Great video. Very informative. What tool do you use to bury the wire? The one with the wooden handle. Also where am I able to locate the gutter clips? Thanks again I’m advance.
Can multiple kits be connected? Let's say I wanna light 20 spots and the box only comes with 6 or 9 lights.
Are all the sets on their own transformer? Can you add additional lights to the costco kit?
Looks good!
Thanks!
What's that tree mount that you used?
Nice
Im a bit west of you in Tucson, Az. Im going to diy this in my front, side yards. As you are aware, we have those desert pack rats, javelines, and desert dogs to deal with. Plus I cant nail or screw light bases into a cactus. Going to be interesting.
I know of landscape lighting companies that light up homes in your area and I haven't hear of there being a problem. If you have a good fixture, bury the wire deep enough, and protect exposed wires you'll be good.
That looked great! Beautiful home, and lighting plan.👍🏻
Thanks! Yes it's a beautiful home!
I’m wondering. Is that home is newer construction?
@@BeforeBuildQC Yes. I believe its about5-6 years old.
AK Lighting great and very informative video. Thank you!
@@BeforeBuildQC Thank you. I appreciate it!
That trench digger seemed like quite the amazing individual. #TrenchingForLife 😂
Haha! He definitely is!
Next step, lawn cleanup…
Nice video. Any experience with the PM lighting from Costco?
No, sorry.
How would you deal with a front yard that has a street light that washes the whole front yard and front of the house?
This yard had a street lamp. Check out this video ua-cam.com/video/WC_ZAFvbRlA/v-deo.html Hopefully this helps answer all your questions.
Pour water to loosen the soil then trench.
I like that idea, but I really don't like trenching in Texas mud. I'll definitely give it a try!
Looks great! Did you run the cable on the roof line directly down in the gutter or zip tie it to the outside of the downspout? If inside the gutter is this safe to do?
I've done both and like both. Either way is fine and safe.
@@aklighting8292 thx! One thing I noticed in a lot of your videos is most of the houses have side garages so it’s a pretty straight forward design with lighting. What would you suggest for someone that has a front garage? Is there a way to send you a picture of the front of the house for input?
@@jasona4881 yes you can send pictures. Adamkeeler@aklighting.net
@@adamkeeler1299 Thx! Email sent
How do you like the Costco kit vs the fixtures u can buy on volts website? They both seem to carry lifetime warranty?
I prefer the fixtures from Volts website better, but the Costco lights a great. Yeah I think they all have lifetime warranties.
@@aklighting8292 what’s the difference other than the spots don’t have threads to mount to gutters or surface brackets?
@@webcrawler3332 That's the main difference. Other than that, the volt Fat Boy in Amazon kits is a fatter fixture, and the Top Dog is made better. Overall, they are all brass, all made well, and I think you are essentially just looking at A++, A+, and A, win win overall.
@@aklighting8292 thank you for your input I appreciate it.
@@webcrawler3332 You're welcome
Renting the trenching machine from home depot is not a good idea?
You could rent one. I just don't like the idea of ripping up a yard.
Thanks for taking the time to post your videos. In your 5 common mistakes video you mentioned placing each light about 1.5 feet from the subject. These lights are either closer, or farther, away that that amount. I guess knowing when the break the rules comes with experience? Also, the front door was not highlighted. Was that intentional, or is there only so much you can do with the Costco kit?
Thank you, I appreciate it. So the 1.5 ft is the standard, but as a installer, I have to do whatever the customer wants. They ultimately decide the distance, design, how many lights and I can only make recommendations. The customer in this video was pretty particular about not lighting up certain areas. Turned out really nicely. If it were my house, I would have added a few more lights. Hope that answered all your questions.
Solo beam lights are here also
Where is Isaac
You need to be careful screwing that conduit into the tree like that, you may not realize it as you haven't done this very long but it only takes 5-10 years for that tree to start growing around that and making it impossible to remove without severely damaging the tree, unless of course you advised your customer to perform season adjustments to account for the growth of the tree.
I completely agree! I use to use hardscape mounts as tree mounts, and about 5-6 years later the trees had completely engulfed them! I try not to mount lights on trees for that reason. I do tell all my customers about seasonal adjustments, but I don't think I've had any who has actually done it. Thanks for the comment!
You shouldn't throw those expensive lights like that.
That white LED lighting looks like crap on a house
Its actually 2700k on the house not white. It looks stunning! I honestly wish they would have gone with a whiter light. Sorry you don't like it.
What the house is missing to add color is some green bushes and small trees and thus add depth. The color only seems too bright because the fixtures are too close to the house as Adam post but that is what the customer wanted. When the fixture is too close then it creates hot spots. And I also think that the lights should be 3000K and not 27000K as used.
Nice
Thanks!
