    Awesome review you covered everything I wanted to know about the ZV E1, for many years I've used my trusty Panasonic G80 with 12-60 kit lens for my style of vlogging, I don't like to be to close to the camera but also need a bit of a zoom when following my subject, I've never had full frame camera what lens would you recommend on the ZV E1 that wouldn't be to close for vlogging but would give me a zoom if required. The content I create is based on Motocross. Thanks

    Sony is always coming up with something out of left field that Canon & Nikon have never ever thought of... in a somewhat stagnate old market its refreshing to see that Sony is coming up ways to address niche markets. Now, they need to bring these new features to their flagship cameras too. I'm really hoping that they provide firmware to their loyal customers who have invested in these products.

    When you use Active Dynamic Stabilization (the highest level of stabilidation) is the footage still in 4k or does it degrade due to the crop factor?

    • @JevenDovey

    • @quirkyitalianexploration
      @quirkyitalianexploration Рік тому

      @@JevenDovey Thanks. I saw on DPreview's preview of the camera that in fact it interpolates back up to 4k during the crop so that actually it no longer is true 4k when using active dynamic stabilistion due to the sensor size (which is only 4k and not 6k or 8k like other cameras). So that kind of sucks. In the example they showed, I could see a noticeable loss of quality due to the crop and interpolation which didn't look too great. Still an interesting potential purchase for a lot of other features but a bit disappointing considering the Panasonic S5 mark 2 has a 6k sensor and subsequently you lose no image quality when stabilizing (apart from a tiny bit of wobble in the corners if below 20mm).

    Don't you think there's a problem with these bokeh backgrounds? When people want to watch somebody vlogging they want to see the background clearly as well.
    Also the stabilisation on this camera is not very good really.
    Does one really need to pay this amount of money or should one just get a zv1 with a wide angle lens?
    I can only see this being of use for those needing the interchangeable lens option, and image quality, especially for low light.
    However I'm not so convinced regarding if you're vlogging in well lit scenarios.

    ZVE1 is a good camera, but as a vlogging camera, it fails. The primary feature of a vlogging camera is that it should be able to shoot stable videos even without a stabilizer because vlogging is all about shooting videos anytime and anywhere, and you can’t carry a stabilizer with you all the time. However, Sony’s anti-shake function is very poor. ZVE1’s anti-shake function is very unstable when shooting handheld walking videos. Active Stabilization requires large cropping and affects image quality. You must use an external stabilizer every time you shoot. You don’t need to buy Zve1 at all. Other Sony models are similar. Even if you use a stabilizer, ZVE1 IBIS cannot handle micro-shakes well, and you still need to use post-shake reduction when you get home. A 20-minute 4K walking video takes more than 2-3 hours to convert in CATALYST BROWSE (even longer if your computer is not fast enough). As for Zve1’s AI anti-shake and tracking functions, they cause too much damage to image quality.

I used the lighting I had available. Also I only shot on the 20-70mm F4. Some people will perceive quality better if I was to shoot on a 50mm 1.4 vs an F4 because it’s more “cinematic” but the reality is you just have less depth of field in this video vs other samples you see on this sensor. If you shoot in ideal lighting with the right glass this camera will look as good as anything you shoot on an a7siii, FX3 or FX6 cause it’s the same sensor
