you mentioned in another video.. so i gotta say, teeth well done. well worth whatever you did. i had extensive work on mine a long time ago, best decision (and expense). what ive learned so far is you cant really fix a crawspace. you can encapsulate it but its still temporary.. its just a time bomb underneath your house

I have been looking at some houses in Missouri with crawl spaces and after watching your videos I will never buy a home with a crawl space

The salts on the brick faces caused by water ingress is called efflorescence.

Find a crawlspace and you’ll find a problem. Problem is that during home construction all crawlspace are created byl default. If time and effort went into a crawlspace as part of the original build, the space … it may be an asset.

Once again , Excellent Video !!…I’m just still a little confused about the Beatle thing ??
If you have a nice encapsulated crawl space , how do Beatles get in ??..and can an exterminator company treat it like they treat termites ?

@michaelfoust-d2k how the beetles got in. It's South Carolina we have them all, unfortunately. If they haven't infested the upstairs living area, then removal of all crawlspaces insulation and spray all the timber with any product labeled for old house borers. It's a very big job. That crawlspace measured around 1900 sq ft. I spoke with local pest control company. The price to remove insulation and treat was $6800.00 . Ouch. The plastic ground barrier will most likely get ruined. That's an additional $2,00 a sq ft. Another ouch.

If it is going to cost $40k, then I think I would look into making the crawlspace into a basement.

you cant excavate it without collapsing the house above tho. footers, side walls all that is not deep enough. and if you dig down around them, you dont have enough earth left to support them. and if you start replacing footers down to new basement height you are looking at way above 40k to the point of lol not worth. besides, also hand labor to do that since you can't get an excavator and grader in there. the stuff of dreams. it's possible sure, just absolutely unrealistic. but possible! if you had musk money do it just for the memes
