I am so happy you're doing this! I found out about your previous tutorial series a couple of weeks ago, and was about to start it, but unity's startup stuff is totally different! I want to see a higher focus on different player hand gestures and more of the scripting you did!! Also I'm serendipitously on vacation the week of your VR game jam, so that's going to be my whole focus!

If you get any problems connecting your vr headset, for me(i use quest 2) it works with virtual desktop. it costs around 15$ but i think its worth it. its easy to use and doesnt seem to have any problems
The great thing about making VR tutorials is that every time someone comes back to a project after a while it's probably going to break in about 100 ways, and it's almost always easier to just watch your latest tutorial. If it weren't for content creators like you I don't think VR would be nearly as approachable.
8:20 If you add the XR Interaction Toolkit from the git URL, it will only find the most recent version, such as version 3.x which is incompatible with what is taught in this video. For instance, you won't be able to add the "XR Controller (Action-based)" component because it's deprecated. I was able to use v2.3 and v2.5 and they worked fine with this tutorial. I'm not sure how to get the older versions, but when I just searched it gave me 2.5, but I'm not sure it will continue to do so.
Also note that if you are using a headset through quest link and you cant get the controllers to track, you may need to go in the occulus app on your computer and go to settings, general, openXR runtime, and press set meta quest link as act... it took me all night to figure this out.
Awesome tutorial, Valem! Thanks! One question: can you gave more details how you make the game to play in the headset on play in Unity? It somehow magically works in your video, here however I have the air link working, developer mode, etc... adb devices also shows the connected headset. And still on play I only see the empty Link room... Any suggestions what I might be missing?

Hello, this is a great tutorial! I am facing two issues though - my headset movement is moving in opposite directions I am not sure why (when I move my head left, it moves right and vice versa and same with up and down movements). Second, I have followed the tutorial here but it is like I am walking through the floor when I build on the headset even though I have manually adjusted character height in the character controller components. Would be grateful if you could please guide! Thank you!
Edit: Fixed my problem with the hands falling on the floor and not moving. I forgot to go into OpenXR and add the controllers in the Interaction Profile! Whoops! :D Thank you for the tutorials, I am working through them now. An issue I've discovered is that when creating the XR Origin for the player, it now auto makes left and right hands. I followed your guide with the premade hands and could not get it to work, the cubes sit one the floor and do not move. I then deleted the premade hands and followed your guide, and when I give them cube shapes it does the same thing and just sits on the floor... I'll continue to debug, but just letting you know, thanks again!

IF YOU CANT FIND XR CONTROLLER ACTION BASED, YOU SHOULD IMPORT XR INTERACTION TOOLKIT AND SET THE VERSION TO 2.5.4
Go to package manager and to XR Interaction Toolkit Version and click Update on the version 2.5.4

I installed the interaction kit. At 10:50 , the only script that shows up is XR Controller Recorder. There is no Action Based. I'm stuck, googled it a ton and can't find a solution

Package Manager -> XR Interaction Toolkit -> Version History -> Install 2.5.3 version (Recommended)

Trying to get this to work with the Index controllers and it simply doesn't work. I can't figure out why, there is no tracking within unity.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hey man, same problem here. It sounds dumb but for me i think it was in the project settings enabling the controller input
This is awesome 🤩
thank you I'm glad you like it. :D
Hi Valem
I have a doubt
I don't have the oculus vr but I have some other vr, will it still work?
Since the plugins we've installed in this video solely focus on
Oculus Vr
I'm waiting for your reply
Thanks
I'm about to make myself a vr game so that I can shove it into my portfolio to apply for game companies. Thank you so so muchhhh
