This is where the line is drawn between good content (which yours is) and a good solution. Those linear bearings and rails sure costed more (or as much) than a decent circular saw with a guiding track.
This. Also, the problem he had with the saw in the beginning can be solved by buying a quality sturdy blade. Otherwise there are way better tools in the shop to do these cuts (mitter saw, table saw, band saw, track saw, skill saw, etc). I'm all for inventing new solutions, but it's kind of an XY-problem.
@@user-sk4nt5bm5r In my experience a thicker blade doesn't fix the blade creep problem unless you are using a very soft wood. The only way as far as I have tested is to have the jigsaw upside down on a board and have a lateral limit (sometimes made with bearings) to stop the blade from wondering to the sides.
Anyway my point was that this is a solution to a non-problem but I understand that UA-cam is not a source on how to do things the right way, but a source of entertainment, which this video certainly is.
@@user-sk4nt5bm5r But if you have limited space in the workshop (or budget) some similar device will enable the money poor/time rich woodworker to get quality cuts. Or there is a handsaw and patience!

The moment he tightened those clamps before cutting I thought: "that can't be good" once the metal rails start flexing the cut up angles are compromised. Eventually, the guiding rails will become warped and uneven from one another of so much use. Better to clamp the pieces on the base board.

Daniele, come al solito gran bella realizzazione. L’unica cosa che non mi convince al 100% sono i fermi a vite. Non i fermi stessi che sono fantastici, ma si nota una certa torsione del binario quando serri il pezzo da tagliare. Non vorrei che un serraglio troppo forte, specie se fatto da un solo lato, possa portare una leggera incrinatura della lama. Comunque, progetto da ripetere quando potrò. Complimenti!
Ciao, la piegatura avviene abbassando il legno in modo longitudinale e non compromette deformazioni o inclinazioni da compromettere l' angolo del taglio. I tagli che ho fatto sono tutti perfetti, ma sarebbe meglio irrigidire il tutto. Grazie comunque

On the one hand, I like it. On the other hand, if I wanted a straight line, I'd use a circular saw (or table saw).
My sliding miter also allmmoossttt has that much range.
And cheap saw will cost about same as 2 linear shafts with 4 carriages

Love the idea. How bout a new modification. Get some extruded aluminum to go along the sides of the rail and use T-nuts so you can slide the hold downs around. You will need to have a set handle on a screw to lock it into place. Also the extruded aluminum will help keep the rail strait when force is applied during clamping. I noticed the rail bending when you were using the clamps.
Clamps on rails of such length isn't a good idea, so yep, separate frame for clamps is a must.

Great idea, excellent realisation, but... one major feature of a jigsaw is to cut at angles up to 45º on 2 dimensions, and non linearly. I recently had to cut such angles on my "cat kennel" where I had one angle at 80º and the other at 82º (it was wood, so didn't care too much about decimals), only a jigsaw could do that, and the jig was... "funny".
Rather than such an expensive rail for a jigsaw that removes one of the main features, maybe it would be better to make a jig to install my circular saw as a track saw?

Ottimo progetto, valuterei l'aggiunta di un appoggio anche nella parte centrale del piano, per dare una maggiore rigidità. Ogni volta che stringevi un fermo la si vedeva flettere.
Esatto, ma sto facendo una linea di oggetti che richiedono una revisione per un futuro video upgrade. Infatti oltre a eliminare quel problema, volevo aggiungere una base chiusa per l' aspirazione della segatura, dei cassetti porta lame e porta morsetti, una squadra battente metrica ecc. Vedremo ;-)
@@DanieleTartaglia E se mettessi del silicone sotto i fermi (tipo i piedini di gomma che hai pubblicato eoni fa)?
Probabilmente dovresti stringere di meno le viti dei fermi, ed evitare torsioni.

Great stuff. Think the frame alone was enough to be very useful (using clamps) especially on large areas you need to cut. Version 3, make the frame easy removable.

Well done .... but when the pieces you cut are tightened, the whole construction of the sliders is raised ... 13:13 ...can that make a problem , and change the cutting angle ?....or that over time the sliders become distorted...especially in the middle
