When you’re shopping for a rain jacket always look at the fit. You want a relaxed fit, and buy true size. This gives you room to layer underneath, they are made baggy for that reason. My rain jacket is slim fit, for summer rain. It wouldn’t layer very well. So just make sure you check that size guide and fit guide cause each jacket and brand is a little different.
Nice to know many of these are helmet compatible. May be suitable for motorcyclists. May be good for those with inner-shorter armoured(airflow mesh, flapping-pumping effect) in mesh-fabric as inner(outer-)jacket and rain-jacket rain-pants rain-boots combination-layering.
Washable helmet inserts are dry with jacket-hood inside helmet if the collar-zipper is fully pressed by the airflow to flat without balloon... not necessarily full-face helmet only...
The Patagonia Slate Sky would be perfect on a motorcycle and it has an excellent hood helmet and the visor is minimal so shouldn’t give any issues. It has minimal zippers and has a mouth storm flap.. it’s what I’d want to stay dry going 70mph

For some reason, all these damn waterproof shells never work for me. so here we go again spending ~$200 on hopes and dreams! does anybody have input or experience on 1. OR MicroGravity Ascentshell 2. Blk Diamond Stormline 3. Pategonia Torentshell? Those are the three I've narrowed it down to, in that order. I intend to use it as a shell in disgusting high altitude/ winter conditions with ice and brush rubbing up against it. The Kuiu Northridge rain jacket also stood out to me if anybody has experience with that
Most all of these are $175-275. $200 is the sweet spot for a “lifetime” rain jacket from a higher end outdoor brand. Lots of good competition in that ~$200 area.

My goto os Arcteryx SL the Patagonia 3L is by far the best value at $100 usd on sale.
Arcteryx reigns supreme. Even their beta LT rain coat works wonders and is perfect for storms.
