Aside from larger sensor with increased resolution, what ZWO really needs to do is mount the sensor in a motorized, rotatable, module with an encoder. This would allow rotating the camera to properly frame up a target, as well as functioning as a field de-rotator during imaging sessions. It would effectively eliminate the need for equatorial mounting except for objects near the zenith.
Thank you for this information. I think the current Seestar has no teething problems, and is proven. My first Seestar is due to be delivered today. It's a shame that the weather is going to be bad in the near future.
They just released a second photo this morning. This is NOT an upgraded S50... its just 1/3rd of the size of the S50 and it a widefield competitor to the Dwarf III.
I also metal detect and metal detecting manufacturers are constantly doing this when they release a new product. They show a certain side and a short while later release a new product and people do the same thing sell their old equipment to get something new. Someone tried to figure out the lens size by using the control box as a base but I am thinking that control box is wider, we shall see.
My guess is that THIS image is an SS50 with the ability to have a camera that will rotate with the sky. The small camera will act like a guide scope to accurately rotate the camera to maintain the framing. EQ BABY!
I'm keeping my eye out on FB groups for good buys. There is a great astronomy forum called Cloud Nights too in which I've bought and sold a bit on over the years. Might be good to keep an eye out there too.
No it's a 30mm objective. ZWO are intent going toe to toe with DwarfLabs. Incidentally might explain why they have taken their concentration from updating the ASiair properly.
Thanks for the reply. Seestar is a brand and I would guess Sam Wen is ecstatic how successful it’s been. “ZWO Optics has officially introduced the all-new innovative astrophotography brand - Seestar!” store.seestar.com/blogs/news/seestar-inviting-you-to-share-intelligent-astronomy-life Cheers and clear skies to you!
Yea, the more I read the more I think it's just about maybe making mosaics easier? I've tried putting the S50 on my star adventurer wedge but then still have to go through an elaborate game of fooling it as to my lat/long. A pain. What improvements do you think it will bring?

Thanks the update. There's a rumour that they're bringing out an 80 and a 120 seastar.

Usual curse of a new scope. More reliable than a "rain dSkies!

I'm hoping it comes with a 585 sensor for under $700.

Just better sensor and mosaic, I think. They would never give us all we need from it (like eq, 60 quad and top sensor, etc.)

See star is not the brand, that would be ZWO, what you should be saying is more Seestar news from ZWO.

@@UTRMidwestat least it must be able to compete with the new dwarf 3. Any EQ mode at least in the software seems to be a musst, I guess
It's called field rotation
