This man Joe Ely plays my kind of music and I was the one who followed Thin Lizzy & Rory Gallagher all over the place whenever they played live in my town and up to 2 hundred miles away, I think that you now understand that I only like brilliant hard rocking music played by the best players
RIP Bobby! I bought the VHS at a Joe show in Austin not long after the Gruene Hall show. awesome. Also saw Bobby perform with Joe at Fitzgerald's in Chicago
Saw him on a whim while on the road working for my olle mans store fixture company setting up a discount dept. store. I was just a young buck and can’t recall where I was 🤷🏻♂️ probably somewhere in Pennsylvania or Ohio but I do seem to recall the gig was held in a movie theater that catered to showing Triple XXX smut flicks . Oh well for me @ the time it was all in a days work and a night out on the town… but I mentioned him the other day… so YT thought I ought to see this .
Totally serious question ? Why ? Why ? Why is this man, this band not well known ? I sometimes think I’m fairly smart…. but for all the golf balls in my bag …. I can not understand why more people outside of Lubbock and Austin have NEVER heard of this incredible man , his band and his music . Please help me out here . Just totally can not figure it out DO YOU KNOW ?? If so, please advise. Thank you.
I've never been able to figure that out. When I first heard "Musta Notta Gotta Lotta" in Auburn, Alabama in '81 my wife and I were both hooked. And moved around thru the years from coast to coast and found myself tellin' folks about him. And he just kept gettin' better and better....
Funny you should ask that as I visit this channel at this time. I've just come out of doing an amazingly in-depth amount of research on fame, music and entertainment. I always adored Joe Ely's singing and style and used to ask the same question. As I hit play on this song tonight I believe I may have discovered the answer to that question: he's one of the ones who was NOT willing to sell his soul. I hope I'm right and I think I am.
@@WholeBibleBelieverWoman I believe you are right. Another Texas legend who never sold out was Bugs Henderson. Joe could have been a superstar had he played the game.

The Ramones, especially Joe Strummer loved him..I saw him first in 91. Saw him two years ago. He played solo.
Meant the clash sorry
I seen him in California with Peter Rowan He's awesome
I used to own the VHS, but lent it to someone.
That sax player played for the stones too.
He plays the sax on "Brown Sugar," for one.
Good

There are services that will transfer at a reasonable price.

Sounds great. However, thy have no clue about REAL experience of REAL miners. Which is fine...sort of
So every song a singer sings has to be a real life experience?
