I believe the best education a musician can receive is getting out and playing with as many other players he can. Memorizing every scale there is, and being able to utilize every scale, are two very disparate things. I was a bedroom player for a few years in middle school, and eventually began playing with a group of pretty advanced older kids, who thankfully were very approachable. They put all those scales in a musical context, and each of their influences and styles come through in my playing still to this day.
I love it that he doesn't have a regimented practice and just jams, sounds like me... only with actual talent! Greg seems like a genuinely nice guy as well.
"Weaknesses? Well, I don't really practice" says the man whose fingers are constantly running up and down the fingerboard while he is answering questions...
Hahahaha.... I jammed with Greg Howe back in the mid 80's after his Duke band broke up.... Left his brother Al behind... I saw him in Tn and had a great time with him.
