We turn the wipers off as soon as we are airborne, no way they stay in until cruise level. In fact most wipers have airspeed limitation, somewhere around 230 to 250 knots.
Wiper speed is usually somewhere around 220 knots, so we actually turn them off long before cruise! Typically they come on just a couple miles from the runway on landing, and on takeoff I turn them off almost immediately after we get off the ground. The more you know 💫
7:12 While the explanation was largely correct, planes CAN fly when it's hot -- a lot hotter than 104 degrees as well. Ever heard of Dubai? Phoenix? Hotter than 104 in both those places quite often. The plane's performance is affected, however, and most commercial aircraft are only "certificated" to 120 degrees F. That certification includes performance tables that tell the pilot how long a takeoff roll it will take to get airborne at various temperatures. Most Boeing jets are certificated to 126; Airbus to 127. If the temperature gets above their certifications, the planes might be physically able to fly but, because there is no performance data, it's illegal for the pilot to try, so they wait until it "cools."
DB Cooper had the plane to go to below pressurization altitude, about 10-11,000’. Even 1 psi difference is several thousand pounds pushing on the door. A door has several thousand square inches area.
If your wondering about parachutes on planes The normal altitude/height in air is 40,000 ft in that altitude there is hardly and air in that altitude so your most likely to pass out that's why there is air mask in a plane in case the plane breaks in cruising altitude when that happens the pilots are told to drop to 10,000 ft where it would be easy to breathe. Sky divers jump at 10,000 ft more experience jump at 15,000ft but they where a mask to breath
No, you are simply wrong. There is simply no evidence to suggest that the spirals help prevent bird strikes. And it can actually be very difficult to tell if an engine is running, because busy airports can be loud enough to drown out the sound.
0:25 It’s more because you don’t need to see out the window in flight as transport category aircraft will be flying with reference to the flight instruments. So you really only need to look outside for the last stages of landing, ground ops, and up to rotation on takeoff. Depending on the precipitation intensity and the pilot’s preference the wipers may not be used anyways as the windshield has a special coating to allow water to bead up and flow off like with rainx. Finally, there is a structural limitation for the wipers the prohibits their use above a certain airspeed, typically 250kts, as the aerodynamic forces will exceed the strength of the motors/wiper arm.
Actually with square windows the issue was with metal fatigue at the corners leading to failure of the fuselage rather than failure of the windows. Google the history of the DH.106 Comet, the first jet airliner to enter service.
In Engineering class at college, we learned about stress; square windows were a big no-no. But about a year ago I watched a video about the Comet which claimed it wasn't the windows, it was the fuselage flexing. Need a third video to sort this out!
Literally half the things he mentioned were actually wrong. I'm not a certified pilot but I've been studying this since I was in kindergarten (I'm in high school now) and I can tell you that most of what he said was wrong.
@@chickengaming2149 0:23 it's not when it reaches it's cruising altitude, it's just shortly after departure when they turn the wipers off. 1:36 some commercial jets are actually equipped with a horn-like system which makes a loud noise which is actually intended for scaring away birds. 3:53 what he said here was right, but he was lacking more answers. A big part of having that spiral painted on the middle of the engine is a big benefit to scaring away birds, as birds have a tendency to fly into cave-looking things, and an engine looks just like a cave to a bird when it is spinning, but if they see that white spiral moving, it would more likely prevent a bird from flying towards it. These are just some of the things but really he just didn't provide enough detail to some important things to know so that's what I just showed you was me adding detail to it.

The main way to slow a plane as it’s landing is to deploy deflectors which directs the exhaust from the engines forward.
Oh that’s why
Certified Gold!!!!!
Why’d you have the plane land so hard 😂🤣
2:37 The doors have been modified to prevent opening mid flight. DB Cooper did it in 1971 while midflight on a Boeing 727.
DB Cooper had the plane to go to below pressurization altitude, about 10-11,000’. Even 1 psi difference is several thousand pounds pushing on the door. A door has several thousand square inches area.
