It saves you a lot of work as well. Plant once, have plants for years. My flower beds are nothing but perennials. Have been for the past 11 years, since we moved into our house.
This is the lesson I’m learning now- that gardening requires such patience and trust. It does seem overwhelming with the vast variety of plants/ flowers/ herbs/ etc, and each of their preferred care methods/maintenance. It’s hard to keep up with. But I’m learning.. and also letting nature do it’s thing. 🙂
One reason why annuals are actually great because many self-seed and manage to grow in unexpected, beautiful places. All along our greenhouse there are cornflowers and we didn't have to do any work for it.
I LOVE the succulent display on the table in the middle! Such a clever way to get succulents in the garden in an intentional and supportive way. They look like a loving collection instead of a low maintenance afterthought. Plus, perennials are AWESOME!
Couldn’t agree more! Russian Sage and catmint are my go-to and they never disappoint. I plop them everywhere, especially throughout the veggie gardens. 🐝🐝🐝
You are so right plus once they get big you can split them and have more plants to put around your house for no extra money. In the long run it's a savings because you don't have to buy each year like annuals. Your garden looks AMAZING! 👏 ✨
U guys have created a dream home and garden together. I am so happy for u both. U both show how much love and hard work it takes to grow a beautiful garden, flowers and home together. Beat wishes from Oklahoma. Would be a blessing to visit u guys. My oldest son and his boyfriend love to grow flowers, but only have a small place on their patio of the apartment. My son will love ur videos. Will give him inspiration to have their own place and the room to grow flowers and a huge garden. Ur an inspiration to so many. Keep up the awesome job.
Perennials are the way to go for sure! Especially native plants for your region. And when they outgrow the area, boom, You can split them and either share with friends or expand your garden even further. That’s a nice garden you have their! 😊🐝
Perennials are nice but you don’t want a barren landscape during the winter months. The only exception is if you live in a warmer climate . Most bloom for about two months . If I lived in a snow belt I’d have more shrubs
I love perennials and I have a ton too, but there's no arguing that most perennials bloom for a short amount of time, then you can deadhead and either they will flower again next year or MAYBE once more at the end of the summer if you're lucky. So you really have to do a lot of planning to make sure you ALWAYS have something in bloom, or , you can just additionally plant annuals that will flower constantly until first frost. I love perennials but they serve different purposes. One is not "better" than the other.
🏡. It's 2023 Guys ! I'm so Excited to tell you my heart of Inspirations in my Perennials Gardens is finally full of beautiful colors throughout the seasons ! Shady beds of hostas Full sun of hydrangeas , salvia double blooming lilacs , denim and lace sage and Allium , Asiatic Lillie's in periwinkle red and hot Pinks . Hibiscus. In pink with marchino red centers . How could this bee ? I've worked with love and intention . Now I am rewarded by GoD with the " HELLO " from Daffodils to tulips and my world opens to colors I've never seen every morning before and I'm transplanting and filling in the spaces . I am so blessed ❤ I just didn't think it would ever come to this Nanna . It Beautiful ❤
I inherited my grandma's property and there are hydrangea and gardenia bushes the same age as me. This is the first year the hydrangea actually looks healthy. How and when do I trim the hydrangea and gardenia? The gardenia is way too tall. When it blooms the limbs flop over from the weight. It's a mess. Help.
I agree with you but then you can just have a bit of a spot for annuals because they give their life for you in flowers. Oh I think perennials are the best but a pansy deserves a little bit of space🍑🍑🍑
If you aren't a perennial you don't make it on my property. The only exception are my planters. And if a perennial isn't doing well, a verbal threat of being ripped from the ground usually helps them grow. 😄
Is it truly this simple ? because I'm Exhausted . I'm older . My budget is minimal $. I have a few tools . I've gotten it all cleared ( except trees ) by shovel and mower . The weeds are overwhelming me . Rocks are my borders ( I dug them up ) I have 1 ( one )water line I must protect to go all around to water . I get behind . I like using cardboard , but on the paths I'm going to use fabric and place flat stones and pins until $ is available for pea gravel to settle it in. I 'm digging borders and 10° angled lines for better water flow to ensure better water flow downward on my cottage garden . I have no fence lines yet (future wish list ) . I have hand tools for which I am truly thankful and feel so blessed by God's Grace for strength and energy in this heat . I even climb a ladder with confidence and balance again . I have been in my home almost 2 years now . Not 25 but, 2 and I am Inspired by my first video of yours 🕯 I only plant Perennials. Annuals are a waste of a valuable $ for me . Thank You for this # Short . I'll be Watching . Keep it simple . Keep it easy & truthful . It will bless All of Us 💞
I have nothing against perennials, but it just can't beat the colors and smell from violets and tulips and geraniums and maiden pink, and many many of other flower species. More biodiversity is only good for your garden.
because annuals flower constantly until the first frost, and perennials only flower for a certain period of time, often only 2-3 weeks then have to be deadheaded and won't bloom again until next year, or at best they'll have a second flush of blooms later in the summer depending on species. But if I want a constant show of color from june to september, I need to plant annuals amongst my perennials.
I completely agree. 90% of my garden is planted with perennials.
We need more love for perennials, especially native plants!
Especially edible/medicinal/pollinator-attracting local perennials! 🥰
Great job, Kaleb. That’s the way to do it. Hope springs eternal!
It saves you a lot of work as well. Plant once, have plants for years. My flower beds are nothing but perennials. Have been for the past 11 years, since we moved into our house.
And dividing the plants year after year, you get so many plants for what you paid for! I love perennials ❤

Just select drought tolerant natives with a few non invasive exotics.

LOVEEE Russian sage!! Always full of pollinators and smells so good!
Love how symmetrical the bed is. Well done!!!
Just found your site and absolutely love it. Your knowledge and exuberance in educating us is a breath of fresh air!
Absolutely gorgeous! Thats a labor of love there.
You are so right plus once they get big you can split them and have more plants to put around your house for no extra money. In the long run it's a savings because you don't have to buy each year like annuals. Your garden looks AMAZING! 👏 ✨
I love your garden. There’s no way I can have that garden here in southwest Texas. 100 degrees temperature right now🥵
Try drought tolerant plants.
Try having a Mediterranean style garden. It’ll thrive in the heat and take almost no water
I love your garden, it’s beautiful
YOU ARE AWESOME ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beautiful! I love your garden!
W000000000W!!!!! Thats soooo beautiful!!!! Thank you soooo much for sharing this ❤️

Tips on where to plant and when
Your garden inspires me🎉! New subscriber

Just beautiful
Get yourself some sedums 😍 they are gorgeous and hardy asf
I totally agree about perrenials. Wiegelas are also so amazing and I also have a rhododendron that takes my breath away every year
just gorgeous
Love it!
So beautiful!
This makes me want to get into gardening. I'm not going to because I'm disabled and doing my usual stuff is hard enough but still 😂
Thank you I’ve been looking for theses types of plants .
The light bulb went on for me this year. I just planted my wheelbarrow with perennials. I might at a few annuals for a pop of color.
Perennials are nice but you don’t want a barren landscape during the winter months. The only exception is if you live in a warmer climate . Most bloom for about two months . If I lived in a snow belt I’d have more shrubs
Lol I thumbs up the video, before it even started playing😂
He’s 💯
And they awesome

Yup my pops does Perrenials gorgeous ouuu
I buy only high-quality perennials preferably slightly wilted for a discount they are expensive! Then I wait to divide them into recurring theme
I would continue that white Salvia right in front of the hydrangeas. That would look amazing.
Beautiful

It Beautiful ❤
Yes, there's a definite benefit them.
Help.
❤ I Agree completely !
I just left Bar Harbor and had been ogling the hydrangeas! Beautiful! Where did you find these? 😊
native perennials for sure!
So when you mowed the flower bed the plants where already there or you added them after? So if it's a silly question.
Already there. That's what it looks like after they've died off and been cut down.
Majority of my plants are perennials. This is the first year I planted annuals. The annuals are already dying off from the scorching Florida heat.
So beautiful! What was the name of the hydrangea?
A good garden needs both. Nothing like gladiolas, hollyhocks and snapdragons.
What is that chartreuse one in the front? And what is the dark green grass looking one to the left of it?
Dropping the mic in gardening here!!!
so you mow over your hydrangeas?
What is the name of the green bush in the front, near the camera?
Yey ❤️
I agree with you but then you can just have a bit of a spot for annuals because they give their life for you in flowers. Oh I think perennials are the best but a pansy deserves a little bit of space🍑🍑🍑
Does anyone know how well perennials do he scorching summer heat?
💯 😊
You mow the hydrangea down???
No, they mowed the annuals when they were finished, before planting perenialls
Why would people think they aren't worth it? You plant them once. Annuals you have to plant every year. How is that worth it?
If you aren't a perennial you don't make it on my property. The only exception are my planters. And if a perennial isn't doing well, a verbal threat of being ripped from the ground usually helps them grow. 😄
Who questions whether perennials are worth it?
Bonus, we don't have to spend money every year for flowers!

Hell ya salvia
💐💐💐💐💐💐
Wait... Wasps are beneficial?
im sad… i dont see any beautiful rubber mulch :(
I have nothing against perennials, but it just can't beat the colors and smell from violets and tulips and geraniums and maiden pink, and many many of other flower species. More biodiversity is only good for your garden.
I beg to differ on wasp being beneficial...bees absolutely! Wasp need to go back to the depths of hell where they originated from 😫
Perennials are better, but i will still plant annuals plants
Mmmmh nice salvia..... let's smoke some
Are you telling us they came back to life, after having been mowed to …the ground?
No !
Some bush have a bulky base you cannot mow
I don t believe you
as easy as not to buying it again next year...
….and you can split them up when they get too big!
Hydrangea can’t bloom until another year if cut to ground .
Some types die back to the ground each year
Salvia is a great plant to smoke! jk don't ever
Can not stand buying annuals! Waste of money!
I will never understand why someone would waste their time and energy every year to plant flowers that’ll die in a season. Plant perennials!
because annuals flower constantly until the first frost, and perennials only flower for a certain period of time, often only 2-3 weeks then have to be deadheaded and won't bloom again until next year, or at best they'll have a second flush of blooms later in the summer depending on species. All non-natives.
