wow, what a fun surprise to find this fabulous little video with the authors of the book I bought last month. I have your book, a kit from Etsy, and lots of indigo scraps, but have yet to do my first piece. I stitched 2 rows yesterday and just now did a search on youtube to get a hit of motivation/dopamine to keep my enthusiasm for yet another new craft and all the rabbit holes that go with that. Since the pandemic I have gotten my sewing skills back and having the time of my life with making rope bowls that I will dye and paint with fabric paints, rag dolls, zafus, aprons and pin cushions. My belated mother, Sonja Pimentel, was a famous textile designer weaver, knitter, and seamstress in Sausalito in the 60's, you would have loved her. We lived in the houseboat community there. She was friends with Kaffee Fassett. One of my favorite of her works was a knitted Shakespeare doll , about 18 inch. It was to die for. I have the original hand written instructions. She became a Womans Day contributor with various projects from a knitted lion kit to blanket shawls. I am now Trying to figure out how to make her famous posthumously LOL. She was the most creative and talented person I have ever known, true genius like hers is rare. I have a quite a few of her sweaters, dolls and other works of art that I am currently trying to preserve. If you would be interested, I could send you pictures. Perhaps you could do a youtube on famous dead knitters. Now there is a niche. I also am a UA-camr, though rarely post... LauraRoehrick foot care nurse... take care, be safe, be well and thanks for the inspiration.

Though I have used sashiko stitching for quite some time, their book brought my work up to a new level. Excellent book that provides thorough insight and clear directions! Recommend.

I bought this book a few months ago and I am so pleased with it! I am a Sashiko/Boro fan and have enjoyed this stitching style for a few years. This was the book I had been hoping someone would write with history, fantastic instruction, and creative projects that I can't waited to try. I joyfully recommend it! Thanks you two and congrats on the book.

I recently re-started to crochet which I like, but I'm not obsessed (too much counting!!) with it like my sister is. She's made shawls, wraps, sweaters, dog coats, cat beads and lately even tea towels! Sewing has always been a thing I loved! I began in elementary when Home Ec was still taught. I made a flat apron, didn't follow the directions and didn't care! Since then I've made all sorts of clothing, home décor and functional stuff. I love the artistic nature of Sashiko & Boro stitching & sewing and I have loads of fabric to get started.
Some of the stitch patterns remind me of Sacred Geometry which I learned about when studying Reiki (Also Japanese based!) Thank you Thank you Thank you for making this easy to understand, friendly and informative video! I am so excited to get started with the TOOLS and stitching!!

April 2022: Cheers from the French Quarter - top floor Pontalba in New Orleans!!! We are retired, active geezers (74 and 78). And have a storage unit over run with vintage jeans. Many of those LEE/LEVI/WRANGLER jeans are not sell-able, so I re purpose that fabric to make totebags...I am very much interested in the boro stitch as a new decorative addition for my bags. So this lady can pick up some new skills...thank you. BTW You are both charming.

Guys, why did you never show me the actual book? I wanted you to turn to a random page and actually show me what is inside. I don't enjoy shopping online. I like to see what I am thinking about purchasing. But alas online is fast becoming the only way to shop. Came upon your channel by accident, where do I find the kits, thread, and other necessary tools you mentioned? PLEASE. Hopefully all in one place in a nice little kit--that is reasonably priced. I was shocked at the 176 pages for only $30 for your book. I love anything sewing, so I have to have this book. And of course all the needed paraphernalia $$ I see more fabrics, thread, and needles in my life, fun fun.

Amazing video. Am greatly interested in Japanese culture. Pehaps because I am Brazilian and we have a large Japanese descente in our country. I was aware of Sashiko and Boro art but did't know that there was a Museum in Seatle. I am a quilter and visited the Quilt Museum in Paduka-Kt

It is more than one century that Japanese immigration started. They are great producers of soya bean, besides groceries and fruits for exportation. In 2018 the Japanese Emperor invited our President to lunch with him at the emperial palace. When he left the palace he was surprised by a huge line of the staff applausing him. Even 5 Cuisine Chefa were there. I think I've given you an idea of the good relations between these two countries.
