I've just ridden 800 miles down the west coast of France towing a Burley Coho Xc. It was faultless and carried all my gear for camping and the cargo net even let me store provisions and water purchased as I went. I did use the extra panniers and the cargo bag, again they performed without fault.
Nice review, thought I would just add my experiences ... I have had my Coho for nearly two years now and go bikepacking and take my dog out generally using my e-bike and the coho trailer regularly, My lovely dog comes along with me seated in the trailer with some of our tent gear, he has a foam base (waterproof)which I installed for him to sit on whilst travelling which when we are camping and I remove for him to sleep on, my panniers are seated on the rear of my bike and not on the trailer do I use the rear mudguard of the trailer for carrying a lightweight chair and when stopping as a dining table! . The trailer handles amazingly (turning circle not good but as said in another review its easy to remove and replace simply even with panniers on) We have had no problems to date, much of my gear is in separate drybags in the trailer as this makes it easier to pack around my dog space.. I would recommend just considering the fatter tyre upgrade as the rear spring is sorta adjustable but feel the needs for a little more comfort if carrying mans best friend on longer journeys!, hillier terrain is not a problem with the ebike but if it gets a little bumpy for the dog or if its its difficult terrain and safe to do so off road he runs alongside.. but all in all a great versatile trailer!
hello, this is my original idea to carry my best friend, a dog of 30 kls. medium size, do you think it's possible? my english is not good , but i think i did not see the weight or size of your puppy . thank you very much and your comment is very helpful
@bekantas thanks for your comment. The trailer could easily carry a dog, BUT the manufacturer clearly states NOT to be used for animals. I have seen on UA-cam other videos with a dog, so yes, it is possible.
Very interesting review and I certainly wasn't expecting that. I'd love to see a second review at some point over hillier terrain. On the flats though that looks superb.
I was on tour over 4000km at June-July, with an total weight of 38kg. I went first to the pyrenaes in Spain then to Italy to the Abruzzian mountains. There was no defect at all. But I am not really satisfied with it: The trailer is difficulty to drive at higher downhill speed (up 30km/h) and side wind. As an Engineer i locate that problem at the upper tube off the frame witch makes a down sweep to the front were the variable width yoke is connected. It is also difficult to drive with very low speed at windy tracks, there is often a side force at the bicycle front wheel. And at least the dumper they used is the cheapest and baddest what is on market. It is jumping like a crowd off rabbits. Unfortunately there is no other damper fitting due proprietary mechanical dimensions.
interesting idea. You say you could feel it up the hills, but were they 'big hills'. I went around Suffolk / Norfolk a few months ago, my first week-long trip, and I was pushing A LOT around Dedham. I think I spotted the PodSac plastic cage mounts on your front forks. I moved to these after struggling with the Blackburn Outpost cage mounts. The mounts were fine, but I struggled to attach them securely to my suspension forks. The Podsac ones connect much better with the jubille clips that slot into grooves on the cages, and don't move an inch.
Good review, especially the detail on the mounting to the bike, which looks really well engineered. I'd considered a Bob Yak trailer before, not dissimilar to this one. I was up at Baconsthorpe Meadows on my bike a couple of weekends back, on the pitch right next to where you filmed this vid. Thanks again for the review, need to save my pennies.
Hi had my burley trailer 2 years the back mudguard brock off I never put anything on the mudguard it broke off where the pins go through thinking about getting it welded on
this seems really nice! I liket to know how to best choose between his one and their Nomad trailer... Feel is hard to tell which one to go with.... can someone who seen both and tested them share some insight how to choose between them... thanks everyone! :)
That is a superb design. I take it the trailer has a pivot point where the U shapre from the wheel meets the vertical pole before the main hold area? The mudgard / seat part looks nice and sturdy, I was thinking of a trailer and mounting a flexible solar panel to charge an ebike battery and take 2 batteries to have on charging in the back all day. The solar panel would double as a rain cover. Do you feel that the one wheel design makes it less likely to tip over on a corner? The reason I asked is because I made a wood trailer for my ebike but tipped it over after clipping the kerb, it caused a bit of a situation with drivers glaring and tutting at me as I gathered my bits together (I haven't used it since!)
Hi there. Yes, there’s a pivot with a quick release skewer. I like the solar panel idea! As far as single wheel design over twin wheel is concerned, I can't comment. I have pulled a child's trailer behind my bike with twin wheels, but I was really careful because the children sat in it. I feel the single wheel is superior for cargo/camping, but that's just a feeling! Thank you.
I’m not able to find any info on locking the coho to prevent it from being stolen. Is it possible to lock the hitch or do I need to have a longer chain to lock it to the bike frame somehow? Thanks for a great review
Yes, I absolutely use this trailer for groceries. When in a shop, I always lock the trailer to the bike and to a fixture. Never just leave the trailer unlocked 🔐 (unfortunately)
I wonder about your experience with the trailer and the Trek Madone road bike combo. Are there any concerns to tow the trailer reasonably loaded with regards to the frame of the Trek, whether it is of aluminium or CF type?! Thanks!
The Trek is CF, and so is the Canyon Exceed MTB. Naturally, aluminum (metal) has better torsional properties. So far, I have not experienced too much twisting with heavy loads, and the Trek is fine. Thanks for watching.
Hi Andrew ....just discovered you channel and find it very informative and entertaining, just wondered what DIVUM means or stands for? keep up the good work and thanks for uploading atb Darren
Hello Darren. Thanks for watching. Divum means "sky" in Latin. If you watch the second video on Peddars way I explain a bit about the name. (It's a 44 min video!!!, so skip to to 8:09 for the info 👍👍👍
this is definitely the trailer im going for. thank you for the review. could you please give a link for the TREK bike you showed. id like to look it up
Thanks for your nice feedback. The bike is my very old Trek Madone 5.2 (2010 model). I'm afraid I don't have a product link, but you can check it out in another of my videos here. ua-cam.com/video/YWR8JYb3X34/v-deo.html Go to 6:08 into the video to see a quick review......Cheers
Very nice review. What else did you consider? I am also looking at Topeak Journey, which is a bit lighter I believe, but I do like the look of the kickstand and versatile mud flap/pannier rack/seat on the Burley. What are the inside dimensions?
I'm looking at purchasing one of these tomorrow .also need the bolt through axle the same size as yours as my bike is electric Evans cycle do these trailers £379 struggling to find bolt through Axel. Where did you get your axle from? thanks great video
I have a Riese and muller foldable bike with 18inch wheels. Do yo think I would still have enough clearence from the ground you think ? Thx for the video !
I'm not sure 🤔 because there is a limit on how much the yoke tilts up and down in elevation. Sorry. Maybe the manufacturer specifications will answer that query.
Thanks for making this video. Do you think I can Carrey another bike on top of this trailer? In other words, I need a trailer where I can care one bike on top of it for days I need to take my bike to the repair shop
Most, maybe all one-wheel chassis cargo trailers endanger stability and make steering hard. Especially when you load it unevenly. Take a two-wheel trailer.
I'm in the process of buying a single wheel trailer for my Wallke H6. Check out my 1st review. Answering your question, you can't unless it's a center hub like QuietKat. I am making a plate to mount to acc. holes on rear dropout. Then will bolt factory pivot points accordingly. Can't decide on the Coho or the Extrawheel. Thoughts welcome on either.
Depends on what you mean by long distance!!! I purchased the trailer for multi day bike touring, where I hope to do 100km per day plus. I'm not an expert! But so far, it's proved a great way to carry kit, in many ways better than bike bags.
On the contrary, it's impossible to mount to my bike, it simply doesn't work with Sturmey Archer (or other) hub gears since the gear change toggle chain enters through the end of the axle into the hub. This renders it an utterly useless & overpriced garage ornament for anyone with a sensible urban bike.
I've just ridden 800 miles down the west coast of France towing a Burley Coho Xc. It was faultless and carried all my gear for camping and the cargo net even let me store provisions and water purchased as I went. I did use the extra panniers and the cargo bag, again they performed without fault.

To be more realistic, for me, I would need for it to be two to three times longer, with a side rack to either side of the wheel.
Thanks for the comprehensive review, including the flag position! Really helpful when people review things they have actually used.
Thanks Paul. I'm looking forward to using it loads this summer.
This was an excellent review video. I will tune in for every other review you do!
Much appreciated! Thanks Matthew
You convinced me that's the one I need/want. Merci !
Sorry about that!!! But yes, a really nice trailer👍

No, the hills weren't too big. And yes Podsac front fork panniers. I'm still trying the trailer out, but so far so good 👍🚲

Baconsthorpe, it's a bike packers gem 💎. Small World! Cheers Chris
Looks like what I'm looking for. It would be perfect if it could be used as a wheelbarrow once disconnected from the bike. Thanks for the info.

Next level bikepacking - right there! Dunno if it's just me but I feel cold whenever I hear the word Baconsthorpe.

No, there is no locking device, integral to the trailer. I use a separate lock and chain. 👍🏻
Could you use it for doing groceries? And that mounting system might be a risk that somebody could steal it while you are in the shop...
Yes, I absolutely use this trailer for groceries.

That one can sit on the mudguard has become a dealbreaker on my shortlist..
I don't get it? But thanks for watching.
Combined with an eBike I’ve managed to ween myself off my car for shopping and hauling tools for local work.
Fantastic. That's great.
How would the trailer attach to an ebike with a rear hub motor?

May I know where you bought your portable stove ? Thanks !
Hi. I bought the stove from "thecanvastentshop". But Google Winnerwell.
How do you lock it up.when shopping
I put a cable lock through the trailer yoke-handle and through the bike frame and attach it to a fixed location, such as a rail, fence, or lamp post.
How to manage to get this camp site?
Here is the campsite details

No. 😄
@@divum Could work.
You could since most trailer mounts just need a place to mount the trailer hitch. Usually on the quick release, or bolt on axel.
I love the trailer but still too heavy, mostly I am getting the extrawheel...only 2 kg...
Thanks for that
Is your bike carbon?
Yes.

With the size of that trailer, you could of taken a wood stove and possibly a kitchen sink ………

I don’t know why people on UA-cam think they need to put on music. This isn’t a music video. This is a trailer video, not in mtv
