  • This film was made in October 2022 to support the work of Save Grange Lido Ltd, a Community Benefit Society (CBS) with charitable interests. Save Grange Lido is a group of dedicated volunteers working to reinstate the stunning Art Deco Lido situated on the edge of Morecambe Bay. The project has been ongoing for many years and in 2023 the local council finally began work on their first phase of redevelopment to refurbish and make the site safe. SGL is continuing to work tirelessly to make phase two a reality, the ultimate re opening of the site as a viable pool and community asset.
This film was released by Save Grange Lido in May 2023 across all their social media and website. I’m pleased to say that it was very well received.
However, I somehow ‘forgot’ to share it here on my Yellow Factory UA-cam.
So I shall right that wrong now.
This is a 14 minute narrated film which looks at the beauty and history of Grange-over-Sands; the history of Grange Baths and memories of those who swam there; the growth of Grange as a seaside resort after the opening of the railway in 1857; the growth of Grange as a hydropathic seaside resort where bathing and saltwater treatments were on offer and the origin of Wakes Weeks holidays across the north of England. With such a rich history to build on the film looks forward to the realisation of the dream of a brand new pool and of a valuable community asset for the town and the wider region.
    Please enjoy.
