Probably my favourite car , with all its supposed faults and the fact that it is a product of the early eighties , the whole package is still stunning. A modern Ferrari will out class it in almost every way but this car has an aura that is equal if not superior to any car produced since . I am not normally a nostalgist and in principle I would be forced to addmit The superiority of new Ferarris but for me the Boxer is special.
@@SuperCarClassicsTV The 512BB is Ferrari to me, along with the 365 GTB/4 Daytona! The BBi is however unfortunately not a runner - the looks still iconic but the clutch is weak and that engine just doesn't have the grunt of the previous multi carbs 512BB. No book reading - I have driven both - and the 365BB!
Great looking car! Not in a flashy or outrageous way like a Lamborghini, but in a subtle and purist way. The car is fast no doubt, but not explosively fast like the modern Super cars. It still looks cool and hip after more than 30 years. Compare that to a 30 year old Porsche, Jaguar, BMW or Mercedes and they could never uphold those claims.
No meaningless chatter just good filmimg and the noise of a flat 12 BBi Ferrari . . . . A perfect video ! I was at the 1986 Sydney, Australia motor show where a midnight blue BBi was parked next to a White Countach. I was stunned by what the Countach said. I'm selling the Countach. WHY. . . I asked ? Reply - that blue Ferrari Boxer blew me away on the road and easily and . . . repeatedly. I also heard later that many a 512BB owner in Europe discretely "super charged " their BB engines. This meant that whilst not the fastest car around, they usually surprised Porsche 911 turbo, Lamborghini and Testarossa owners.
Edward Yue Hey, so glad you liked my video! Hopefully you'll find some more in all the videos I have made over the last couple of years. Thanks for your support! Regards from the Netherlands, Walter
Was surprised of how opened the cockpit veiw looked, looked like there was barely any driver's blind spots. I'd buy a Ferrari in a heartbeat, the maintenance costs scares me. I could buy the car. but, couldn't afford it's repairs ;)~
It's true. I have been so priviliged to drive more than 500 classic cars and the Ferrari 512BBi is absolutely in the top three of what I have been able to experience as a driver. The cockpit indeed is very open (compare this f.e. to the Countach) but the sound of the Flat-12 engine is just absolutely amazing and chilling. The BBi is not well known for heating problems with the vins, that have to cool the engine from the front. Later on this was modified in the design of the Testarossa. Regards! Walter
Injected is good, but the missing mechanical sounds of the chains, along with the "whoosh" of the now-missing carbs, make for a great but less visceral car than the 365gt4/BB.
+Lee White Thanks Lee, I didn't know that the difference between the engine sounds was thát noticeable. I will certainly give it my attention next time. Regards, Walter
I find it interesting that there is a resurgence of posts on the list car. Let's keep in mind that Enzo Ferrari cared little for his road car business. Racing was his passion and he only made road cars to fund that drive. If any of you out there have ever experienced this car, you might find it embarrassing. It is slow, uncomfortable and has understeer as it handling setting. Try the 488, it's a new generation masterpiece. Just one mans opinion.
I was lucky to have seen a Ferrari Boxer way back in 1979. I was amazed. There was NO car like it. I saw a Testarossa a few years later. The BB512 non-fuel injected cars looked more beautiful and aggressive. The 512TR, the 550LM is where Ferrari ENDED for me. Ferrari 12 cylinder cars stopped being the Ferrari flagships after the year 2000 ! The V12'S . . . once THE traditional Ferrari were overtaken by the mid-engined V8's. The post year-2000 hyper cars, namely the Enzo a n d LaFerrari whilst standouts, are for the seriously wealthy ! I'm sorry but the Berlinetta, the V12 GTB and the feaux GTO, its racing variant GTO FXX, the TDF, the 812 Superfast ALL look like some other brand e.g. the Aston Martin. I'm sorry if offend you but that's me. The ultimate v12 Ferrari. . . the F50.
Thanks for showing this black beauty including its pure sound without any sort of boring commentary
You're welcome, Paolo!
MOST BEAUTIFUL THING EVER CREATED
This and the 512tr are my 2 favourite ferraris, they just look and sound perfect!
Todd L ,
You and me both. Great tsste in Ferrari's.
I saw my first 512BB in 1979 and it stayed etched in my mind . . .
Things went bad with the 512TR design. The cheese grater era at Maranello was not good.
Best review Ive heard in years :-) no words required- sublime!!
Finally somebody who gets it!

Thanks so much! And furthermore I agree that the 512 is the better car over the Countach! Ciao, Walter
if I EVER WIN THE LOTTERY, I'm HAVING ONE.
Súper car! One of the very finest exotics!
BEAUTIFUL
Fabulous burble on the deceleration! Beautiful car all round but the sound is like music for your soul!
Thanks Dwayne, I was also happily surprised when I reviewed the footage, I couldn't hear it while driving...
Awesome vid, deserves more likes!
Thanks Shane!

remember that this car hade make in 1980...how many cars are so beautiful and with many hp in the world?
+luca capozzi Agree Luca, it's a true piece of art!
US never got this car, but Canada did. I used to service them. Very easy car to drive.

First thing I would do is lower it at least 2 inches , is way too high, looks like off-road
Holland is well known for its speed bumps, probably the reason the car is sitting up this high 😉
