Ms. Natalie, would you please do a video on how you work with an absolute zero formal training student, who is just starting and wants to learn how to sing? Someone who you maybe take from a tenative, throat voice and help them progress into a full rounded head/chest/mix singer? Make it a video series, maybe week to week so we can watch their progression, as well as see how you work with a brand new student who maybe isn't as rock star as all those in your private coaching sessions are :) Thank you for your consideration on this matter. Sincerely, a person who wants to learn to sing but hasn't yet.
That would be an amazing series! But I think she mentioned that she takes people that are at a 9.5 to a 10. Good luck on your singing journey! It can be frustrating at times but definitely rewarding!
I love that you showed a student who was genuinely struggling and frustrated with herself.. i think it really “humanizes” your students and shows that they arent these just amazing singers that correct themselves immediately
Kaylin seems to be able to learn and fix the small mistakes quickly. She gets IT. This girl has great potential (not to mention that she is already very good for her age).
I’m not sure what you mean by higher chest voice seeing as, as far as I’m concerned, there’s no such thing. Stretching your chest voice beyond where it should go causes a ton of bad tension which leads to vocal damage. I think you should look into the middle voice which is also called the mixed voice - that is how people are able to belt. It will most likely sound incredibly weak and break very often, but that is the beginning to building it. I recommend going to Instagram and watching Claire Hosterman’s videos on using middle/mixed voice. 🙂
That's where mixed voice come in. Notice where Natalie always mentions "speech mix" it's how she refers to a chest dominate mix if you want to look it up.
u remind me so much of my choir teacher when i was in choir and she had a hugeee impact on my life because i absolutely adore choir and music and singing in general..i just get so nostalgic from watching your videos because you teach so so similar to her and i just can’t help but smile and think about her
These help me so much! Like taking even some of the advice you are giving has really propelled me in my choir and drama programs at school so thank you!
agh. i love watching these videos so much, not just because you trained all of those people to the best technique possible, it helps me develope so much-taking the advice you give them helps me A LOT. thank you so much for sharing this :)
for years i'm coming back to this video now because of the amazing riff-girl (around the 1st minute) she! is! so! AWESOME!!! my goodness she sings like an angel and she is funny as hell! wow!
honestly it makes me so happy to see the first girl on here. like i’m so glad i’m not alone when i’m like FUUUCK WHY DONT I SOUND AS PERFECT AS THE VIDEOS ARE HOW DO I KEEP MESSING UP but it’s nice to see i’m not alone in the process
That girl at the beginning reminded me of the little girl who couldn't sing And I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston, except this girl can actually sing...
I love these videos you film with your students Natalie : ) But I was wondering if you'd ever do videos where you talk to the camera again? Where you maybe talk about techniques like the speech mix, show different exercises, or perhaps a q&a video on singing etc? I feel there's a lot of misinformation on UA-cam from other vocal coaches about singing technique, and you're the best vocal coach on here so we'd all love more info from you haha 😂
The first girl is my literal mood
