- Finally, a book Sean Connery can get behind!
Jake reviews Seahorse in the Sky by Edmund Cooper in his quest to find a hidden science fiction classic from the pulp era. Is this destined for a Museum, Personal Collection, Thrift Shop or Return to Pulp?

Haven't read anything by Edmund Cooper yet, but this sounds like one I need to put on my TBR... enjoyed your review of the novel!
Looks like a winner, I'm on the lookout for this one now. Never read anything from Cooper. Cheers.
Your style is not unlike the Secret Sauce of Storycraft channel. That’s a compliment. Try the channel if you’re not familiar.
I'll definitely check them out!
Thanks for recommending this book. It sucks when good writers pass away without being recognized. Especially when their books go out of print. I'm working on a review of Imaro by Charles Saunders, another great author who was constantly overlooked despite his awesome talent.
It's frustrating to see to be sure. I'll watch out for your review, because I haven't heard of Saunders.
Just went on eBay and bought a copy. Can't wait to read it!
Awesome! Let me know what you think about it!
I guess your wife is one for one. You should find a way for her to randomly pick a book off your TBR. ‘The Cloud Walker’ by Cooper is sitting on my shelf, waiting to be discovered.
@vintagesf LOL that's actually a great idea. Hmm...
It’s kind of a sci-fi thought in itself but it’s fun to think that maybe, in the future, on some media format that hasn’t been invented yet, someone might make a series reviewing old UA-cam shows because they’re as retro as old pulps are to us
I never thought about that. I keep getting recommendations of Gen Zers reacting to "old movies" and I'm just shouting at the screen, "The Matrix isn't old!!!" Then I remember that the Matrix is older than the average UA-camr :|
I'd be willing to bet that you're right and it's just a matter of time.
Hi Jake, nice review - great channel - I read Voices in the Dark [great Digit cover] which is short stories and only a couple are scifi - not that impressed but I'll give the seahorse thing a try - I can recommend Charles Eric Maine - try The Isotope Man [doh!] or Crisis 2000
@markbaker8521 Thanks Mark, I appreciate that. I haven't read any CRM. I do own Survival Margin but the cover kind of sucks. I'll try to track down Isotope Man and Crisis 2000 on your recommendation. Cheers!
First museum book
Makes me wonder if there will be more ranks
LOL probably. Also don't really put this book in a Museum...
I have 3 (all fools is all I remember atm) of his books that I picked up for the Foss covers alone. I was going to get there eventually but i think one of them will "jump the stack" A lot of them get the wrap around art.
Some of his covers are gorgeous, and I love the wrap around. I also have the Overman Culture and The Tenth Planet, which I am excited to read, but the covers aren't anything to write home about.
I picked up Cooper's The Overman Culture on a whim at a Half Price Books last summer while I was on vacation and, based on you sterling recommendation, just picked up Sea-Horse in the Sky from eBay. Very much looking forward to reading both of them very soon. Thanks for the review.
@Jockolantern Oh excellent, I have the Overman Culture as well but haven't read it. Let me know what you think of Seahorse!
@@PulpMortem Will do.
I have several books by Cooper as ebooks. I was attracted to them by the covers. This one makes a speedy jump yo my TBR!
A recommendation for a forgotten author: Subb by C C Macapp. Interesting cover, out of the ordinary story. I know readers have loved and reread this book because my two copies are rather ratty. I know you have another book by this author. Bumsider has a ridiculous title and a wtf cover.
I have a handful of books from Macapp, and actually I think I have two copies of Subb as well LOL. Adding to the TBR stack! It's funny, @TheBookGraveyard purchased Bumsider around the same time that I did; I told him he could review it! As always, thanks @vilstef6988!
