When told a German army would be twice as big as their own army in the event of invasion, a Swiss general said we will simply use 2 shots to kill the enemy instead of 1.
However in reality diplomacy and trade became the main Swiss shields.
@@heyhoe168 It was very useful for the Germans to have a neutral Switzerland. They could do deals there that weren't possible in wartime Germany. Plus they could syphon off money a nd valuables there that would have ended up in the Allies hands.

We hear a lot of Switzerland's planned defense against invasion and while that's very important, I've wondered what the plans were to take back the territory that had been lost.
full guerilla warfare until US/OTAN Intervention or support, ;) Kiss from switzerland
die, artillery, die, lose, die. I'm sure they have plans but they're probably very Guerilla, as attacking in Switzerland is hard for anybody, especially if you have no logistical support from anywhere in the world safe from enemy fire. Switzerland would have virtually or literally nothing safe from enemy fire. Unless they have some extra insane facilities in the mountains...
They probably know they won't be able to do that. Their goal is to make an invasion so costly that nobody will try.

After seen the war in Ukraine, the Swiss' doctrine wasn't that bad. They were right. Trenches and sheer will is the main weapons against a modern army.
So are modern weapons, which the Swiss didn't lack either
I know there are other cold war army videos and people made fun about the swiss for using a WW1 tactic.
you do realize that this is utterly uncomparable right?
@@tavish4699 In what way specificly?
The reason ukraine turned into a trench warfare was because tanks were basicly outknocked by javelins ect.
Tanks are for 60% of swiss terrain from the get go useless. Hence Infantery and therefore trenches or tunnels will come around.
What made the trenches almost obsolete in WW2 was the fast pace take out tanks and everything slows down.
im saying you cannot compare ukraine, one of the most flat countries with one of the most mountainous
