madonnas actual style became what was known as "the 80s style". She didn't look the 80s style, she was literally creating it. This video is in real-time creating what is known as the 80s stle.
I am sure she's thrilled to hear that. She needs to know she is the greatest thing in our life times and we love her. Her latest pics on Instagram are looking like shes prepubescent.
This was her very first tour, known as The Virgin Tour. If you notice the girls in the audience, and as you noted they all look "very 80s". Specifically they are dressed just like Madonna, who, in all her videos, single handedly created "the 80s look" for teenage girls and young women. Fashion-wise, it was revolutionary. People who dressed like her were called "wanna-bees"....the original coining of that term was directly related to her cultural impact. In 1986, with the Live to Tell video, she would dramatically alter her image for the first time. And would continue to do so throughout her career.
Very true...the jelly bracelets, the hair, the lace, all of it...Madonna brought that to the forefront and all the girls (and boys) wanted to look like her....creating that' "80's look."
And Dress You Up was the last video before that transition happened. At the end of the Virgin Tour, she married Sean, and vanished for a bit... came back "shiny and new'.
Everybody, Borderline, Lucky Star, Holiday, Burning Up, Like a Virgin, Material Girl, Crazy for You, Angel and Into the Groove were all 80’s singles well known by Madonna before Dress You Up.
Madonna is the perfect example of an artist who has improved her dancing and singing as her career progressed. Don’t get me wrong, this is still good but her tours got way more complex and her vocal range got larger as the years went on.
Omg you guys need to react to Madonna’s early stuff from 1983-1985. Very 80s! New wave, Disco, Dance! This was the era that made Madonna the Icon she is today!
Madonna rocked the world when she did the virgin tour it was like the invasion of the Beatles and the vision of Elvis it was larger than life. What a great time to be young and I’ll always remember those good times and that concert life at the New Haven Coliseum in Connecticut!
That was her first tour, which happened after her second album, but that's how quick her rise to fame was. She was filling arenas on the first tour and stadiums on the second.
“Dress You Up” came off Madonna’s second album titled “Like A Virgin” and the video was filmed at her first stadium tour. Her first 2 albums were mainly focused on dance/pop tracks and it wasn’t until her third album that started to find her real voice, adding songs with moral messages and so on.
They used a clip from her first concert tour as the video for this song. One of her best songs in my opinion. She did this tour after her second album, "Like A Virgin".
People slag her singing ability but if you’ve ever heard anyone try to sing a song of hers in karaoke, or tried it yourself, you’ll know it’s not as easy as people think. She actually does have a pretty voice that may not have the largest range, but she emotes well and varies her technique a lot. I don’t know any artist that does that sexy, breathy, sing/speak whisper better than her, for example.
This song and music video were released in late 85. The song was originally released on the Like a Virgin album in late 84. And speaking of MJ she was shrewd enough to audition and get MJ's former manager Freddy DeMann after she recorded her first album in 83 when she needed a manager. She didn't have an appointment I believe and she just busted through his office door and started performing for him. And Madonna was smart enough to get MJ's musical director Patrick Leonard and his drummer Jonathan Moffett and maybe a few more musicians that toured with MJ and his brothers as Jackson 5's final tour called the Victory Tour in 84 when Madonna and her then boyfriend Jellybean went to see their concert in NYC at the Madison Square Garden. And she got the idea to use the stairs from watching Prince perform in concert.
Love it you're going for some old-school Madonna here, this is when I first started being a fan. Specifically the lucky star video was the first time I saw her when I was like 11 years old. That video made me a fan forever and this high-energy style of music was the Madonna sound back then, so once you check out some of the other song she'll see that it was very much how she was but you are feeling a bit of whiplash cuz we haven't gone that far back yet :-) this was her very first tour in the summer of 1985, touring the United States and Canada and I so wish I would have been able to go to that one. I caught the next tour in 1987 but she looked absolutely beautiful hair and every girl wanted to dress just like her, the phrase Madonna want to be his came from the store and that look! Looking forward to more of your old school Madonna reactions! Big hugs!
In her early years the critics called her "Minnie mouse on helium" because her voice was so high pitch. After that, she got singing lessons and started to use her middle range as a mezzo soprano in her 3rd album, True blue. React to "Live to tell" to see that change.
@IThinkTheFuckNot YouTrickAssBitch agreed. basically after she successfully knocked Cyndi's popularity down a peg or two she didn't feel the need to copy her high pitched vocals any longer. also notice that signature pose was copied from Cyndi.
The great thing about Madonna is that her musical style is very varied and progressive. Where as most artists have one style and stick to it. In this respect she's similar to her hero David Bowie
You 10000% need to react to more of her early work from her first 2 albums. Madonna in 1983-1985 specifically ruled the world with her fashion and music. Lucky Star, Into the Groove, Borderline, Like a Virgin 1984 MTV Awards, and her very first single Everybody. They’ll give you more of an insight on her original sound, classic Madonna if you will.
This was from her first tour -"the virgin tour" in 1985. Since then she has obviously evolved and grown and gone through sooo many Iconic image changes. And managed to have a looong career. 😍😍😍👩🎤👸
About the Michael Jackson situation. Madonna HERSELF wanted to be the Female Michael Jackson & patterned her career after his. He was the biggest star in the world & she wanted to be the biggest star in the world too. So it's no accident that while Michael is The King of Pop, Madonna is The Queen of Pop. Sales & Global Cultural Impact makes that King & Queen title stick. She's different than he is but the two have more similarities than you think. That's why she always reminisces fondly on Mike in her Instagram. He was her biggest inspiration to reach the top of the business.
Back then, record companies would release live performances as music videos. Also, I believe you haven’t “heard” this Madonna is because you guys haven’t really touched on early Madonna days. Check out “Borderline” My personal favorite hers from the 80s era.
Love her or hate her. She is the most diversed popstar of all times. And all my love and respect to her for surviving in the music industry for 40 years. Incredible! And offcourse u are too❤️👍🤩
This was her lucky star era from her first album, I had a guy in my 8th grade home room who was obsessed with her to the point he would dress like her with the mesh shirts and gloves, I was in the seventh grade when her first record came out and her first hit song was lucky star.
Most women's voices do deepen as they age, but there's also another reason for why Madonna had a Minnie Mouse quality to her songs early on. Her vocals were not strong (She was a dancer and a drummer prior to singing, and she never trained her voice.), and her first producer had her sing carefully to stay on pitch and then he sped up her recorded tracks slightly to compensate. That made her voice sound more highly pitched than it ever really was. Her third album, True Blue, features a less modified voice.
This song was released on her 1984 album but the single and performance were from 1985. You need to react to "Everybody" and "Burning Up" (her first 2 singles ever). Other singles you will certainly love and need to react from 1985 are "Into To Groove" and "Gambler". Her voice is higher in 1996/1998 after she done the movie based on the "Evita" opera-rock and had opera singing lessons. If you react to her songs "You Must Love Me", "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" or "Ray of Light" you see that.
You two are too young to realise the impact she had on people back 8n the eighties!! This song is a classica and you had to be around at the time to really appreciate her .Even though she is a total legend as an eighties madonna fan this song and this concert The Virgin tour was amazing !!
There is no official music video for Dress You Up. (I guess you figured that out) She never made one. This is from her first tour “The Virgin Tour” 1985
It's not a Madonna sounding song because it was written by Andrea LaRusso and Peggy Stanziale and produced by Nile Rodgers who wanted songs like those by the disco/funk band Chic. Madonna agreed to sing/dance to it but that's about it.
There is something called the occums razor. If you are blocked and others are not is that they are commissioned. Those YT'ers who are allowed share the profits with or 90/10 profits the artist or co. gets the $$$ and the YT'ers get the clout
The one the nike is my guilty pleasure . Not goni lie. Dress you up is from Like A Virgin Album . She was doing the Virgim Tour when the single.came out so this is the video used . Angel is awsome from that album too and again no video not even a.live video
How funny 3 complete different answers. I'm guessing boyfriends they just have the same stylist for their hair and eyebrows. Brothers don't like each other that much and I know I have 4.I can't even listen to any of them with out wanting to barf.
You absolutely must react to her speech on billboard winning the woman of the year award. You get to understand deeper the whole thing about her. It's incredible. ua-cam.com/video/c6Xgbh2E0NM/v-deo.html

Madonna will celebrate her 40th anniversary of her first release "Everybody" in 2022 - and she is still killing it! The Queen for a reason
I am sure she's thrilled to hear that. She needs to know she is the greatest thing in our life times and we love her. Her latest pics on Instagram are looking like shes prepubescent.

"A Virgin Tour" was not a stadium tour.
No stadium it was her very first American tour
@@zaasfromparis I know that.
Like A Virgin had ballads... a great one actually. they just did not get released, and lets not forget about the soundtrack smash, Crazy for You.
