"Mirrors" created by dancer Lucy Rupert and violinist Paulina Derbez. Directed by Liza Balkan, soudn desing by Mitch Cook, light design by Noah Feaver, visuals by Jaime Lujan and voice coach by Fides Krucker. "Mirrors" premiered in Toronto april 2018 at the Citadel: Ross Centre For Dance.
Mirrors is a dreamscape where music, movement, text, digital painting and the raw explosiveness of the two performing artists converge in an unforgettable world. Using their shared classical music training as a launching point, Mirrors both challenges and accepts rules in pursuit of freeing the voice that seeks to be heard.
Including original text and adapted text from Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass, Mirrors is a unique version of the triple threat, the performers move, sing and speak as though in a kaleidoscope. Performed by two singular artists with a combined 40-plus years of experience experimenting with form and sound.
