You all will be very pleased this upcoming 2012 year..... There will also be no Whitney Houston show because everybody is doing that. But the boom is back. Dowell taylor has the boom sounding like the 1989 motown band. The get ready sounds identical to the way it was played at motown at todays practice
Thats why they are the best band in the SWAC. JSU and BCU are my top bands. JSU can bring it without soundin like garbage. control is keyyyyyy and they definitely have it.
I like all bands in Swac,Meac,Siac, but JSU is the best. They set themselves far apart from others with that big band sound and tradition.I been studying bands for over 20 years and JSU have stood out the most. But I do like AAMU homecoming at halftime, they play some good music.ASU is good too.MVSU and the Corn gettin better.SU,now them folks sensitive about their band, but they are good not like JSU....
@Beast19 you must be an SU fan, I'm not taking anything away from SU but as I stand on my comment. Anyone can get caught from year to year but JSU's sound is consistent, I believe they bring a dynamic that SU lacks. Yes they're a powerful band but there's more to it than just power, those two bands are the best in the SWAC in my opinion though,...
@GVocalz3 I am a former student at SU. i atrend A&T now so that Norfolk battle with either of the SWAC powerhousesis long overdue. But I am not bias toward any one band. I love J State, but they are not the most consistent and in sound nor performance. You brought up SU, yes in my opinion the are the blueprintfor a consistentband, they sound almost...
@Beast19 Identical to the the band that marched in 89 just like they sound almost identical to the band that marched in 2000. Beyond that the arrangements that they write are on another level compared to any one in the SWAC with their only competition music wise coming from MEAC bands, and that 2 or 3 tops. This alone places SU ahead of most bands that compete against. JSU is a great band but they have many years left to stay at the level they are to consistently become a threat to SU, BCU, FAMU
@Beast19 as a side note I was really hoping SU or JSU would win the SWAC so they could run into NSU, LAWD that would've a battle as well as a lesson! For now that's just a thought but maybe some time in the future...
They should have at least played a Whitney song. I think it's something that's taken away from people's opinion of the BOOM this season. They could have played Saving All My Love or something from Body Guard soundtrack once
@djunior2011 Naw Im a mature TSU fan. It seems that everyone but you knows the Boom and the Crats played Big Ballin every year since the song came out. Know your history before you step on your lips youngin. The first one free. Dont let it happen again.
JSU is one of my favorite bands in ALL of HBCU! As a former Drum Major I'm LOVIN' the "Fab 5", but in all honesty I wish I could be surprised just ONCE with your field show. Everything seems so anticipated and there's no "WOW" factor after watching you all for so long. I love your sound but even THAT can't carry through an entire show. Now in the stands NO ONE can match you, but PLEASE - and I'm asking as a fan - PLEASE do something different with your show. Signed, A True Fan
When you don't mention The Aristocrats as being one of the best musically inclined bands then you can't be taken seriously. The bands that focus on quality of sound rather than volume and brass intensity would have to be FAMU, BCU, The Aristocrats, and Norfolk State give or take a few. Southern and Jackson, with all do respect are brass ball-busters rather than musical technicians. Let's keep it real when analyzing our top HBCU's. Don't hate, just try to musically relate.
@djunior2011 I thought it was the Fab 5 but thank you for the correction if I'm wrong in the name... Nevertheless, I still wanna see something different from JSU
@Beast19 and Norfolk, the bands that consistently give you the same product year in and year out. This is why JSU in my book is not the best, but is one of the greats. Those 4 bands i mentioned give you the same intensity on the field, in the stands, at a parade, year in and year out. Even the years they are lacking they still are beasting over most everyone else, (03 SU, 06 BCU, 07 FAMU, 08 Norfolk). If JSU can't be matched in the stands what happened in BR for the Boombox classic this year? :)
Woooooooooo...... GOTTA LOVE THE BOOM-3 ! @11:50 my heart melted and the ending was just... ugh.... they did a great job !! and umm.... yea -_- that announcer gotta go !!!!!
The way I see is that SU and JSU....yes they are powerful bands. To me the way they play is good showing a different style. If you pay attention their songs sound beautiful. While bands like BCU and FAMU play a good quality music and they also sound beautiful but if your going to compare, compare SU against JSU because SU and JSU styles of playin are different from bands like BCU FAMU AND SCSU
lol -__- I'm a beast. I be all up there. don't be worried about me. read my 1st comment. I was taught that screaming, especially as much as they were doing during the drill wasn't good. and after listening to them and how messy it sounds, I understand why. I can almost guarantee that the notes weren't written that high either.
Overall good show lacking that wow factor. Band wasn't nsync together as they hit the yardlines during the drills therefore making the crooked lines obvious. Also the DM to the far left should be standing on the same yardline as the one to the far right. They weren't n it didn't look right. Jsettes were superb as usual. JSU has improved on their drills n sound. They are definitely in the top 5 of HBCU bands.
way, way too much screaming from the trumpets for my taste. screaming doesn't make a good section. and from what I was taught doing all that during the drill is a no-no. and I thought su was bad about it. this is coming from a trumpet player btw.

Nice job JSU! I ain't mad at y'all!
what songs were they marching in formation to in the beginning?
I AM N DA BAND I MA GO TWE BATTLE OF THE BANDS
I like all bands in Swac,Meac,Siac, but JSU is the best. They set themselves far apart from others with that big band sound and tradition.I been studying bands for over 20 years and JSU have stood out the most. But I do like AAMU homecoming at halftime, they play some good music.ASU is good too.MVSU and the Corn gettin better.SU,now them folks sensitive about their band, but they are good not like JSU....

ASU vs. BCU in the 2012 Meac Swac Challenge!!! Mighty Marching Hornets battle it out with the Marching Wildcats! I know I'm going to be there!
@GVocalz3 Fab 5 is BCU.....our dm are the J(jackson)5
@Beast19 Identical to the the band that marched in 89 just like they sound almost identical to the band that marched in 2000. the dance essemble piece was beautiful but as far as the j-settes i seen them do a better field food
@Beast19 as a side note I was really hoping SU or JSU would win the SWAC so they could run into NSU, LAWD that would've a battle as well as a lesson! For now that's just a thought but maybe some time in the future...
They playing alot of stuff TSU played this year -_-
that song is cameo, talking out of the side of yo neck.

5:46 bad :/.... need to get those lines and diamonds straight.. other than that good job JSU!
I've seen the band this season. Get Ready doesn't sound a whole lot different to me.
lol Ik he just missed the "J" but it's still funny that the announcer says "SU rocks the house"
Who is we? If you talking bout BCU, we all small compared to yall and FAMU. You both got a million people in band
JSU is one of my favorite bands in ALL of HBCU! As a former Drum Major I'm LOVIN' the "Fab 5", but in all honesty I wish I could be surprised just ONCE with your field show. Btones and Mellos went in on H.A.M... my favorite song from JSU this year

I thought JSU was the Jackson 5 and I thought Alabama State was the Fab 5?
MELLOS!!!!!!!!!! Especially in "Push Up On It" by Rihanna! Wheew!!
@djunior2011 I thought it was the Fab 5 but thank you for the correction if I'm wrong in the name... Nevertheless, I still wanna see something different from JSU
@DaProtegeTBone2013 no tsu played alot of jsu stuff....for example "big ballin & party dont stop"

But
jsu will crank on both of them
@djunior2011 So JSU wrote and copywrighted Big Ballin' and Party Dont Stop? PPL like you with these asinine comments.
Woooooooooo...... GOTTA LOVE THE BOOM-3 ! @11:50 my heart melted and the ending was just... ugh.... they did a great job !! and umm.... yea -_- that announcer gotta go !!!!!
Announcer could try singing "Rocks Da House" more than one time like the band is doing
The way I see is that SU and JSU....yes they are powerful bands. To me the way they play is good showing a different style. If you pay attention their songs sound beautiful. Man this announcer is so annoying bro. I couldn't even finish watching
