What a lot of people forget when buying or reviewing these figures is that they are $200-$500, of course at that amount of money there is going to be bias to your investment. Now this rerelease was lazy and desperately needed an update. Like I said at $200-$500 when it’s this disappointing it’s super frustrating. Never thought I would take the forever suit over this but the Batman forever figure looked so much better

“Bias” is nonsense when it comes to figure reviews. You can literally argue either way. You spent a lot of money, of course you’re going to love it OR you spent a lot of money of course you’ll trash it, you want perfection.
I pride myself on being professional as a figure critic, I keep as much bias out of everything I do as possible whether folks want to believe it or not
@@JustinsCollection best figure reviewer around man!! This was one of the first time I’ve felt you were disappointed with hot toys. They are great at premium figures but this needs so much extra work out of the box. Loved the inaccuracies section here as well lol. Hope you’re feeling better mate

Batman should be one of the figure characters that Hot Toys have perfected by now. This seems to be rushed into release!

Thanks for the honest review. This could have been a big opportunity for a good 2.0 (3.0?). Really too bad. I'm not very hopeful for the "new" Hathaway Catwoman after seeing this release.
The Two-Face on the other hand was a HUGE improvement over the original, albeit we lost the Harvey Dent display option.

I love the Batman begins suit more then the others but went with DX 19 because of the overwhelming gushing over it. I always wondered if I’d made the right decision but thanks to this video I’m completely confident that I did. Thank you Justin.
The DX19 is the superior choice
I really appreciate the honest review. I was hoping to make this my first Hot Toy buy but now I’m glad I haven’t preordered yet. At least seeing this guy in hand through your eyes gives us a view of the flaws. I really think I would be disappointed if this was my first. I do have the DX19 TDK suit that was gifted to me so the sentimental value outweighs any flaws it may have. My second want for my first buy would be Catwoman, but now I’m worried about the final product too.

Really good review Justin. You covered the (few) pros and (lots of) cons very well. The inaccuracy segment is a fine idea too. It's a great pity that Hot Toys messed this figure up so badly. In comparison to the vast majority of their back catalogue, this is a notable backwards step.

I love this version of Nolan Batman, because of top tier story in Begins. The origin for Nolan's Batman is perfect.

The custom cowl looks a lot better on this body since the head sits lower and the neck is broader and thicker, and like you said the likeness is also better

Merry Christmas Justin. While this isn't a great figure, I was thinking it could work to have in an armory like display. Even though the suit disappeared after the Hong Kong sequence, you can have it displayed empty in the background like some animated series and comics have shown.

As someone who just wants one representation of each live action batman, I'm perfectly happy with my DX19 as I love the look of that armor. Along that line, do you think they'll reissue/remake Ben's batman suit from Justice League - the original one? Or they're done cause the DCEU is done?

Sad to hear that this one is a miss. When I first started collecting Hot Toys a year back I was contemplating on whether I wanted to preorder the Dark Knight suit or the Begins one. I'm SO happy I went with the DX-19 Dark Knight version cuz it was worthwhile. I can't imagine how I would've felt about Hot Toys had I gotten this one instead.

Hi Justin. You can get rid of the gloss by using some sticky tape! Stick it on and peel it off and it removes the shine! It looks like an end finish that was applied to the figure because it can come off relatively easily!

Wow Justin don’t hold back! 😂 Thank you for this honest review. I was waiting for your review to decide if there was enough improvements for me to get this figure. I will stick to the 1.0 version. I like that this new version is taller and ankle articulation but how the f….k wasn’t the grapple gun not included? That weapon was the one of two weapons most used by Batman in the movie. Shame on Hot Toys! Two quick questions Justin if you may be so kind to reply. Can this knew Batman fit and sit in the 1/6 scale Tumbler? And can the custom Cowl fit on version 1.0?
Haha my pleasure. I doubt this would survive sitting in that car, a rubber suit would get damaged very quickly. Yep the cowl works on the 1.0 just fine

I just got my figure in late May from PopCultcha, and the suit is definitely a matte finish. I did order the custom cape from OT Customs, but I’m not spending $250 on a cowl. OT Customs cowl is much better, but $250 is too much. Heck that’s what I spent on entire figure.

@@JustinsCollection yes they definitely fixed the suit, as it is a matte black and much lighter than the stock cape. However the gloved hands are not, which is fine

Happy Holidays! I've been waiting for this review lol. This figure is amazing in the sense that it finally convinced me to go for the 1/4 Begins. I was so torn on using reward points for this that I just went for the 1/4.

I just got mine and I will be getting that head sculpt, the cape is ok but idk why yours was glossy mine is a flat matte black not glossy.

Batman Begins is in my top 5 Batman movies of all time and I bought this specifically for the Bale Head look. The grapple gun really should’ve been included.

Great review Justin 👏. At the price point these figures are getting at its always unfortunate to have to customize them. I agree that they should be great out of the box. I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on this and I'll just spend the money on upgrading my existing batman figure.

This figure should have been perfect off the bat but I still quite like it. The gloss was unexpected but it doesn't annoy me as much. The only other Batman Begins Armor I had was the Mafex and I was too glad to finally have him. The only thing that bothers me really is the length of the cowl. We should have had a screen accurate cowl sculpt right out of the box. I placed an order for the same head sculp from OT Customs but I have a previous order from him that has yet to be fulfilled. I just shouldn't have to go through an unreliable customizer or any customizer at all. We should have had that cowl from the factory. I too love Batman Begins.

I have a hunch the grappling gun was left out because of Warner Bros. Might be a part of that new rule of theirs where they don't want toys with firearms and they asked Hot Toys to exclude it. I know, it's a grappling gun, but perhaps THEY don't see it that way.
That’s not a thing, their Catwoman that was announced after this comes with a hand gun

Great review as always Justin! Such a shame this figure is terrible especially considering this Hot toys has done multiple attempts at this guy. I guess it would be wise to wait for him to go on sale and buy custom parts to make him look good even though Hot toys is more than capable of fixing these issues.

that god i watched this before buying! Nearly just ordered it but not now! £240 plus £250 for a custom sculpt and probably £100 for a cape just to make it look good !!!

Hey Justin are you gonna pick up the OTcustoms 1/4 scale Batman cowl? I purchased it for the upcoming reissue it looks absolutely amazing. All you have to do is swap out the hot toys eyes and mouth plates onto it.
I’m happy with the Hot Toys 1/4, but I adore this 1/6 OT cowl!

Merry Xmas Justin mate. I have this on pre order with the Tumbler as I missed them first time around. I have just received the DX-19 and Batpod and they were great. I have the Catwoman on pre order with the Patterson deluxe with batsignal and bike. This is unacceptable from HT and DK’s review was also spot on.
I have been told I cannot cancel my pre order that has been paid for so I’m stuck with it. I’m gonna have to put this one in the tumbler with the top closed I think. It’s either that or the bin. HT have not commented but still take our money. They should replace the suit and cowl for everyone or refund in my opinion. Cheers for the review.👍🏼

I hope that those people using isopropyl alcohol to matte down the rubber are also warning that it will speed up the deterioration of the rubber material. I also think that Hot Toys has been too complacent, too lazy and it really shows in their choices. Merry Christmas and best wishes on your health and recovery.

Wasn’t his harness version different in the movie? The suit was not painted at all in the movie at the time. Wish there is the original suit.

Just got this figure, and wow, was I disappointed. The suit felt too big for the body they used, and far too rubbery. And by god, that cape is terrible. I've never felt the need to customize a figure with third-party accessories before, but I will be getting a cape from Toys Wonderland to replace the one it came with.

All Hot Toys had to do was downsize the quarter scale headsculpt and reduce the shine of the material and this would’ve been a pretty good release.
Obviously, they would also need to throw in the grapnel gun too. The cape being shit is actually fairly easy to resolve and most people just end up getting custom capes anyway. We shouldn’t have to, but this is Hot Toys after all.
This is why I’m glad Queen Studios (InArt) has come to play. This competition is finally gonna give Hot Toys the push to stop settling for less and start giving the DC fans the same amount of love they give the Spider-Man and Iron Man fans lol

It's a shame that hot toys thought they could just churn this out and we would eat it up. That cowl was sculpted over 10 years ago! Maybe Inart will give us the proper begins suit we deserve

I too love this suit despite popular opinion. it reminds me of a modern/tactical version of Michael Keatons suit from “Batman 1989” it’s a mighty shame hot toys goofed this one up 😂

I've been very critical of Hot Toys for a few years now and this figure represents all of it, I hope INART for someone else makes this guy, I have high expectations with them
Yeah, except Inart are too expensive, I can't believe how much people are willing to pay for some plastic (meaning oil-made) figure like that 😞 Don't get me wrong, I have been collecting Hot Toys (among other brands) for a long time (around 2007), but I can still remember when Hot Toys were sold at around 90-100 $. I know there is inflation, but this doesn't explain everything. Now those figures and statues are getting too pricy, that's insane. People shouldn't agree to pay that much, that's ridiculous. Sorry, I don't mean to be rude or something but that gets me a bit angry lol.
Inart are trying to compete with hot toys, by putting more detail in the sculpts, clothes that fit more natural, rooted hair that looks really good imo, and actual metal accessories.
I can totally see your point, especially with how hot toys cheaps out sometimes, like in this case, but inart, by coming more late into the game, can do some things that hot toys wont, which, at least for some, would justify the price. Sorry for the wall of text btw.

That cowl and cape is not they way to go.. Dont know what they were thinking with that. The figure out the box is not that good by the looks of it.. How ever with some simple and cheap mods. This will be amazing. It aint as bad as most people make it out to be, but at 300USD they should have gotten it right. The Shiny suit could just be a release agent from the molds. it dulls down over time. But i have a feeling the surface is too smooth still, to give it that dark grey look.. Im going to sand blast my begins once it get it for the real finish. Thats the best way to make the suit look right. I knew from the get go that it would need a new cape and headsculpt, so im not that mad about that.. But dont get why HT took the cheap and easy route when they got the experience to make a great figure. Now that i think about it... i might even get two of these figures.. would be cool to remove the emblem on one before doing the finish on the suit for the first night out look
