💛💚💜💛💚💜
So cute! You would have a blast here in New Orleans, it's the craftiest most creative community ever. We turn our Christmas trees into Mardi Gras trees! 💜💛💚
I was so hoping to see a Mardi Gras themed wreath, and you did not disappoint. My husband and I would celebrate with a Mardi Gras cake with the little plastic baby inside. I love New Orleans but haven't been there in years. I've been to Jazz Fest but have never been the actual Mardi Gras festival.
Another beautiful wreath! Everything works perfectly together. For some reason I never thought of winding deco mesh around the wreath frame but I love this easy elegant DYI! Thanks for another inspirational wreath idea. I live in the midwest so I don't celebrate Mardi Gras but it surely looks like a great bit of fun.
I am a TexaCajun!! My family is of cajun decent & we celebrate Mardi Gras with parades, cajun music, cajun food & a King Cake for dessert. "Laissez les bons temps rouler"!! (Let the good times roll.)
I don't celebrate mardigras, I did do a tablescape 2yrs ago , live the colors , will do a tablescabe this year , this is stunning, I never saw those items at dollar tree , will back at wreath this year , you are a good teacher tfs
I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video and wreath. YAY!!! I had so much fun making it and researching your beloved holiday that I may have to make one every year now. Thanks so much!!!!
I believe that Mardi Gras is mostly celebrated in Louisiana, because of the the French history there. February however, is a month of worldwide carnivals and I love the masks and the way the wreath came out.
I just finished making an 18" version of this wreath for my son & daughter-in-law who live near Mobile, AL, and I LOVE how it turned out! This will be our 2nd year going down to visit them for Mardi Gras - last year we had a blast at 3 different parades and caught all kinds of treasures. Thank you so much for this tutorial - I think they're going to love the wreath! ❤
Dave, glad you didn't add the big bow and just did the bead scroll. Very, very elegant and regal. I thought you were going totally OTT here. I am the most OTT person I know, but the elf bonus 2024 wreathmas was too much even for me. 🤣🤣 Your sense of color is off the charts, though!!!!!!!
I recently found your channel and I love how you present your work! You are precise and give all the directions, measurements, and where you purchased the items. Can't wait to make my first wreath. Thanks, Dave.
Hey Dave, hope you had some well-deserved rest. ❤❤ the colors!!! Not a Mardi Gras fan. I think you have to be from that area to really appreciate it. However, I do love the colors and beads and all the trappings. Great work as always. You never disappoint. Looking forward to what's coming for Easter!! You have a great week🙂🙂🙂
