Amy what stand mixer would you recommend in 2020-2021?
Daily usage. Alternating cookies using fresh wheat and fresh wheat bread?
I have a Bosch Universal that is 4 years old. It falls short on grabbing the stuff at the bottom of the bowl when mixing cookies. The plastic also chips and breaks on the dough paddles.
I have burned up 1 Kitchen Aid Pro before I bought the Bosch.
Bosch cannot mix 4 cup bread loaves.
Batches of bread are 8 cups of fresh wheat.
Cookies are 5 cups fresh wheat for cookies and 5 cups cocoa powder and 3 cups wheat for brownie cookies.
      Thanks for a reply.
      Budget is somewhat flexible.

I've got that mixer, bought new at a gourmet store. Love it! Still going strong after years. Mine also came with the same attachment and jars. At the time the motor was more powerful than the kitchen aids, and the mixer was just a more solid well made machine. Have never regretted buying it! You got a great deal!

As Bret has stated it is a KM210 or KM220 manufactured at the Kenwood factory in Havant Hampshire, likely in the early 1990’s. I still have its predecessor the A901E dating from 1983 which works perfectly. All of the new attachments will fit although you would need to purchase an adaptor if you were to buy the latest model of meat grinder. These machines last for years, the only very occasional problem can be a blown capacitor in the speed control unit which can easily be repaired, in the UK you can even buy a kit for a very small cost and repair it yourself, if you’re handy with a soldering iron! If you use it every day it might happen in say 20 years time! The new Chinese manufactured machines, I have one, have higher power ratings but its impossible to tell the difference in performance apart from being quieter, however they aren’t built to the same standard and I think my original model will probably outlive it! The small attachment you have is a dry spice mill, the idea being that you could grind your own spices in the separate glass vessels and seal them with separate lids. I bought one and while it worked ok it’s fiddly to assemble and something of a gimmick, I only used it a couple of times, but if I remember correctly it isn’t waterproof so you can’t process liquids. All in all you have a great find there! You won’t be disappointed by its performance other than that they were loud on higher speeds. Hope you enjoy using it.

Very interesting, Amy. Yes, this looks like a classic Kenwood, maybe something that came out after the 901 model. The UK motors definitely sounded louder than the current Chef mixers. Your chopper will probably work on your two other Kenwoods, too. Can't wait to see your review of the mixer. Merry Christmas to you & Eric! 🎄

What a great find for $50 I am sure it will work well and am looking forward to seeing the review. It even looks like a Kenwood but the beaters and planetary action confirm it and great it’s UK made too.

I have a Kenwood Chef Excel (model KM210 Made in Britain) that looks almost identical to this Kenwood made Delonghi with the differences being the grey trim, chrome accent on power knob, 600 watt motor, and it has a plastic bowl with a squared front for easy addition of ingredients. When I tested It, it did a good job on cookie dough as long as the speed was high enough to fling the ingredients out of the "K" paddle, but when I tried a single batch of my enriched sweet dough (for cinnamon rolls) that I normally make in other machines without issues, it was a complete failure, the dough climbed the C shaped hook and stayed there and was unkneaded even with speed adjustments. Maybe a double batch of dough would have faired better, but I don't make that much dough very often. Plus it's a very loud machine! I'm going to sell the one I have. Given the choice between the HL6, KA, Bosch Compact, and this machine I know this one will never be my first choice for anything. I can't wait to see what your review reveals!

I was thinking of starting a small little Pizza business and was wondering if you would have any idea of a good commercial mixer to make Pizza dough. I would need one that accommodates about 15-25 lbs of flour. TIA

Hobart is the only way to go with a commercial mixer, we use a 60 quart Hobart (HL600). If you don't need anything that big you can get the floor models as small as 20 quarts, and they have a countertop model that is 11.3 and 18.9 Quarts. We have Hobarts in our chain of stores that are over 20 years old and have only needed minor maintenance.

The beater sits so low in the bowl, makes it like a 4 quart. 1/4th the bowl is more like a splash shield. Still a nice mixer. Kenwood makes good stuff.

@@russ5024 if a Kenwood is bought new it will have a recipe book OLDER KENWOOD with a page for every attachment you can buy and what it does. Later models have leaflets with the weights it can handle for different things ie bread white, whole meal, cake. We Brits weigh everything, older machines in lbs & ozs newer in grams or both. Cups aren’t accurate for things like flour in UK. Someone explained it to me once but I’ve forgotten. It’s something different in America to Uk. Atmosphere or something similar. All later machines come with large cookery book. Not sure if they convert for American market.

@@marksilver9291 yes I have an old Kenwood I still use. It was heavy. I also have a titanium and it’s solid, all my beaters are stainless steel. Only downside with Kenwood I had model from late 60s early 70s which I loved and had both serviced yearly. Kenwood stopped mobile mechanics and I took both for service at repair shop recommended by Kenwood. When I got them back one smell of burning, I took it back to them, they told me it was a small part of motor that was no longer made. No internet then so I just left it there. Big problem, I had bought nearly all the attachments and most didn’t work on my other machine. A lot of money and I just dumped them now days I could have got my old machine fixed.

Ken Wood died in 1995 and Delonghi bought the company in 2001 so it’s either not a true Kenwood or not as old as they’ve said. The chopper with jars is for grinding spices and spare ones to keep what you’ve ground fresh. I’ve never seen a Kenwood with Delonghi written on it in uk.

    • @gillgreen3446
      @gillgreen3446 3 роки тому

@@russ5024 sorry Russ started answering then lost it. I’m pretty sure the grinder is just for spices but too to look for instructions right now. A food processor is better for baby food. The attachments that you can move from one model to another are potato peeler and colender sieve. They sit where the bowl sits and use same hub as kbeater. The attachments that sit on slow speed FRONT don’t work on other models. It’s not a big distance but older model pin is slightly too short to engage on newer models. As for cream maker there’s no real use for it anymore. Any full cream milk can be turned into cream or butter. As a kid we used to put milk into a screw top jar and shake it for ages and we’d end up with a little pat of butter. Single cream, the runny type if beaten with whisk or mixer will become double cream , thick cream, and if you continue to beat, butter. In uk butter is sold mostly in 250 gram blocks but also comes in 500 and imported comes in 400 blocks but if you’re looking at an English recipe it will always be 250 gram block. It’s well worth buying a cheap electronic scale as weight is same the world over. I weigh everything including water. If you’re ok sending me your email I can send you a print of all Kenwood attachments and instructions. I have chef A 901 and used to have the earlier model as well. I’d have to look up that model number. I now also have the titanium.
