Just a quick note on the Bloodhound's Fang... although you can't infuse it with an Ash of War, it CAN be buffed with consumables and magic. That makes it one of the most powerful weapons in the game.
@Safetyman99 good call. I just completed journey 8 at lvl 375 as a dex/mage with Bloodhound's Fang, buffing it with magic and cold spells. It's ash of war is just so good and fun to use the R2 follow-up.
BH Fang carried me through my first playthrough until I picked up Bolt of Gransax, but I did still use it for many end-game enemies. It can be infused with greases too, which makes it even better!
I just beat Malenia on my 5th attempt. Just wanted to say thanks for all the vids you've done. You have helped to make a game I was curious about but apprehensive about trying one of the most rewarding games I've ever played. One thing I would love to see from you is your take on the lore. I'm talking a 4 hour discussion on everything. I like watching vattividya and others but would love to get your take on it.
I love the Bloodhounds fang and now use 2. I used it for 90 percents of my first over 200 hr playthrough and it wasnt until i got to farum azula that i realised its ash of war has a follow up attack haha
When I did the Scavengers sword build, I just paired it with a Bandits curved sword on my first playthrough. Not quite as powerful as a pair of them, and not as good as a few patches ago, but I still used it to destroy Malenia on a fresh runthrough a couple of weeks ago.
Good info to know for more my next play through using a dex build… I’m currently finishing up my second play through using my first mage build and loving it.. My first play through I used a strength build that was fun literally walking up and destroying everything…
This is it…I want to hear you as the official spokesperson for the FromSoftware team from now on. You’re just too kind, and too positive to not be! Keep ‘em coming, dude!
What’s the point though? Isn’t experiencing threat against enemies & bosses part of the fun in Souls games to begin with? Makes them more ingrained in your memory thus making them more memorable. Great video though, don’t want to come off as a hater.
With Bloodhounds fang after you hit the first enemy with your ash of war, before you press R2 for the 2nd strike, you can swap target's. So first hit kills one and the 2nd hit can go in a different direction for the next
I got the Bloodhound fang early at the Limgrave Evergaol and it carried me until I got the Blasphemous blade. Two truly mazing weapons imo. As you say the Teleport follow up attack is awesome, I always felt like I was hitting hard with that one. it took me ages to beat the Bloodhound knight at the time. I'd taken all the steps for Blaidd to be there but just didn't register his summon sign 🙄. Felt like a right idiot when I found out.
Great Video! Can't wait for the next one! In my opinion, ONE of the MANY awesome things I find about Elden Ring is just how AMAZED it can make me over and OVER again! LMAO! Pure Gold. 💯💯😎😆
I used the bloodhounds fang all the way to at least level 100 and it’ll always hold a soft spot in my heart lol. It’s kinda hard to go back to it. Because I used it so much. May have to give it another go!
Hey Dom, you said yourself the Faith weapon video is very much out of date, have you decided if you're going to re-do it? Playing a Str/Faith build atm and loving it, so I'd love to see that video revised. Sadly I haven't really found any other semi-recent videos on faith weapons.
One thing that slightly annoys me about many dex weapons is that it is still better to use a heavy affinity when two handing. I'm doing a playthrough two-handing the uchigatana at the moment, and you get significantly more AR from str and a heavy affinity than from dex and a keen affinity, for way fewer skillpoints. You reach the softcap when two handing at 54 str, and the AR is only a few points lower than with a keen one at 80 dex. Even after 54 str, it is better to put another 45 points in str up to 99 than it is to put those point into dex and apply a quality affinity. This is also true for the Nagakiba, Cross-Naginata and Godskin Peeler, among many others. Not the Guardian Swordspear though, that's always best with keen and dex, not matter what. Even at 99 str, 99 dex and two handing, the quality Swordspear does as much damage as the keen Swordspear. At anything below those levels, keen does more damage. Incredible weapon. I wish your dex would also increase with 1.5 when two handing, like str.
For the Guardian swordspear, I had better luck (and got 2 earlier) by farming the 6 or 7 guardians I'm the weeping peninsula. It was 7 runs here, whereas I had another character that used the one in the capital outskirts and took like 20ish minutes. Maybe anecdotal, but in case anyone is struggling with RNG-sus maybe an alternative
I know he didn’t say almost every dex weapons is top tier and strength only has a few good ones…this is what happens when people confuse flashy weapons with flashy weapons arts with good because I can smash the entire game with a heavy stony club with just endure on it like it’s nothing.
Random note: while I was doing the suggested grind for the guardian spear I found a 7th guardian still within range of the church. Not sure which one wasn't being included, but the one I feel not easily seen is the guy on the rock next to the wolf to the right of the guy walking on the path. Having an extra didn't help the grind not take an hour, though😅
Great video, appreciate the insight! I've been sitting on the Guardian's Swordspear for a while now, might have to +24 that one and give it a shot! What AOW are folks using with the SwordSpear??? I've had some success pairing Bandit's Curved in RH, with Scavenger's Curved in LH (add any ash you want to tailor for zone, fight, etc.). My go to while learning the game, has been the Reduvia in RH, and Scorpion's Stinger in LH ... this pairing simply melts most mobs I go up against. Especially when spamming Reduvia's blood blade.
Good video overall. The only pick I disagree with are the scavenger's curved swords. In the godskin peeler section you mention how it'll really shine on a dex arcane build with bleed infusion, but that's not what the video is about. Well, scavenger's curved swords are only good when set to occult for the bleed. They have lower AR than a lot of other curved swords on keen, don't have unique movesets (like the beastman's jumping R2 for example), and don't have the best range. The extra bleed on a keen infusion is very minimal. The best single curved sword that you can use on a dex build is the shamshir. It has the fastest normal attacks, and is also the longest in its reach.
I’m guess you have never used the scorpion stinger before…it’s absolutely horrible…most other daggers are way better….he should’ve included the great knife.
@@chriskotte8468 You are correct. I don't generally play with daggers. I've used the black knife, blade of calling and dual erdsteel on a pure faith build but that's about it.
I like bows and use them a lot, but barrage eats too many arrows so the cost is way higher than the runes you get, bit of the same with radahn spears for the lion greatbow, but 1 of those can do insane damage to big targets.
@Mr.OMMSSM something like that lol i had about 80 into des and 100 in ds3. I messed up just about every single quest. Trying to avoid that this time around for a change lol
Good stuff. I’ve done 7 play throughs now and all of these are too tier, other than the scorpion dagger which I’ve never equipped so I dunno hah! Black flame tornado eliminates Melania so easily with mimic tear. I played it on a faith build with only burn O flame equipped and my mimic just about soloed her
Regular Longbow with Rain of arrows +blood/cold arrows are devastating Vs big enemies (2-4k per shot, use only 1 arrow, and you can fire it twice faster than greatbow with same ash of war).
So I actually just found the Nagakiba sitting on the ground where you first encounter Yura with no explanation or anything. This was later in the game mind you. Not super far into it though. The Capital is still the Capital in my "world" at the moment. Being that I do like the Katanas I'm going to have to upgrade it and give it a go now after watching this video. Cheers! 😎 Ok I'm finished now, promise! LMAO 🤪🤪
Starting to wonder if we’ll actually get DLC, seeing how we’re closing in on the games 1-year anniversary without any announcement. I doubt they would release it close to the new Zelda, so I’d say either it will be released next month or the coming fall, but that would be an unusually long wait seeing how their previous expansions have been released within 9 months of their respective game I would love to have a reason to go back to the lands between, but I mean, Sekiro didn’t see a DLC despite selling well and receiving a GotY-award, so I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think that fromsoft might skip on dlc to prioritize shorter windows between their mayor releases
I wouldnt recommend dual wielding the scorpion stinger. You see, once scarlet rot has been applied, the scorpion stinger loses its advantage. Yes, wielding 2 stingers will apply rot faster but it also makes them obsolete faster for the duration of the fight. I think its best to use it offhand and maybe even swapping it once youve applied rot.
What type of build would you all say works best with dealing with all the enemies in the game bosses excluded. Most of the time bosses are way easier than the enemies in the levels
Doms, need your help, I have the godskin peeler, love it, but I cannot figure out how to apply bleed affinity while still keeping its original black flame tornado weapon skill. Have the black whet stone but on first play through. Help??😢
This is not doable. You can only apply blood affinity by putting an ash of war on the weapon that can be set to blood. Black Flame Tornado the ash of war can only be set to standard, keen, heavy, quality, fire and flame art. So you cannot have black flame tornado on a weapon and have it set to blood. Best you can do is use black flame tornado on a polearm with native bleed (like the naginata, scythe, vulgur militia saw)
Question, I have the scavenger sword but (xbox s controller). What are the controls for dual wield? Seems I can only one had it or double hand the weapon. Or is there 2 scavenger swords?
Dragonbarrow fork, head up the hill going right towards the erdtree avatar. They have more health than the other gaurdians I think but they drop more runes too. Good place to farm runes and the spear
How am I supposed to take this seriously when you’re displaying theses weapons on paper enemies in low level areas when the Weldon’s are maxed? Like seriously you’re killing soldiers in limgrave and Leyndel and then the old ladies at the dancing village and you’re not even one hitting them? Dex weapons are also mostly slash which is the worst weapon damage type in the game. All the strongest enemies and bosses are resistant to slash and status effects or they’re immune to status effects so half of these are losing AR because of the inherent bleed on them compared to their counterparts that don’t have bleed. This list is just justification for using his favorite weapons and nothing more.
Yes... On PS4/PS5 at least. You just need a USB stick and a friend to help. Step 1: save your file to the USB stick Step 2: summon your friend(or have your friend summon you) Step 3: go into your inventory and LEAVE the weapon for them to pick up (DO NOT DISCARD! Don't level past 150 if you want to enjoy the DLC as it should be experienced. Probably lower. Being high level just...cheapens the experience, you're cheating yourself out of a satisfying challenge otherwise.
