I am a first year Nursing student too Ate and handwashing is our first task for RLE. I am so thankful that I got to watched your video, such a great help!! ❤️
hi! just want to commend you for this performance. You did exactly what is required of this procedure , complete with rationales which is very important. your voice is loud and clear. turning off the faucet after the procedure was done is accurate and the way it should be. God bless and more power to you!
Hello ma'm, your video on handwashing is by far the best among those that i have watched. Our clin ical instructor recommended your video for our retdem. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your video. A few comments here: An antimicrobial soap is not needed to complete hand washing unless it's indicated (for special cases like surgical procedures). Some agencies have banned the use of this type of soap containing certain harmful ingredients as this may cause antibiotic resistance. Plain soap is enough. Also, try not to touch the handle of the faucet with your bare hand when turning it on. Use a paper towel or your elbow for this. The assessment of hands for cuts, checking the nails etc can be done before wetting the hands. Make sure to clean the nail either with a nail brush or nail pick if necessary. I also noticed that you only dried your palms and not the back of your hands esp the spaces between your fingers.
Hi there! to address your comments, there are three separate types of handwasing: 1. Social Handwashing 2. Antiseptic Handwashing 3. Surgical Handwashing Now, what i did in this Return Demonstration was obviously antiseptic handwashing because i am performing a procedure assuming that i am in a hospital setting. This procedure is done before coming into contact with someone in the medical or healthcare setting. During that time (3yrs ago) i mentioned to use antimicrobial soap because this is what is mostly found in healthcare settings (as far as my research is concerned). Like for example, Hibiclens brand Antiseptic/Antimicrobial soap. Its active ingredient is Clorhexidine Gluconate which is not banned unlike those antimicrobial soaps with active ingredients like Triclosan and Triclocarban. However, in home or public places or Non healthcare settings, a plain soap is recommended. No problem, no disagreements, and no debates about that. It is also very effective in removing pathogens from our skin. Next is you want me to turn on the faucet with paper towel. I believe it is not necessary because my hand is considered contaminated same with the faucet. Can you please give me the rationale why i need to use paper towel prior to opening the faucet ? Cleaning the nails with brush is necessary especially when you do a surgical handwashing. Lastly, i would like to thank you for your constructive comment because you made me do a quick research and I found new learnings. Thank you!
When rinsing..start from the least contaminated to the most cominated area,,,so ... the most contaminated area now is the wrist, so we have to position the fingertips upward or slightly above the wrist. In order for the water to flow from the least contaminated to most contaminated area.
In hospital settings, we use aseptic technique which involves the strictest rules to minimize infection. So turning off the faucet should be done only after finishing the entire handwashing procedure and that's the way it is.
Not necessarily however, the thought/main point of the rationale should be right there. Other factors must also be considered like the standards set by your shool, instructions of your Ci and their preference.
U should never ever repeat rising ur hand in back and forth instead rinse ur hand in the same direction where u start like finger tips to elbow and back again to finger tips to elbow…it should not be finger tips to elbow and goes back to fingertips

So turning off the faucet should be done only after finishing the entire handwashing procedure and that's the way it is. Obviously, I'm doing this return demo in my home and so I do not have the facilities that are like in hospitals such as foot operated faucet. It is the concept of maintaining sterility that I'm trying to emphasize here. I hope you get that. ❤️
need pa po ba i explain??? • Presence of factors increasing susceptibility to infection and possibility of undiagnosed infection. • Whether the client uses immunosuppressive medications. • Recent diagnostic procedures or treatments that penetrated the skin or a body cavity. • Current nutritional status. • Signs and symptoms indicating the presence of an infection: Localized signs- swelling; redness; pain or tenderness with palpation or movement; palpable heat at site; loss of function of affected body part; or presence of exudate.
this video is all about handwashing technique and i think your questions are quite irrelevant to this type of retdem.. i suggest that you watch some of my other videos which may be of significance to this type of queries you have.. Thank you! 💖
@@ShekinahAquinoMaranga may binigay po kasi saaming checklist yan kasi procedure 1 di ko rin gets pero bahala na introduce self nalang the tuloy tuloy na btw thanks po

thank you so much for this!!
thanks you for that kind of ideas you shared
Are you sure that tissue or paper towel are not contaminated?
Hello do you need to memorize all of the rationale?
not necessarily memorize, but you ought to have a full grasp of the rationales because these are significant in performing nursing procedures❤️
super helpful huehue. thanks, ate!
Tysm retdem namin bukas 🫶
WOW GRAPE AMAZING EXPLANATION
Thank you 😊
Thank yoi for this rationales💗💗
Thank you for this ate
Thanks a lot😇❤️
this help meee, thank youu!!!
You can use elbow to turn off the faucet, other faucet design needs tissue to close it.

@@ShekinahAquinoMaranga How bout the applying soap on your palm part? We were taught to use the back of our hand when squeezing. Or is it either way?
@@yufuuu_ The best way to perform the procedure is by following the steps according to your hospital protocols..
Ang galing moooo

Hi ate.. can you send me a doc. File for handwashing PPE and hygiene🥺
retdem agad namin bukas. Salamat
Very nice sakina
Good demonstration , but wasted a lot of water , must save water too
That’s how it’s done. Clearly you didn’t listen and are not medically inclined.
Is it necessary to recite the procedures word to word or parang pa hapyaw lang dun sa mismong procedures?
Not necessarily however, the thought/main point of the rationale should be right there. Other factors must also be considered like the standards set by your shool, instructions of your Ci and their preference.
thank you..
Hello po ate. Yung sinasabi niyo po ba yan na yung rationale every step? Sorry po di ko po kasi alam huhu. Sana po masagot
Yes, yan na yun.
Please, save water....
Goated
Hi ate kailangan po ba ganyan totally yung ginawa if mag return demo?? Like by word for word po ba?
You can create your own script. Just give major importance to the procedure. You can confide to your CI
Sa feb na retdem namin huhuhu
Goodluckk 💖
@@ShekinahAquinoMaranga thank you!! Huhuhu hanggang gowning gagawin namin kabado hhaha
