I didn't like him when he was here in Columbus, and I can't stand him with Winnipeg either. I've only ever tried to talk to him once, and that was just to ask him about hockey. I didn't want a picture, or video, or signing, or anything like that and he was a complete prick to not only me but others. After that I lost all respect for the guy, and knew he's likely just a outright piece of shit on and off the ice. As a forward I appreciate when the goalie understands that it was a bit of an unfortunate situation where the player couldn't really do anything so they don't immediately snap and go after the player. I've played for about 17 or 18 years, some of those years once I started playing mens rec I even played on three teams and in my entire life I've taken around 20 total penalties, all minors with no double minors, no majors and no game misconducts or suspensions. All but three of my penalties have been tripping with most of those being guys stepping on my stick. I would never intentionally try to run a goalie (in fact someone running my goalie is really the only time I would ever lose my cool on the ice) but at the same time during play I'm going to go hard to the net on scoring plays which occasionally can lead to situations like this one. I like to play hard between whistles but I don't want any part of any unnecessary after the whistle crap.
      Funny story: One time in mens rec I went to cut across the offensive blue line going 1 on 1 and for whatever reason their dman decided to hip check me. I ended up going airborn and pretty much did a front flip landing with my left skate and right knee on the ice. Everyone else on the ice started a scrum and I just chilled there watching the scrum with my one knee on ice, leaning on my stick like an 12 year old at practice when coach is at the whiteboard as I laughed at what just happened, not the slightest bit mad. In all seriousness if it was contact hockey it would have been one of the best hip checks I'd ever seen. Funny thing was, I was by far our best player and the guy who hit me was by far their best player. If his thinking was "I'm going to hurt their best player so the two best players are gone and we can easily win the game" it proved to be a bold strategy because with him gone for the hit and me not the slightest bit hurt never missing a shift we ended up winning the game 8-5. Unfortunate it didn't happen in the mens league here that has video cameras in the rink and streams games online because I'd of loved to watch the video and definitely would have sent it to Pavel Barber as the whole situation was pretty funny for a mens league game

      Eh, this is entirely on Dubois though only that last dumbass shot and then the reaction going at Sid for it should draw ire from people, the initial sequence was accidental and the Dubois "push" was more just from momentum I.M.O.
      Sid tried to cut in front of Hellebuyck but Dubois' stick pins against Helle and trips Sid who then gets "pushed"/nudged forward onto Helle with Dubois' stick under him and then Dubois lifts his stick causing Sid to roll onto Helle's head.
      It happened fast and was unfortunate but nothing "dumbassery" about it till he goes full retard with the second shove on Helle's head and the reaction BS, Dubois must have been hit in the head too many times himself.

    I love hockey, and I've always been fine with the fighting aspect of it, as well. But my one gripe (other than some bad officiating) is all the fake "tough guy" acts that go on. The constant need to be offended by any little thing, so that you can go shove someone around and cat fight with him, so you feel like you're sending some kind of message. Sorry, but that's just pathetic.
    Here, we see a guy clearly push a player into his own goalie; not hard, but just enough to send Crosby off balance, and yet he wants to act mad about it. Give it a rest. We all know what you did; you know what you did, and everyone knows that you're trying to earn tough guy points. Nobody is fooled. Just sit down and shut up. I'm absolutely sick of watching these little phony shoving (posturing) matches after nearly every whistle. It just bogs the game down.

      @KingSulley 2 роки тому +2

      I mean thats the history of the game. If you watch back to any of the games through the 80's and 90's almost the entire league was filled with nothing but guys playing the tough guy, outside of a few actual tough guys, and the rare player who could handle the puck really well or skate quick and if you were one of the later it meant there was a target on your head.

    • @eddiestanford7308
      @eddiestanford7308 2 роки тому +4

      @@KingSulley Yeah, there is no consistency in rule enforcement. And NHL refs have exactly zero accountability. I watched the Avalanche get called for too many men on the ice in overtime against the Predators, and it turned out that the refs had miscounted, as replays clearly showed just 3 players on the ice. No correction was made, the Preds scored on that power play, and weeks later, still not even as much as an apology from the league.
      But it's the slashing and cross checking that really drives me nuts. They either call nothing, or everything, it seems.

    • @ShinyMew76
      @ShinyMew76 2 роки тому +1

      Fights in hockey are a good thing, they add an extra bit of spice to the sport, as well as letting teammates stick up for one another. Although most fights occur because of an injury, rivalry fights are also good for the sport. It’s when the fights become completely unreasonable, such as when a player is quite literally apologizing to the injured player and making sure they are ok, as seen in the video.
      Again, rivalries are a great thing in the sport, fights are very much a part of being rivals in hockey, it causes energy to build in the building, and it also is just part of the teams showing dislike for each other.
      On the other hand, when players get injured *intentionally*, it’s right for someone to stick up for them. As seen in the video though, Crosby clearly is apologizing and making sure the goaltender is alright, a fight is completely unnecessary in this situation.
      In the case of say a dirty hit, a fight is perfectly acceptable because the team is sticking up for the victim of the hit.
      In the case of a rivalry, it adds more to the game, making the rivalry more intense.

    To me it looked bad until I saw the 2nd to last camera angle. Crosby does all he can to avoid contact with the goalie's head. He makes his left shoulder practically disappear. Had he chosen the other way, that poor goalie would have left the building in an ambulance. It all happened in a fraction of a second. It's not luck, it's just a player making the conscious decision to show some sportsmanship. Many other players get10x that amount of time to make a decision in similar situations and they pick the other option. Perhaps in that split second Crosby had flashbacks of previous injuries he suffered. And did not forget that the opposing team players are human beings too.
