5 CRAZY WAYS SOCIAL MEDIA IS CHANGING YOUR BRAIN RIGHT NOW! Ever wonder how social media affects your body and brain? You might be surprised! We break it down in our latest video here: ua-cam.com/video/HffWFd_6bJ0/v-deo.html
Anybody else has that eerie feeling of being into social media so much? It has become a lifestyle, a life choice. It's like you don't realize it is shaping your life already, keeping you from seeing what truly matters in your life. I don't like that feeling that I am being a slave to these things. I better exercise caution and self-control.
Not a new concept Television changed everything so did radio,Telegraphs Telephone just a few....No question permanent change "evolving" good or bad & un avoidable are occurring..the cool thing with the tech now they probably don't need to wait 50 years & accumulate research studied & put it together.. it happens realtime now.Social media & the internet are unbelievably amazing & incredible & at the same time empty & I'm completely tired of it but addicted/enslaved.Similar to some of the sensations of alcohol drug Nicotine addiction & the wonderful dark trappings
Vanessa Pareja and i kinda have to keep social media to keep in touch with one friend who doesnt own a phone. So i end up looking at news feed. Ive told Every one ill leave. But i cant
LemonZeppelin You don't really need that, I mean sitting on your chair everyday can make your memory bad, you need to see friends, go to cinema or in restaurants with your family, living the same thing everyday will make you think your memory is bad
Donte West got my first phone at 14. Got an iPad when I was 12. I'd like to believe I function normally. Can't really live without tech though as most of my school work and notes is done in Microsoft word and handed in online and even the lessons are online.
That first fact actually worried me a little. I spend a lot of time on Twitter and I get annoyed if it loads slowly, but I've also gone a week or two with little or no social media usage and found it refreshing. I definitely think it's harming our abilities to multitask too, the more devices we use. It seems productive but it's the opposite!
I'm an extremely introvert person, so I haven't used any social media except youtube in half a year. I just text people when I *need* to and talk to people when I'm near them.
The thing is, If you put your phone down and go outside and do something really fun, Like swimming, infection (you know games like that) You will have so much more fun than using social media.
+Meow Biatch where I live has no sidewalk nor even a shoulder on the road or flat land next it to walk on. And once you leave my neighbourhood, there is a good deal of traffic and wi day roads. lol where I live is not pedestrian friendly
Definitely want to go back to the old days when there wasn’t any social media bugging me. It was better running around outside and playing with friends instead of being at home doing nothing all day, just liking random posts on Instagram and Twitter
Unfortunately UA-cam isn't so innocent anymore. UA-cam is now programmed to exploit vulnerable psychological interloops that have very similar patterns as Social Media. Basically, it's now wired to get you addicted and keep you addicted
If that happened, I don't know what I would do tbh. I mean I would start freaking out that we are getting nuked or something, because I would be totally disconnected from information. And Destiny requires internet, so can't play my favorite game! >_
You know Nathan, if you were nuked you would probably have a bit more to worry about than being disconnected (you know, because you would be dead and all)
I'm very concerend with how many people are flat out addicted to their phones. It seems everywhere you look (espeically a place like a school), cell phone use is very common and constant. This is not good man.
+egagnard I agree, It's mostly the girls that are addicted to it, and take selfies. though guys to do that, honestly I hope my generation doesn't procreate. They would make terrible parents since they're full of themselves and would be too busy taking selfies.
+Alejandro Cabrera Excuse me? What's wrong with selfies? God forbid someone takes a picture of themselves when they look good. God forbid someone actually *gasp* feels confident! And don't compare phones to children, we're not idiots. Obviously we know when to put a phone down. And you know what? Even though people are complaining about how phones make us less social, do you know what most people do on phones? They talk to other people! It allows us to talk to our friends even when we're not physically next to them, which is pretty damn great.
egagnard I just wish selfies died. nowadays you can't take a picture of your friends without them feeling awkward. also cellphones suck for meaningful pictures.
Haha. As a non-addict of the Internet, I would totally want to see this one day. At least for an hour or so. Complete Internet vanishes, nothing works.
2:33 is very true. most successful relationships were developed online. this is because most people nowadays are more judgmental on how a person looks rather than how they act. if you meet the person online, you have a 50% higher chance of the relationship being successful, as you can judge the person on how they act and not how they look.
i can never understand people that use their phone all the time, can someone tell whats so great about receiving a text, i get annoyed when people text me
ImBoundChaos I don't like receiving texts, I just get them a lot. If I do get a text I feel like I need to reply. I always take my phone just in case I need to call the emergency services
Kadu Penuela LOL! I sometimes power off my cell phone and put it down on the desk, then out of the corner of my eye think I see the screen turn on. So I look over and it's still off. Phantom screen.
It is true that internet users, including me, are unable to control how much time they spend online. Besides, our conversation by face to face is less than communication in social media. I couldn't agree more that our brain and behavior may never be the same because of social media.
People who use social media and internet more than 4 hours a day, ask them to stay away from internet for 3 days. I am sure that they will feel irritation and anxiety.
Lol since I went on a vacation Iasted 2 months without Internet. And then the company got bankrupt and I had to wait 7 months without Internet because we didn't move houses like we were supposed to. I got my internet 5 days ago.
i'm my opinion, technology can definietly be productive or regressive depending on our ability to separate it from the reality we truly exist in and how we can move past vicariously living through our social media identities.
I HATE ONLINE DATING CASUE 1.you can't see them face to face 2.they might be cheating on you 3.They might have lied about there age 4. in real life they might be bad and really different 5.online dating rushes into the relationship without knowing each other or seeing each other 6.You won't feel love when you do online dating 7.They probably ask to much about u that they come to your state one day and find you and stalk u. 0_0 8. ITS IN EVERY KID GAME!? AND KIDS ARE GETTING INFLUENCED BY THIS BEHAVIOUR Thats the reason online dating is stupid :3 don't judge me
Well, I am 10% of those who has trouble getting off internet addiction--the reason I can't stop is because of fear from losing the stimulating ambiance that keeps me creative and productive.
Our public school system needs to get it together. I seriously think that lecturing about ACTUALLY interesting stuff is very helpful, and encourages the kid to try his or her hardest in that class. I'm so sick of falling asleep in American Government, English 3, Pre-Calc and Earth Systems. Seriously, I don't know how they do it, but they seem to make me drowsy 10 minutes into their lecture. I'm just thinking of my kids and how I might put them through online schooling.
Just a bit of advice-be careful from who you get the online schooling and make sure that your kids have a chance to physically interact with other people around their age,or if they're mature for their age possibly older.
iliketacos518 My friends do that too. But the tests kill me, and I suck at remembering grammar rules. Hope I can get a 21-25 on the ACT. The Pre-ACT I got 23, but I'm scared it will be harder than the Pre one. ;(
***** yeah i feel you, my spelling is deplorable i have a big exam comming up in 6 months that determine whether i get to do what i want to do in university or if i even make it into university, and barely scraped by my last major exam
I met my now husband on World of Warcraft 6 and a half years ago. We never sent a picture to one another and saw what the other looked like for the first time in real life when my husband traveled from Belgium to the UK to visit me for a week 2 months after knowing one another. We got engaged that week! And are happily married with two daughters! I think it was the things we said to one another online and our personalities that drew us in. Although I am very attracted to my husband. ;)
Great analysis and explanation of Internet addiction. I've never heard of phantom vibration syndrome before (and haven't experienced it either, luckily). I think the higher percentage of successful partnerships among those who met online is because the filtering process in online dating is much more detailed and intense, so it's unlikely for people to end up on a date with someone whose views/interests are severely incompatible.
What you are saying actually is problematic for dating. Because people have more of a tendency to be very picky and judgmental on different opinions, rather than trying to work out and/or through those differences. And indeed, if I am not mistaken, relationships are much shorter than 8 years ago.
Very interesting to learn about the differences between communication face-to-face and through social media. It's true, you do become more self-involved.
This is why I try to take breaks from Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. I have a pretty decent sized following on all of them and you get addicted to seeing that lil notification at the top of the page everytime you log in and I dont think thats too healthy for me haha.....UA-cam on the other hand is another addiction I just cannot break haha
The irony of this video directing viewers to IG & other social media platforms for more content after they’ve laid out the platforms’ detrimental effects.
Hey! You're so close the 3 million. So I'm just gonna say congrats now. I love the channel and all the interesting and cool videos you come up with. I know that each and everyone takes a very long time to make, and I appreciate all the effort. Thank you for being awesome!
True social media is the worst addiction we all are into. I call it Digital Slavery, we are into this era. We all are enslaved by these technology platforms. Breaking out is in our hand, but we tend to choose otherwise option.
I can confirm that this is 100% true , i had a good memory since i was a kid and now i'm i can't remember clearly the details of my life , my lessons and i can't concentrate in class , i don't wanna ruin my life and future anymore
I think it's amazing that social media can be addicting like drugs. It is also interesting that social media is more addicting when we talk about ourselves. It's sad that 80% of our online communication is all self involved.
Explains why I've watch like 15 of your videos in a row lol. I'm addicted. Also I seriously have that phantom vibration syndrome stuff happen to me at least once a day. Awesome vid guys!!!
The number of people who use their phones all the times is astounding. I remember I got grounded during the end of the school year and I felt so lost without my phone. I didn't realize until then how many people (including myself) use their phones instead of actually communicating. I think it improved my work ethic because I didn't have anything to distract me. Anyways, this is a really great video. :)
I'll have to admit that I'm more addicted to the internet and UA-cam mostly for educational and informational purposes especially the AsapSCIENCE channel nowadays on whatever benefits and relevant to me and occasionally watch decent UA-cam movies instead of other social media such as Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter which I've never subscribed.
sometimes i kinda wish that i had an excuse to not use the internet for a month or so. like if it ever shut down (i know thats not possible but) idk i just want to be forced to take a break, you know?
I was on vacation for 3 weeks in the mountains and had almost no internet it was still there but I almost didn't make use of it. I have to say that it was one of the best vacations ever. I felt so great and had a lot of contact with other people that I've never spoken to. I really miss it now
luuoma Get a friend or two and take a hike in a nearby state park. Take pictures, notice the shapes and colors. Go home, buy some watercolors (just a few) and paper and start experimenting. You are probably better than you think.
Too much of anything in life is usually bad. It can potentially apply to anything some people tend to indulge in, eg overgaming, overeating, too much TV, overworking, and the list goes on and on. Addictions to social media is merely one of the many common bad habits.
okwow this vid just made me a whole lot more self-aware of my actions and I think I'm gonna go ahead and switch of my computer now, cause I actually gotta be productive right now
It is very crazy had social media has such a huge impact on peoples's lives. I will confess that I spend a large amount of time browsing through my social media accounts throughout the day. I experience phantom vibration syndrome quite often which is scary because it shows a sign of addiction. I use it to keep up with whats going on in the world because now its such a huge outlet for news that you can view at your fingertips in secs from anywhere.
Fascinating video! One thing I would love to understand and see a video on is how ADHD works in the brain. I understand it has something to do with dopamine deficiency, but beyond that, I'm really unclear, and I'd love to get a better basic understanding of how it works. Thanks for the great videos!
AsapScience CAN YOU DO A VIDEO on the effects of BROKEN FAMILIES/DIVORCED parents to children. How does divorce AFFECT CHILDREN IN THEIR ADULlTHOOD or when children decide to marry, work, have kids etc? What is the likelihood of them ending up divorcing as well? How are the success and health affected? Thanks! Coz my parents are separated (not divorced) for 30 years, my mom left us and my brother's life seems to be taking the same turn.. My other brother also went through the same. Im married too and this bothers me like crazy. So im like.. shit! I need to double up my effort in my own marriage so I dont end up like my parents or my brothers. Im thinking we may have some subconscious sabotaging going on. Hope u do this one, will help people like me. Will wait for ur response. Thanks!
The social media is my biggest issue and addiction in the same time it broke my self-confidence,my learning skills,my ability to focus and even more the capacity of being sociable in the real world . Even its good things that it provides us but it still a damaging way of ours live like mine. I lost my ability to express myself and making decisions it touched my self-respect and esteem.💔
I'm really curious about that, too. Though I find I'm not really good at concentrating on something when the music has lyrics in them as opposed to just instrumental music. Could be just me, though.
Well my mental health is doomed but at least my long distance relationship will most likely work out. Edit: It did not work out, but I'm in a happier relationship with someone local.
When I was younger, my phone broke. And, I know it sounds stupid, but for the first few days I was constantly anxious. But after a week... I was fine! It sort of sucked not being able to call other people in certain situations, but I was so broke. So I bought a $10 flip-phone instead that literally only let me text and call people. After six months, I realised I was spending more time doing things I loved. I didn't feel left out or felt like I was missing out . Since then I have gotten another iPhone, but I still barely use it and its great! I love just being able to appreciate life.
nearly all online relationships I've seen has ended badly. I always advise people to not do it. So I'm not to sure about the whole they love each other more deal. Also I see more negativity online than anyplace else, mostly due to the fact people loose their filter when they communicate indirectly.
borzavrl is right. Personal experience is not factual information. Personal experience is always limited, since people can't experience absolutely everything in the world. Go to any Facebook page/blog website/whatever else that is dedicated to sharing stories about online relationships, and you'll read about *many* successful relationship that started online. My own personal experience is that I've only known one person to have had an online relationship end badly... does that make it more successful than in-person relationships simply because that's what I've experienced? No.
TheXextreem You and your wife must've been rich as fuck. As far as I remember internet 18 years ago was close to non-existent because of dial-up connections
Intro : Social media users : 1/3 of world population Body : 5 ways soc med changing your brain : 1. Decrease grey matter that affects memory, attention, decision making ability. Similar to Drug. 2. Decrease mutitasking ability / task switching performance. 3. Rewire Nervous system : PVS - Phantom Vibration System. 4. Triggers Dopamine release : Dopamine released are bigger when talking about ourselves. Real conversation (40% self centered) vs Online (80% self centered). 5. Effect in relationship - Partner like each other more when meeting online the first time.
Moon Orchid If your really serious about quitting Social Media then you may have to find another offline activity to boost your dopamine fix because this is what Social Media is used for, ive personally experienced the psychological aspect of this. Good luck in your endeavors.👍👍
I am going to x-post this Quote from my own recent English Essay about the Internet, both on pessimistic and optimistic videos about social media. "The Internet and social media amplify all qualities, negative or positive. The Internet is widely an example of how “good becomes great, bad becomes worse.”" "All social media platforms are double-edged swords. All double-edged swords have a dark side, but they also have a bright side."
i was addicted to fb, insta, whatsapp 5 years, i was in depression , i saw all the time what everyone or Celebrity doing, not enjoyed my real life but now delete everything , i use normal msg now and i am so happy now.
So while most of this sounded self centered and negative, I was wondering about the increase in dopamine part. Could this possibly have anything to do with Parkinson's disease? Could the generation that is so obsessed with social media actually be preventing Parkinson's later in life?
Since no one replied, Erbin, and I just happen to stumble upon your comment, I answer right away and hope that it is not too late for you after 6 months: There is much more to life than our physical appearance - let's call it our soul - which is not bound to your body. Now imagine narrow minded people squashing this invisible part of your body - then your soul is in agony, but since we are not educated about such things in school where we only are taught how to be productive members for the gross national product, we don't know how to defend our "etheric body", "aura", "dignity" or "poise", howver you want to call it. Hence some people resort to drink the external pressure away with alcohol, which relaxes, others use cigarettes to "push back" emotional violations of squares, and others cut themselves as an act of autoagression because they don't want to inflict harm on the perpetrators whom they know to be ignorant and therefore not evil as such. In a way it is a dilemma. And the solution in my experience is to relax into the terrible situation and expand your mind so that it can _rise above_ the constricting life. A Yogi once said: "If you feel de_pressed_ - _push_ back!" You can do this with many methods like meditation, contemplation, some kinds of yoga, etc. Not all will work for you, but if you search you will find your path or people who guide you to it.
Reese Pastmore Not really. Only the fact that people can discuss with each other doesn't make it social media. As for my definition, social media requires a profile system, where you can post lots of unnecessary information about yourself, plus a private chat system of some sort. Both are not really given at YT.
+Levo GAMES Ever heard of sending messages? You can on the about section of any channel, and they're PRIVATE. Also, you CAN post lots of unnecessary information about yourself, but it can be flagged. Any comment section or share it in a video.
Hey guys, really love the show. You're doing a fantastic job by keeping science easily explained and fun. I've got a question that I'd like to ask you: "Why do we get blue balls when we don't get satisfied, and a way to "cure" it "? Thanks for keeping it smart :)
I left my phone untouched for a whole month . Life and mental health is so much better , now i see myself spending more quality time with my friends and family and smiling 1900 time for a month . I have got 9 hours of sleep everyday . Now when i picked up my phone , its so weird to me but my life was so much better and for that whole month i went for vacation in London and LEFT MY PHONE but life is starting with more smiles instead of crying and i took 7800 steps for a whole month I LOVE MY LIFE WITHPUT MY PHONE
Probably something like this: Fire is a combustion reaction, which is hydrocarbons reacting with oxygen to release energy, carbon dioxide, and water vapor. Add in a lot more water, and the reaction tries to balance the increased amount of water (a product) by reducing how much of the reactants are turned into products, thereby just about stopping the reaction, which quickly peters out on its own. Of course, that's just how some reversible reactions work, and combustion might not (probably isn't) one of those, so instead the water might just interfere with the reacting of the hydrocarbons and oxygen or something. I felt smarter before I started writing that answer.
Fire requires three things: heat, fuel and oxygen. Water is very good at absorbing heat, and also bad as allowing oxygen to pass through to the other side. So it starves the fire of oxygen, and drains it of its heat.
Shattered Anvil Maybe an even better explanation; Fire requires three things: heat, fuel and oxygen. Water puts out fire because 1. it either cools the source of heat to a point where the heat isn't sufficient to ignite the fuel. 2. it mixes with the fuel to a point where it dilutes the fuel so much that the heat no longer can ignite the fuel 3. it acts as a blanket and blocks the direct contact of the fuel and the oxygen
The drawings in the background of the commentary helped to visualize the information being communicated. I definitely relate to the phone vibration syndrome. If I ever hear a noise similar to vibration I always check to see if I got a notification on my phone. I was surprised to hear that drug addiction and social media addiction can be seen in the same light. "Who doesn't like talking about themselves," is not always true and could have offended those who do not like talking about themselves. To become a more effective and engaging video it could have shown real life situations that related to the five topics given. For example, a successful partnership that happened over the internet and how it evolved over the internet to lead to in person. I think it could have added The video did a great job grabbing your interest and helped to understand how social media effects your brain.
The internet is destroying and improving my life at the same time.
How?
productivity clashing with procrastination.
Yeah the same thing happens with me too. I'm supposed to use it productively, and often do, but more often I don't.
so true
Internet is basically a gold mine but don't expect to find gold if you just played with the mine cart

I wish science in my school was taught like this. A fun way of learning. Better than the boring way in school.
True!! School is boring :D
Take psychology class!
Andrew Placencia my psychology class is pretty boring. all we do is take notes, take a quiz, take notes, take a quiz, take notes...you get the idea.
school is like, totally for dweebs. if i catch you geeks anywhere near a school, im giving you all a knuckle sandwich!
ilovesparky13 But what do you guys learn about?
My memory is a lot worse these days, I don't remember things that I've just done. I can't even remember things that happened last week.
Because you live the same thing over and over again
That is why I am changing careers.
LemonZeppelin You don't really need that, I mean sitting on your chair everyday can make your memory bad, you need to see friends, go to cinema or in restaurants with your family, living the same thing everyday will make you think your memory is bad
Point taken.
+LemonZeppelin I dont need any social media for that. Im just absent minded.
I'm happy I had childhood filled with playing outside and always running around in the yard instead of just looking a tiny screen all day and night
Actually I have a big screen it's called a computer monitor its pretty great
Well it's still the same thing technolgy is ruining the world it courrupts children and everyone seems to have some device of technolgy
Donte West ruining? no the way its being used maybe but technology is a good thing verall
+Donte West same i got my first phone with 15 an i am turning 17, but now all 9 years old kids have phones
Donte West got my first phone at 14. Got an iPad when I was 12. I'd like to believe I function normally. Can't really live without tech though as most of my school work and notes is done in Microsoft word and handed in online and even the lessons are online.

I use youtube and telegram

are you being sarcastic?
It is also an addiction
If the internet shuts down for about 1 month. I would be in my room in the corner in a ball crying.
If that happened, I don't know what I would do tbh. I mean I would start freaking out that we are getting nuked or something, because I would be totally disconnected from information. And Destiny requires internet, so can't play my favorite game! >_
But....but.... You're a POTATO......
It take much less time than a month for that to happen. MUCH LESS! :/
Vaguely reminds me of the time there was no internet in South Park.
You know Nathan, if you were nuked you would probably have a bit more to worry about than being disconnected (you know, because you would be dead and all)

most successful relationships were developed online. this is because most people nowadays are more judgmental on how a person looks rather than how they act. if you meet the person online, you have a 50% higher chance of the relationship being successful, as you can judge the person on how they act and not how they look.
1:26..... 'Once every 2 weeks.' I thought I was the only one, for me it happens pretty much once every two-three days
Yeah that's what happens to me. Once about every 2-3 days
i can never understand people that use their phone all the time, can someone tell whats so great about receiving a text, i get annoyed when people text me
ImBoundChaos I don't like receiving texts, I just get them a lot. If I do get a text I feel like I need to reply. I always take my phone just in case I need to call the emergency services
Kadu Penuela LOL! I sometimes power off my cell phone and put it down on the desk, then out of the corner of my eye think I see the screen turn on. So I look over and it's still off. Phantom screen.
hawaiidispenser ME TOO
It is true that internet users, including me, are unable to control how much time they spend online.
I could stay off the internet for a week I won't unless I have to but I could and have due to being grounded
Lol since I went on a vacation Iasted 2 months without Internet. And then the company got bankrupt and I had to wait 7 months without Internet because we didn't move houses like we were supposed to. I got my internet 5 days ago.
+Patel Vidhu ....oops?
Spend around 4-8 hours online everyday. Last week I got off 2 weeks off no electronics at all, even offline. Was fine.
@Random Things *"pasted"* 😂😂😂
I remember watching this video 6 years ago, and I'm barely able to handle my social media addiction to this date. 🥺
i'm my opinion, technology can definietly be productive or regressive depending on our ability to separate it from the reality we truly exist in and how we can move past vicariously living through our social media identities.

wellp, my lifes screwed.
I HATE ONLINE DATING CASUE
1.you can't see them face to face
2.they might be cheating on you
3.They might have lied about there age
4. in real life they might be bad and really different
5.online dating rushes into the relationship without knowing each other or seeing each other
6.You won't feel love when you do online dating
7.They probably ask to much about u that they come to your state one day and find you and stalk u. 0_0
8. ITS IN EVERY KID GAME!? AND KIDS ARE GETTING INFLUENCED BY THIS BEHAVIOUR
Thats the reason online dating is stupid :3 don't judge me
Not to mention it should be 'Their age'
Just hop on Wizard101 with text chat and you'll understand what this guy means.
Amen couldn't be betterly said! 👏
Well, I am 10% of those who has trouble getting off internet addiction--the reason I can't stop is because of fear from losing the stimulating ambiance that keeps me creative and productive.
Mainly because everything else is boring.
Lexyvil I can't get off bc I have no friends
Good thing I don't use social media.
youtube is a social media...
Sandra Masson Religiously.
Articuno Forever wtf???
Articuno Forever You're using social media right now. UA-cam is social media.
lori lisa I don't DEDICATE myself to it.
The Pre-ACT I got 23, but I'm scared it will be harder than the Pre one. ;(
And they should start teaching only USEFUL stuff and leave out things that you won't need for the rest of my life.

yeah i feel you, my spelling is deplorable
i have a big exam comming up in 6 months that determine whether i get to do what i want to do in university or if i even make it into university,

Although I am very attracted to my husband. ;)
Met my husband online as well with a baby on the way!
Chantel Pulsipher Congrats!
Thank you!
Chantel Pulsipher This 2 peoplez turned out so wellz.
1:01 that's a sneaky way to get a Nike ad
It's true, you do become more self-involved.
right now i'm on social media, watching a video on how social media may change my brain
That's not even funny. It's affecting your productivity and decision making. You're literally laughing at it.

The irony of this video directing viewers to IG & other social media platforms for more content after they’ve laid out the platforms’ detrimental effects.
I've got a burning question! How many languages can we learn?
What is the science of languages and learning languages?
essennagerry This gotta happen
Hey! You're so close the 3 million. So I'm just gonna say congrats now.
I love the channel and all the interesting and cool videos you come up with. I know that each and everyone takes a very long time to make, and I appreciate all the effort.
Thank you for being awesome!
Social media makes me happier, I feel more confident behind a screen
Like how for people like me where in public im shy and introverted sometimes but with social media you feel more comfortable talking with people
@@TommyReckx yeah, i find it a lot easier to talk to strangers because I’m anonymous

Very interesting that people who meet online first tend to have a stronger relationship, definitely something thought provoking! Great video!
Explains why I've watch like 15 of your videos in a row lol. I'm addicted. Also I seriously have that phantom vibration syndrome stuff happen to me at least once a day. Awesome vid guys!!!
I have zero friends and nobody comments or likes any of my shit.

I know how you feel :\
I was on vacation for 3 weeks in the mountains and had almost no internet it was still there but I almost didn't make use of it. I have to say that it was one of the best vacations ever. I felt so great and had a lot of contact with other people that I've never spoken to. I really miss it now
Just don't pay your internet bills.
luuoma Get a friend or two and take a hike in a nearby state park. Take pictures, notice the shapes and colors. Go home, buy some watercolors (just a few) and paper and start experimenting. You are probably better than you think.
I had to delete my social media accounts. I kept redownloading them to my phone.
Too much of anything in life is usually bad. It can potentially apply to anything some people tend to indulge in, eg overgaming, overeating, too much TV, overworking, and the list goes on and on.
Addictions to social media is merely one of the many common bad habits.
I have a question does video games slow or increase your reflexes (reactions)
It depends on the game, when I play Sonic or racing games, I feel it stimulates my reflexes
what about fighting games you need those sick street fighter reactions though :p
kolorwit erick Actually, a study says that playing video games burns loads of calories.
well if your standing the whole time i guess
If you do like less than 2 hours a day then it can be beneficial with reaction times and hand-eye-coordination.
okwow this vid just made me a whole lot more self-aware of my actions and I think I'm gonna go ahead and switch of my computer now, cause I actually gotta be productive right now
It is very crazy had social media has such a huge impact on peoples's lives.
When I used to play TF2 for 5 hours a day, I began hearing noises from the game in real life. And they felt super real.
Wow that's crazy
You heard the crit sound when you stepped on lego
Dose music help people concentrate?
I'm really curious about that, too. Though I find I'm not really good at concentrating on something when the music has lyrics in them as opposed to just instrumental music. Could be just me, though.

Personal experience is not fact.
borzavrl is right. No.
I met a Guy online 3 years later he became my husband.
My aunt married someone she met online, and as it turns their happy together.

The Internet is widely an example of how “good becomes great, bad becomes worse.”"
"All social media platforms are double-edged swords. All double-edged swords have a dark side, but they also have a bright side."
I wanna stop using my phone but I can't why?😑 am I upsets?
go outside and play soccer or something k?
Lovely Lina it isnt your fault ...they made the internet and Social Apps highly addictive. Everyone is being manipulated in a psychological way.
That phantom vibration syndrome happens to me too, I thought my phone was ringing, I checked it and nothing :/
i was addicted to fb, insta, whatsapp 5 years, i was in depression , i saw all the time what everyone or Celebrity doing, not enjoyed my real life but now delete everything , i use normal msg now and i am so happy now.
So while most of this sounded self centered and negative, I was wondering about the increase in dopamine part. Could this possibly have anything to do with Parkinson's disease? Could the generation that is so obsessed with social media actually be preventing Parkinson's later in life?
I am turning off my pc now......(i watched a lot of asapscience videos may be for 1 hour without even knowing!)
You rock! I made my whole class watch this three times! Thanks a lot !
making everything online isn't really helping that much either.
I have a question:
Why do people cut themselves?
Please reply asapScience
Since no one replied, Erbin, and I just happen to stumble upon your comment, I answer right away and hope that it is not too late for you after 6 months:
There is much more to life than our physical appearance - let's call it our soul - which is not bound to your body.
Hence some people resort to drink the external pressure away with alcohol, which relaxes,
others use cigarettes to "push back" emotional violations of squares,
and others cut themselves as an act of autoagression because they don't want to inflict harm on the perpetrators whom they know to be ignorant and therefore not evil as such.
In a way it is a dilemma.
And the solution in my experience is to relax into the terrible situation and expand your mind so that it can _rise above_ the constricting life.
A Yogi once said: "If you feel de_pressed_ - _push_ back!"
You can do this with many methods like meditation, contemplation, some kinds of yoga, etc. Not all will work for you, but if you search you will find your path or people who guide you to it.

I've never really gotten into "social media".
It's nothing but a waste of time.
Reese Pastmore
Not really.
Only the fact that people can discuss with each other doesn't make it social media.
As for my definition, social media requires a profile system, where you can post lots of unnecessary information about yourself, plus a private chat system of some sort.
Both are not really given at YT.
+Levo GAMES I agree. All social media is a waste of time... EXCEPT UA-cam. :^)
Reese Pastmore lmao I've gone months without it.
+Levo GAMES I agree with you social media sucks. There is only girls putting selfies and guys chating BORING
+Levo GAMES Ever heard of sending messages? You can on the about section of any channel, and they're PRIVATE. Also, you CAN post lots of unnecessary information about yourself, but it can be flagged. Any comment section or share it in a video.

I got a burn question why does water put out fire
Why? 😏
Fire requires three things: heat, fuel and oxygen.
Water is very good at absorbing heat, and also bad as allowing oxygen to pass through to the other side. So it starves the fire of oxygen, and drains it of its heat.
Shattered Anvil Maybe an even better explanation;
Fire requires three things: heat, fuel and oxygen.
Water puts out fire because
1. it either cools the source of heat to a point where the heat isn't sufficient to ignite the fuel.
2. it mixes with the fuel to a point where it dilutes the fuel so much that
the heat no longer can ignite the fuel
3. it acts as a blanket and blocks the direct contact of the fuel and the oxygen
