He lied and photoshopped his list. You can't have multiple listings of the same song. Melon literally only listened to dance monkey.
And I didn't expect Arctic monkeys to reveal that they like to dance
@@SBRS47 Its a joke
This video was a blatant excuse to rip on Spotify for several minutes and I’m here for it
the Spotify CEO bit was like a leach declaring, "my host dosnt produce enough blood!"
From actually reading the article, he's more saying "my artists would be getting plenty of blood back for themselves if they made albums more often". More condescending and out of touch, I disagree with Fantano's characterization of it seeming entitled
@@thunder____ but would the leach not get more blood aswell?
@@janefkrbtt Undoubtedly the leach would get more blood, and that is most likely a part of Ek's motivation behind his comment, but my point is that I felt the tone of Ek's comments would be better described as "condescending" and "out of touch", rather than Fantano's description that they were "entitled". Either way, Daniel Ek is a major piece of shit and I avoid Spotify like COVID (or, as we would've said three years ago, like the plague).
@@janefkrbtt not directly, his main point can be summed up as, if you have a small discography and long gaps your audience today has millions of other options cause they have access to everything so if you wanna continue getting steams you have to release more, it's the exact same on UA-cam really so it's not not standard practice in today's access everything style of content consumption. An algorithm can't push you if there's millions of newer options.
I don't think artist should be forced to do so but that's also what labels tell them anyway.
Now indirectly he does benefit because if you release more you'll make more money so less artist will complain about lower pay.
He's looking at it like a regular job or how any artist works on the internet, which probably makes sense for many newer artist but not everyone obviously.
leaving that at 666 likes
The comment from the Spotify CEO about releasing every 3-4 years is so beyond comprehension for me as an artist. I’m working on my music day and night and have been working on my new album for a solid year. Is it done? No. I want it to be good. I want to try to push the boundaries of my genre a bit. I want to stretch my own capabilities and skills in music production, songwriting and singing.
I love creating stuff that’s not the problem. It’s just that I feel the pressure to constantly release stuff. I wish I could…. I just value good work over bulk too much.
Problem is people like him think art is just another form of content creation, and has no worth unless it can satisfy an algorithm and make him money. The guy's a fucking lizard.
I think it's very much coming from them wanting to further commodify artists more than they already are. It just sort of sounds like it's trying to go for that Netflix model of cranking out seasons of shows cause they want people to binge and engage. Not respecting the process and time that goes in because they need more engagement and fresh new content to consume.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for when you also push back at Spotify's anti-artist bullshit while you review people's Spotify Wrapped. My personal convictions have had me go back to buying records, as opposed to streaming... I find streaming unethical. I won't tell other people how to indulge in music, though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Make sure to support the smaller artists you listen to by buying records/merch and going to concerts people!
I fucking hate small musicians. I refuse to go to concerts, I steal merchandise, and I slash their vans tires. I don't even care who is man
Yeah, Spotify being fucking awful towards artists is one of the reasons I left the service early this year after many years. I settled on Tidal a few months ago because it (supposedly) is better towards artists, high resolution audio, and because I really liked the UI/UX. I'm open to suggestions on other services that treat artists better tho.
Naw Tidal giving 10% of your subscription to your most played artist of the month is dope. Tidal and Deezer are best to the artists.
As you say beyond paying more I think Tidal is just the better platform. Found so much music when I was using it.
@@TheMomno same. Tidals artist/song radio stations have introduced me to about 50 new artists
@@AndrewTheKingOfPenguins Yeah for sure their "track radio" is really good at introducing you to new tracks.
Spotify and YT music always just finds additional tracks from the same artist I've already heard.
Can you explain to me how Spotify is awful towards artists please? Genuinely just uneducated on the topic and want to know what's going on :)
I’m so happy this wasn’t just a Spotify wrapped video and also brought attention to the multiple issues with Spotify 💕
This is why I pay for Tidal. They also donate 20kr of my sub fee to my top listened artist every month. That and I don't want 320k files. Unfortunately, Tidal's "wrapped" doesn't drop until the end of the year, because December is also part of the calendar.
So Tidal does have a wrap? I was wondering if the most listened to playlists was all of it.
I switched to Tidal this year too. It's still a fucked streaming service and doesn't have my podcasts bud at least it's not spotify.
That guy with Snail's house on his list being asked if he's ok is the best thing I've seen
Anthony, just because they listen to Dream isn’t a reason to repeatedly call them every slur you can think of.

I miss the community side of Spotify as a Tidal user but I don't miss having to stream their music 3000+ times just for the artist to make $10
Based TIDAL user :)
Tidal needs more musicians and labels to get on board with it. I tried it last year and found that it was completely missing some of my favorite bands and musicians, or random albums from their discog. it felt like it was still in beta, tbh.
@@MelMelodyWerner This is true, even with more famous-ish artists like Ab-soul, one of his recent singles was like 2-3 weeks late to tidal

wow these spotify wrapped’s are so swag! (buy bands albums off of their bandcamp and also get merch, vynils, go to their shows, etc. so they get their due credit)
I did listen to David L. Harris a lot this year. His blue album or whatever. I'm always listening to fusion or fusion esque jams but this year besides (I mean idk if you count BBNG) Masoyoshi Takanaka, it was a year where I spent a lot of time tracing my back catalog and enjoying the records from games past.
Idk I was really obsessed with the soundtrack from the Japanese movie Blue Spring for like a month. Weird year for me. I'll try harder next year!
Excuse me Anthony, but I will not have you slander Nobuo Uematsu like that. He is the single greatest video game music composer that has ever lived. That Final Fantasy music is second-to-none.

ey not boasting or nothing, cause it took almost zero effort, but because of you and some other people shining a light on spotifys vulture shit, i got me and 4 of my friends to switch to tidal.
we dont get wrapped, and im sure its not a perfect platform, but it is cool knowing more of my money is going to the artists i love than if i hadnt.
youre the best.
Hate to break it to you but it really doesn't, Tidal's payment is only marginally better, the best way to actually support artists still is buying their merch directly from them and going to their concerts. Nothing short of a massive exodus of users will force Spotify to change which isn't going to happen any time soon. And Tidal, since Spotify is so awful to artists, has no incentive to keep improving, which is also bad.
@@Falxifer95 no shade, i get that. the situation sucks for all involved, and our "choices" such that they are really dont have much difference in total effect- but i dont feel the approach of "nothing short of exodus is worth doing" is very actionable. obviously the problems are symptomatic of much larger economic systems than any single industry, but we gotta do what we can, no?
im sure you aint judging, i know we're all in the same shit. just tryna do the best by each other.
Melon, it’s almost like the Mathcore one was from Christian Segerstrom from Mathcore Index 💀
Superb satire. Subtext boils over to blatant text punctuated with belching. This is why we love you.
having snail’s house right after the microphones and bcnr is really funny
Based off the stats, it seems like the best way to support artists i listen to is through apple music? I havent heard of Tidal music before, is it worth switching to? I've kind of just always used spotify to stream but im willing to move
I moved to Apple Music two years ago and honestly don’t really miss anything. The price is the same but Apple Music offers lossless which is way higher quality than what Spotify has. I think it would be fun if Apple Music had a wrapped but honestly it just explains that the app is tracking you
