The helical gears will give you more contact patch between the gears than a straight cut gear. It’s not a lot but it does make a difference. And the chrome/moly is quite a bit better metal.
If you run big power (like aftermarket motor and esc) a metal diff cover for the front and rear will really save your diffs!! Wouldn’t hurt to do it for stock motor too it’s good protection.
I do have the alloy diff covers on one of my Xmaxxs….have you had any issues? I’ve always been kinda worried that the metal cover will make the bulkheads more prone to breaking
@RC Knockout no. I am running mod 1.5 gears so the metal cover is really necessary! It’s only been a few weeks so I can’t really say for sure how it strains the bulkhead or not.
Spiral cut gears aren’t necessarily stronger, spiral gears are little quieter when they mesh.. great for road cars, that’s why race transmissions sound so much louder and whine as they’re straight cut, I think the hardened steel will help a lot too.. 10:46 is probably the main cause of the pinion/crown failure.. it’ll flex the plastic under load, Great vid btw the xmaxx looks awesome for tearing up 👌
What gears do you run? I’m going to probably buy vitavon… but I’m not sure if they are worth it. I noticed you said these already broke? Any good recommendations?
Nice nolan, input 1M with a mix of 50k diff fluid on front and rear diff and on my center diff i put 20M diff fluid on my xmaxx
Thanks man! How’s that work for you?
@@RCKnockout its good feel a lot smoother granting im running 1100kv motor and the xlx2. It hold the the drivetrain with that much power
@@oscarmike131 good to know thanks!

Yep…..these unfortunately stripped on me though lol
Ya, saw that, didn’t take very long either. Guess you’ll have to switch up to the 8s gears.
@@scottlesage386 yeah that’s what I run now
@@RCKnockout nice
My xmaxx sounded like that and it was one of the spider gear bars in the center diff that broke
My center diff so far hasn’t had any issues…..it usually seems to be differential gear or spur gear

Thanks for the info. These gears already got chewed up though lol 😂
@@RCKnockout ohh 😮 that 8s power 😂
Which one better spiral cut or straight cut diff and bevel gears?
Usually spiral cut are stronger….but these ones still ended up stripping on me….I’ve gone back to the stock diff gears at this point
@@RCKnockout how if spiral +bevel siff using to MT rc, good torque is it?
@@digeolrc8586 not sure what you mean?

The stock 8s gears is what I’m using now
Did that fix the clicking noise? Mine is having the same sounds.
No….these diffs actually destroyed themselves after one or two bashes…..wouldn’t recommend them
This is traxxas X maxx 6s ?
Yeah
@@RCKnockout the spiral diffs is good for 6s ?
@@salamalwan7578 maybe…..I tore them up on 8s I believe
They sell these for the e Revo 2.0??
Not sure?
Nice 👍
What gears are you running now?
I’ve got the stock 8s hd ones in it now
