Just goes to show Vince was the reason Cole was so insufferable on TV. The guy is charismatic and a great conversation. After 20+ years, I'm now a Michael Cole fan.
I mean think about it, if you had an old guy screaming in your ear in the back and you couldn't react to that screaming you'd probably be insufferable as well. 😂
I remember there were two instances when I realized that Vince was the problem. The first was when Cole had to call Lawler's heart attack. Cole's professionalism combined with his heart and ultimate enthusiasm when he announced Lawler would recover at the end of the show absolutely won me over as a Cole fan. The second was Cole's call at Beast in the East. Finally hearing Cole building up the matches as he saw them, building up wrestlers, even mentioning their work in Japan prior to WWE was a revelation. Having been a fan of Cole's work with Tazz when they called SmackDown - their call of Eddie Guerrero's (RIP) championship win over Brock Lesnar is still one of my favorite calls of all-time - I realized right then that all the insufferable, repetitive shilling during their regular matches had to be due to Vince. I'm so happy that we finally get to see an unleashed Cole on a regular basis.
It's just so crazy to me how iconic a voice can sound in your head. Like some people have such distinct voices, maybe it's just WWE nostalgia for Cole's voice lmao
I'm so happy for Michael Cole. For so many "smart" fans, Vince dictated how he wanted Cole to sound (which was essentially like himself). Pat bought so much energy back to the booth and you could see it in Cole and here it from the broadcast booth as well.
No doubt. Watching old 1990s matches vs 2016 matches and its clear it was the same person, different voice. Watching Cole in the early 2000s Smackdown was a totally different experience.

It speaks to the peacefulness and patience of the people he's stepped on for so long.
I can't wait to see y'all hopefully back together soon!!!
WWE NEEDS PAT MCAFEE BACK!
Them now being together again on raw has made for some amazing calls and moments. You can tell Cole is really having fun and Pat is trying his hardest to break him it’s awesome.
Great interview but 9:42 is where we talk about life after Vince
Thank you
Congrats Pat!!! 🎉🎉🎉 keep on going brother & keep the same team with you that’s been loyal since one day !! Your show is an amazing inspiration!!!
Cole needs to be on the show more often!
*Mark Madden needs to be on the show more often!*
Fixed.
You know you're growing up when Michael Cole has become a favorite.
Michael Cole is a wwe legend. Truly underrated
I remember when Cole did only interviews and made his way to commentary, I had my doubts. I was a J.R and King fan, a Schiavone and Brain fan. No doubts now. Cole is a great commentator.
i have a lot more respect for maggle hes been great since working with pat and being more himself these past couple years
Cole for the broadcaster AND WWE Hall of Fame, the instant he retires (which i hope is many long years away).
Cole is so talented. Everyone was freed by the end of Vince's reign.
Michael Cole is the voice of a generation for the WWE generation and it sucks he wasn't appreciated as such
And to think one of their first proper interactions, Pat thought Cole was gonna fire him for wearing shorts at Mania 😂😂😂
This Is Very Rare. Since When Michael Cole Has Been Interviewed??? Good Job Pat.
Michael Cole and Pat McAfee both should enter the Royal Rumble. The face off would be epic!
free gump already
Free hat

Ayyeeeeeeeee way to go gumpyyyy
Free hat
Cole and Pat were a great duo to Smackdown reminded me of Tazz and Cole.
Seeing Pat in the Royal rumble would be amazing! ;)
Vince was the voice during the 80s with Mean Gene.
I always thought Cole did a great job filling in for JR when he was out with his Medical issue at the end of 1998 and that’s one of the main reasons he got the Smackdown gig. It also helps that Vince was more on screen and less gorilla at that time so Cole was able to be himself early on.
Then he went downhill once you reach the "Ruthless Aggression Split" with his constant "only on Smackdown" BS!
@@juicyfartsofjimcornette1154I think when he's with Tazz it's fine because Paul Heyman make both re-record the commentary without Vince on their ears but in PG era is where it went downhill due to Vince being a lot more control freak than usual
To me Pat gave life back to Cole that I hadnt seen since his taz days I also liked Cole and JBL on raw as well Ive always liked cole but to see that he finally looks like hes enjoying doing what he does happy for him 💯
Pat Mcafee has the best show in the world. I watch most if not all of them and this is coming from a Titans fan😂
7:25 Cole shootin 😂😂😂😂😂
