Idol worship has become a serious problem. Be a man, you dont have to lower yourself to another man...except if you're into that kinda stuff. But keep it to yourself.
That's cause he's white we do everything better especially when it comes to Hip Hop the music we invented, Just ask Rick Ruben and the Beastie boys and Blondie! Word up!
I be amazed at how little most ppl realize how difficult this is and how much knowledge of music you have to possess to even put sh!t like this together. Definitely one of the greats I study
Al is literally a scientist on the beats. Ya'll not catchin' how he's sampling? Incredible. Jumping through different records until the sounds fit to his liking. From this vid, I feel the creation is sporadic and thats f*ckin awesome. Not too much planned but dammit when the vibes is right, then you know the rest is going to be true raw bad ass hip-hop for the streets! Much love and respect to ALC. In hip-hop, definitely in my top 5 greatest producers of all time. Hands down.
"Ya'll not catchin' how he's sampling? Incredible. Jumping through different records until the sounds fit to his liking." That's exactly what sampling is in general tho
Yea thats when it starts to taste harsh. When you first light up its taste great but when you get about halfway all that resin from the bud just kinda makes it taste like... resin. Im not saying its bad like wiz said "smoke it down till they stingers" . Berner smokes his js halfway too

This was probably one of my favorite projects from 2019, like I'm mad it didn't get more shine. That shit was too good. These two together make an incredible duo.
Heres one of his secrets for you ...when he programs his drum loops he has them slightly offbeat instead of starting on the line of the 1st bar they start slightly to the left or right of the line... he never lines up the melody sample with the drums exactly on the line...If you take one of his tracks and put it in your DAW then extract just the drums using Izotope RX7 plug-in then take those separate drums and try and line them up on your DAWS grid to the ones playing in his track you will see where they hit ...
This is dope, I'm glad Boldy signed to Griselda, aswell as Mass Appeal...That's a good look for him, still listening to My 1st Chemistry set 🔥🔥🔥 btw Alc that beat you did for Westside Gunn "Elizabeth" is still stuck in my head 🔥🔥🔥🔥
someone tell me how alchemist gets his snares to hit so hard, is it distortion? Tape saturation? limiting ? Or does the mpc 2500 magically do something ill to drums? Somebody has to have some insight on this
start with good samples, beware of transients (play with transient designer), layer shit (take the lows of a snare and the highs of a diff. one, layer a clap as well, also dont highpass always the snare since you might be taking the body out of it , plus all of what you said, also parallel comp maybe when getting mixed, just my 2 cents
Just adding to the already great answer - downsampling/bitcrushing your snare a little bit can make it sound nice and bitey, while a tasteful amount of tape/saturation for me is always good for getting a more blended organic texture. Transient designing also huge for getting it to sit in the mix the way you want. Key sometimes is to do a lot of small but deliberate adjustments with multiple plugins and not being shy to run a long effects chain or use the same plugin more than once in the chain. Less is more no doubt but sometimes you get a really unique sound when you get creative like that. Sound selection is king tho obviously. PS soft clip the shit outta snares if you want em to smack at their full capacity. Obvious tip but often overlooked. Hard clipping also got its place
Good ear for good samples, thats literally the only answer. Im betting he literally doesnt use anything that these dudes are suggesting and the beats are straight out the mpc. He just has a good ear and good source material
Well i'm peeping the sp 303 standing up with the isolator button on, not sure if that's before or after the MPC in his chain before going to protools or whatever. Some MPC 2500 magic I would assume as well.
Alchemist is a perfect example of focusing on the art and detaching from results. Legend...
