    Great teaching to understand that progressive steps instill a mental understanding of the required output. Too many times it’s “get into your back leg” or “ride your momentum”. All correct statements, but a great athlete either does it naturally or wants to know how to do it. This teaches the how really well. Awesome stuff.

    How much do you think utilizing the hinge will increase velo coming from someone who is very quad dominant. I feel like my upper half mechanics are decent, and I am hitting the weight room hard and throwing plyos to try and build my velocity, and can long toss probably close to 90 yards but I just got my pulldown with a 5oz tested a couple days ago and I am still only at about 80 mph. It's pretty discouraging but I think the hinge could be a big game changer for me. I have been trying to hinge for a long time now and I still have yet to get it down. Hopefully these progressions can help me nail it and get me over this plateau. Thanks for the video guys

      Hey Donovan,
      It can be VERY frustrating. I spent about 7 years trying to figure out how to use my lower half until it finally clicked going into my senior year of college. Over time I've begun to understand the move much more clearly. A lot of my trial and error process has made it into the drills that we use and how we articulate and teach it to our athletes.
      I'd encourage you to reach out to us if you're still having problems! There are a lot of reasons long toss doesn't perfectly transfer that go beyond just the hinge. Contact@treadathletics.com

    You can use the wall to brace your back leg. In order to glide that front leg you have to brace it somehow which in this case would be in the front hip and front quad.

    Most of the time being able to throw hard is in your blood you can do all the mechanics and stuff but what really makes mlb players throw hard is the fast muscle fibers, the are able to move their arm at different speed faster than others, now weight and how big you are can have an effect its only by a little. That’s why you can see sometimes guys that are 6’8 only throw 90-93 and guys like yorodono Ventura , walker buehler and many other guys that are small throwing at a range of 96-100

    • @treadathletics
      @treadathletics  3 роки тому +2

      Genetics are definitely a big piece of it. Especially with determining someone's top end potential. Some guys won't ever throw 95 while others can throw 95 with bad mechanics. It's still about maximizing the levers, patterns and tools you've got, whatever your genetic ceiling. I will say most guys can be at LEAST one tier above where they currently are because it's unlikely they've turned over every stone.
