എന്റെ ഇരുപത്തിനാലാമത്തെ വയസ്സിൽ ഒരു ദിവസം രാവിലെ എന്റെ പിതാവുമായി വഴക്കിട്ട ശേഷം ഞാൻ നാട് വിടണമെന്ന ചിന്തയിൽ വിദൂരതയിൽ കണ്ണുനട്ട് വിഷമത്തോടെ നിൽക്കുമ്പോൾ ആണ് ഇന്ദു സിസ്റ്ററും പാസ്റ്ററും ആദ്യമായി ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഭവനത്തിൽ കടന്നുവന്നത്. അവർ കടന്നു വരുന്ന രംഗം ഇന്നും എന്റെ മനസ്സിൽ മായാതെ പച്ച പിടിച്ചു കിടപ്പുണ്ട്. അവർ എന്നോട് എന്താണ് ഇങ്ങനെ വിഷമിച്ചു നിൽക്കുന്ന എന്നൊക്കെ ചോദിച്ചത് ഞാൻ ഓർക്കുന്നു. അവർ ഞങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ച് അതിനുശേഷം എന്റെ മനസ്സിൽ നിന്നും നാടുവിടണമെന്ന ചിന്ത എന്റെ മനസ്സിൽ നിന്നു പോയി.ഇന്ദു സിസ്റ്റർ വെച്ച വിളമ്പിയ ഭക്ഷണം ധാരാളം കഴിച്ചത് നന്ദിയോടെ ഓർക്കുന്നു.
