- In a segment from the April 1989 episode of my old cable show EYE SEE MUSIC is DEVO recorded live in Berkeley California on October 27, 1988. They perform two DEVO classics JOCKO HOMO and SATISFACTION.
Hell I love this version so much!!! How can it changed from post punk rock to acoustic like this??? Dammmnnn they are genius!
The genius of Mark Mothersbaugh
@@statman99 Don't forget about Gerald Casale
Absolutely Brilliant!!!
Stepped on a flyer for this show in Sproul plaza on my way to class. Great version of Girl u want followed as I recall. Never made it to class...
Stourley Kracklite I wouldn’t have made it to class either brilliant
I still prefer the original bizarre version, but this version is good too, and the reggaeish part near the end was well done. DEVO shows that they are capable of playing different styles of music, though always in their own way.
Awesome!! They did like MTV Unplugged long before it even existed. Mhmmm, maybe Nirvana knew about that video too!!
Dolores....brilliant observation , you are correct.
Yes, Devo were the first to ever conceive the very concept of performing their own songs on acoustic guitars. Anyone else who did so in following years is ripping them off
I was there at this very concert in the very front row having cut school to see them. So awesome. Was the first time of many I would see Devo live.
I'm a child of the '80s and the first time I heard Satisfaction, I was 10, listening to my older sister's friend's brother's mix tape. I admired more than I loved them. Nerd power. Years later, hearing Gut Feeling in both The Life Aquatic and Dogtown and Z Boys, I thought, oh yeah-Devo. Even more years later, after seeing Everybody Wants Some, I rekindled my relationship with Devo and found this video. I had always thought them clever and fun but turning this tune into what they played here just shows to me how incredibly talented and innovated they really are/were. I am not man but I am DEVO.
We are all DEVO'
smillsy71 Dog town Zboys is such a great documentary
Nice rendition of joko homo nicely done , ah but how bizzare was the original it was pure genius !
Absolutely love this version.
Wow! This is insane quality for 1988.
Ahh, Mark Mothersbagh and Jerry Cassale, what can I say, other than "oh shit, here comes some Awesomeness!!!!??
Dudes were seriously talented. Actually all of them. Tight band.
Thank u for rare footage. Today is the last day to vote for them to be in the rock & roll hall of fame.
I haven't listen to DEVO for a while, count in some years and then I had this exact version coming back in my head!
I have always loved DEVO, the most original group of all time!

Devo's piercing irony transcends time and space.

And the "Are we not men" bit was taken from the 1932 movie Island of Lost Souls.

Just buy one on the Devo fan site. Or do what they did, go to Target and buy a pot.
Where’s Brett, their drummer?
What a f**king band
O m g :,0
Where is the drummer? WTF
Oh no, it's Devo! Really, Oh fucking No!!!!!
Well, continuing, this is what I believe. Devo would have fit effortlessly in pre war nazi Germany. A large splash of Dadaism, culturally ambivalent, reckless, and unforeboding. Relegated to the backwaters of the garish cabarets. All style and precocious content. Send in the stormtroopers.
You mean the later Weimar republic.
We
Mark's guitar is wildly out of tune.
Why didn't they ever do an mtv unplugged.that would have been AWESOME 😮
Devo unplugged!
Wow!
