Love The Alchemist. I remember I first heard his stuff through my older cousins cassette tapes (Back in the 90's when I was a snotty nosed kid). Then later I got into Dilated Peoples, and I would say, him and Dre as well as a lot of 90's producers/beat makers like you said, Dilla etc. all deeply influenced my love for Hip-Hop.
You broke a lot of the things I notice in Alchs production method down very nicely and it's incredible how much this can improve modern producers methods in keeping one very important thing strong, and you point it out quite vividly. That is, to accomplish the same goal but switch it up with more uniqueness. This very aspect in production is what I believe is at the heart of all hip-hop from that period. And Alch shows it in his beat making methods, in which you point out very well and guide us through like a real boss. Thanks Nav, you are a producers delight.

I think you’ll find, most sustained, pad sounds are already integrated in the original music, even before it’s sampled...you can hear it in most 60’s/70’s movie soundtracks

Love your videos man! Long time subscriber.
For sure Alchemist is my favorite too.
I wanted to know if you can make a breakdown of his instrumental for 360 Waves, Durag Dynasty.
The beat has two parts but what intrigues me is what he did with the first part. Seems like he layered different samples, but he used the bass hits as the kicks? It's really interesting.
    Thanks for the information!

I gotta say this. I've found your channel only a few weeks ago but subscribed after the first clip. Not regretting.
Although I've been making beats for a while your help has been immeasurable. Thanks to you I've discovered Momentum and I don't have to use Maschine and FL at the same time.
Today seeing the recommendation of the clip I knew it's gonna be good and you have absolutely nailed that Alchemist sound. One could be fooled it was him.
I too heard him about 20 years ago in GTA3 radio station with Royce 5'9 on a track. You said it's one of your two favourites but you gotta have some love for Preemo. Marco Polo is one of my favourite cats as well, I wonder what do you think about his beats.
Anyway keep up what you're doing. You're killing it.

@@NavieD You've got to do yourself a favour and check his other stuff. Many great rappers from boom bap era have put down some verses on his producer albums. Matter of fact he got so good Preemo himself acknowledged his work and they've done some projects together. Apollo Brown is also worth checking out especially his album with Joel Ortiz, masterpiece.
