The Golden Girls at 29???!!! The recency bias is crazy here. There are only three sitcoms in television history where all four main characters won the Emmy and that’s one of them. Wow - just wow!
I first watched The Golden Girls as a kid. Didn’t get most of the jokes, but still enjoyed the comedy. 40 years later, I’m now a “Golden Girl” and I can understand the jokes. Also, I can now relate to many of the issues the women dealt with then because some things haven’t changed in 40 years.
I understand why it's missing, but the Cosby show deserves to be here. This is a sitcom list, not taking into account the real life actors behind the characters.
Mine is Mash second is Cheers, third is Andy Griffith fourth is I Love Lucy honorable mention Growing Pains, The Facts Of Life, Three's Company Too Close For Comfort Coach Home Improvement, Roseanne (80's) Get Smart (60's) Dick Van Dyke Perfect Strangers. Etc.
Although I agree with almost all of them, some other greatest sitcoms that I think could/should have made the list are The Simpsons and the Cosby Show, Family Matters and Full House.
MASH was not a sitcom. It was not a drama. It was a law unto itself. No show in the history of television has so perfectly weaved comedy and drama into something so unique and powerful. No matter how you categorize it, any lower than #1 is an insult.
1. Community (Honourable mention): community 2. Community 3.community 4. Community 5. Community. 6. Community 7. Community 8. Community 9. Community 10.Community
I thought The Cosby Show would make it. It was the biggest show of the 80s. I love Sanford & Son, but it's hard for me to say it is better than any on the list.
My list would be this: 30. Kate and Alley 29. 3rd Rock From The Sun 28. Sabrina The Teenage Witch 27. Dinosaurs 26. Unhappily Ever After 25. The Drew Carey Show 24. Home Improvement 23. Alf 22. Northern Exposure 21. The Nanny 20. Newheart 19. Hanging with Mr. Cooper 18. Clueless 17. The Wayne's Brothers 16. Shameless 15. The Nikki Cox show 14. Sister Sister 13. Everybody Hates Chris 12. Young Sheldon 11. That 70's show 10. Murphy Brown 9. The Connor's 8. What we do in the Shadows 7. My Name is Earl 6. Family Matters 5. Step by Step 4. Boy Meets World 3. Young Sheldon 2 Married With Children 1. Grounded for Life. Either I'm too old to remember some of these shows on my list or I've watched way too much tv but this is what my list of sitcoms would be.
My top 3 is…… 3. All in the Family 2. Seinfeld 1. I Love Lucy I think the reason that I love Lucy does not take the number one spot is because it came out in the 50s and isn’t as recent as Seinfeld
Modern audiences like jokes that you have to think about at least a little. I could tell you the punch lines to almost every joke on I Love Lucy BEFORE anyone says them
@ don’t get me wrong. I love Seinfeld. I am part of a group that quotes it day in and day out on Facebook, but in my opinion, if it weren’t for I Love Lucy, there would be no modern sitcom as we know it.
1. George Lopez 2. Children's Hospital 3. Spin City 4. Mike and Molly 5. Steve Harvey Show 6. The Parent 'Hood 7. Unhappily Ever After 8. Married With Children 9. Just Shoot Me ! 10. Malcolm In The Middle 11. The Big Bang Theory 12. Night Court 13. That ''70s Show 14. The Bernie Mac Show 15. Blue Mountain State 16. Grace Under Fire 17. Entourage 18. Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell 19. The King Of Queens 20. Saved By The Bell
American sitcoms* Blackadder, Only Fools and Horses, Father Ted, Still Game.. all should be in there, and arguably the first three should be in the top 10 of all time.
@@lusalma5404 As someone who thinks that Seinfeld is in the exact right spot; it's just a different generation. I think Seinfeld is HILARIOUS. Sorry, but humor evolved. When I watch some ancient show like The Honeymooners; I know the punchline of every single joke before I hear it. People from Gen X and younger get nothing from humor that's that predictable. Sorry if you don't get it, but comedy has moved on. You actually have to THINK at least a little bit as to WHY something is funny now. The days of "take my wife, please" are LONG gone!
My list (In somewhat of a particular order? 1. Mash 2. Family Guy 3. 3rd Rock from the Sun 4. Becker 5. The Drew Carey Show 6. Seinfeld 7. The Jeffersons 8. Frasier 9. Red Dwarf 10. Fresh Prince of Bel Air
A pretty good list and Seinfeld definitely deserves #1. I know it’s tough and controversial to make a list but hard to imagine family comedies shows like Everybody Loves Raymond or Dick Van Dyke didn’t make the list.
My little sister and I were first introduced to The Andy Griffith Show a little over a decade ago by our mom. We would’ve been…probably 6 and 8 or 7 and 9 the first time our mom showed us the show. We haven’t watched it in a lon time but we absolutely loved it during our childhood ❤️

I first watched The Golden Girls as a kid. Didn’t get most of the jokes, but still enjoyed the comedy. 40 years later, I’m now a “Golden Girl” and I can understand the jokes. Also, I can now relate to many of the issues the women dealt with then because some things haven’t changed in 40 years.
did you leave Malcolm in the Middle out or it's not considered as a sitcom?
I think once Abott Elementary has a few more seasons it will be a total classic. One of the few shows I actually keep up with on cable TV!
“Abort” Elementary? 🤦🏾♂️
Etc.
You forgot to put "in no particular order" in the title.
Parks and Rec should be way higher
Modern Family is easily top 5. Parks & Rec and Married with Children are also criminally low
I have never seen Schitt’s Creek but I have heard my mom watch it and it is hilarious. I really need to actually watch it
The Parkers, Moesha, Living Single, sister sister, one on one, girlfriends and the wayans brothers
Everybody Loves Raymond, F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Roseanne & Seinfeld
Frasier is always superior to Seinfeld and Friends. Mary Tyler Moore should be even higher. HIMYM is too dirivative of Friends to be on here.
Damn I am now realising how many good sitcoms exist bc many great ones were left out.
Although I agree with almost all of them, some other greatest sitcoms that I think could/should have made the list are The Simpsons and the Cosby Show, Family Matters and Full House.
Not sure how Sanford and Son and Dick van Dyke don't get on here, but a middling show propped up by a laugh track (Big Bang) does
MASH was not a sitcom. It was not a drama. It was a law unto itself. No show in the history of television has so perfectly weaved comedy and drama into something so unique and powerful. No matter how you categorize it, any lower than #1 is an insult.
Absolutely ground breaking. The FIRST "dramedy."
No Martin on this list. How!?!?!?!?
FRIENDS AT 7?!?!?!??! 😂😂😂😂
Could you BE anymore wrong.
You have lost all Unagi senses.
Youre right, far too high.
@@Betterthingswecanachieve friends should be in the 70s

Married with Children!
I thought The Cosby Show would make it. It was the biggest show of the 80s. I love Sanford & Son, but it's hard for me to say it is better than any on the list.
My list would be this:
30. Kate and Alley
29. 3rd Rock From The Sun
28. Sabrina The Teenage Witch
27. Dinosaurs
26. Unhappily Ever After
25. The Drew Carey Show
24. Home Improvement
23. Alf
22. Northern Exposure
21. The Nanny
20. Newheart
19. Hanging with Mr. Cooper
18. Clueless
17. The Wayne's Brothers
16. Shameless
15. The Nikki Cox show
14. Sister Sister
13. Everybody Hates Chris
12. Young Sheldon
11. That 70's show
10. Murphy Brown
9. The Connor's
8. What we do in the Shadows
7. My Name is Earl
6. Family Matters
5. Step by Step
4. Boy Meets World
3. Young Sheldon
2 Married With Children
1. Grounded for Life.
Either I'm too old to remember some of these shows on my list or I've watched way too much tv but this is what my list of sitcoms would be.
Yes! Murphy Brown! Should have The Bob Newhart Show and Newhart. Bob Newhart was a treasure.
How is it that you missed _The Dick Van Dyke Show_ ?
The Andy Griffith Show should be way higher!
30:19 we have a Mother Jefferson sighting!
Arrested Development - it was clever, smart, & funny. if not for certain circumstances I honestly think they'd still be making this show. 👨🏿💻
The ad placed between the legen and dary 👏 congrats to whoever did that 😂🎉
Where was The Nanny? I loved that show!!! 😄
My top 3 is……
3. All in the Family
2. Seinfeld
1. I Love Lucy
I think the reason that I love Lucy does not take the number one spot is because it came out in the 50s and isn’t as recent as Seinfeld
Modern audiences like jokes that you have to think about at least a little. I could tell you the punch lines to almost every joke on I Love Lucy BEFORE anyone says them
@ people can do the same thing with Seinfeld
@ don’t get me wrong. I love Seinfeld. I am part of a group that quotes it day in and day out on Facebook, but in my opinion, if it weren’t for I Love Lucy, there would be no modern sitcom as we know it.
Cosby show.. sure the main star was controversial but this show was Golden
Wasn't Cosby Show and Family Ties 2 of the biggest comedy shows from the 80s? Oh and ALF 😅
1. George Lopez
2. Children's Hospital
3. Spin City
4. Mike and Molly
5. Steve Harvey Show
6. The Parent 'Hood
7. Unhappily Ever After
8. Married With Children
9. Just Shoot Me !
10. Malcolm In The Middle
11. The Big Bang Theory
12. Night Court
13. That ''70s Show
14. The Bernie Mac Show
15. Blue Mountain State
16. Grace Under Fire
17. Entourage
18. Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell
19. The King Of Queens
20. Saved By The Bell
Most of those shows are awful guy
Yeah dude, George Lopez isn't even a Top 30 Show named George Lopez, you have mediocre taste.
They left out a lot of shows. Martin, Good Times, Living Single and more
The fact that The Cosby Show isn’t even mentioned is beyond criminal
Seinfeld is literally my favorite sitcom ever and I always had a strong feeling for all in the family too😩
How is Cheers not number 1 since it had a top five most watched series finale
These shows should be ranked by neilson ratings
American sitcoms*
Blackadder, Only Fools and Horses, Father Ted, Still Game.. all should be in there, and arguably the first three should be in the top 10 of all time.
Seinfeld may just be the most overrated show since television was invented.
Cosby Show absolutely belongs on the list. It was the number one comedy show in the 80s
Agree.
We can separate the art from the artist
No Home improvement or That Seventies Show?
I mean... the Honeymooners, The Odd couple... and no, hard disagree on Seinfeld.
Agree! That show was about as funny as a chapped ass!
@@HeelSection3825 I AM Gen X; and Seinfeld never, ever worked for me.
@lusalma5404 Well, I don't know what to tell you. You're a rarity. Those really old shows are lame AF. WAAAAAAY too predictable humor.
Seinfeld ♥
My list (In somewhat of a particular order?
1. Mash
2. Family Guy
3. 3rd Rock from the Sun
4. Becker
5. The Drew Carey Show
6. Seinfeld
7. The Jeffersons
8. Frasier
9. Red Dwarf
10. Fresh Prince of Bel Air
A pretty good list and Seinfeld definitely deserves #1. I know it’s tough and controversial to make a list but hard to imagine family comedies shows like Everybody Loves Raymond or Dick Van Dyke didn’t make the list.
You’re dead wrong. The Andy Griffith Show, number one.
Saved by the bell
The Cosby show
Family ties
should be there somewhere.
But you got one thing right, Seinfeld is numero uno!
I think Mash should be number 1, I love Lucy number 2 and number 3 Happy Days
