    You can get louder with the Tannoy speakers with less distortion. The JBL brought out all of the good tones of the sample music.

    Tannoy wins for sound and bass extension. JBL wins for price! That being said, they are both great!!

    Beautiful Tannoy gold 8.

    Why are you comparing an 8" speaker to a 6"? Would not a comparison with the JBL 308P MKII been more appropriate ? I dig these Tannoys but would like to hear them up against the 308s before I spend twice the money.

      amazonpoodles I’d also love to hear Tannoys against the 308’s!👍🏼

      If you want something that sounds amazing while playing or playing around, that's silly accurate especially with punchy type music, it's Tannoy.

    I already have the JBL LS305's and one tweeter is finally calling it quits on me but I relied on them for years of super nearfield accuracy. I am hoping for the same from the Tannoy pair.

    • @jcpuga
      @jcpuga Рік тому

      Same....did you end up getting them?

    • @By_Rant_Or_Ruin
      @By_Rant_Or_Ruin Рік тому

      @@jcpuga I did but they are gathering dust as I am remodeling my downstairs into a new recording area with booths - by myself. The Gold 8s are a bit sharp so not flat like the JBL. They also can act like a megaphone with pronounced mids, but they are a good back and forth to the JBL to make sure you don't over accentuate the highs or miss noise the JBLs might smooth out. Plus they are so beautiful to have around. My god they are designed well.
      I also got a pair of KALIs with the 6" and they hiss but they are flat and full spectrum and have a very adjustable and usable image a tad wider than JBL. So I switch between headphones, KALIs Tannoys and then I have a small Bluetooth speaker for testing for too much bass or sizzling highs or edit clicking etc.
      I also use my home theater to test my mixes and there I use JBL Studio 580s out in the room, with and without a subwoofer. Then I head out to my car to make sure the recording isn't too forward and sizzled.
      But yes I got them and don't regret it. In a treated room you need a sub with them even though they are 8's the bass is insignificant when compared to the final mix.

    Hey I was looking through your videos and you haven’t compared your Mackie 524s to the Yamaha HS8s. Do you think you can do that shootout? And I think that a video comparing monitors with and without isolation pads would be great with frequency response graphs to show the differences.

  • @crate718

    JBL is way better then tannoy in this video by far. for the price Tonnoy is sweet

  • @By_Rant_Or_Ruin

    I noticed that the smaller units you generally have them set up at some kind of angle (good) where as the larger units you have pointed basically forward at 180 (bad). So in the video with Adam T5V vs Genelec 8020, they are all clearly pointed toe in quite a bit when compared to any other unit so the center image and highs would be - obviously - more crisp and in your face. Is there a reason?
    I set my listening field but always angled the same. The only true adjustment I make per monitor design is on the vertical plane to find timing and fall off when it comes to near field monitors and of course distance between two units. Any insight you could offer in your process would be good.

    Great selection of test tracks (but most importantly the files have been well level matched)! I was completely sold on the Tannoy's. Much more true to the source than I expected. Somehow during Dream the Dream the Tannoy showed it's only weakness I was able to hear. The vocalist was a bit buried in the mix and couldn't hear the detail in the reverb. Other than that, seems like a great speaker.

    Just keep watching those videos over and over. I'm going to ask if there's somebody who can help me with a dilemma? Want a pair of stereo speakers that can be used in a 20m2 living room that does have a Good Bass (no need for a sub) and clearance, mostly for music. Budget is around 500€. Thnx a lot!

      I got my fx50 back. They have very bad build quality, both monitors have low-frequency speakers rustling at frequencies below 100 Hz. In some places, you can see glue. I highly do not recommend buying them.

    • @sergeysmelnik
      @sergeysmelnik 4 роки тому

      pavel verveyko I got my fluid fx80s. Theyre ok. Theres a major dip at the crossover frequency and a peak at 10khz. Theyre bassy with recessed midrange and the 10khz peak is noticeable. Theyre build quality is fine. Nothing loose. They do however produce a lot of self noise. I could live with them but Im picky and will be replacing them with tannoy gold 8s.
