Good vs. Bad Supervisor

- Are you not getting the supervision that you need? How would you know if you never had a "good" supervisor to compare him or her to? Our educational video of a Marriage and Family Therapist trainee exhibits how many trainees and interns may feel in individual supervision with a supervisor who can either be helpful or a hinderance to their professional training and development. Additionally, the trainee's feelings of confusion and gratefulness can only be seen as polar opposites when a video such as this one portrays what a "good" supervisor versus a "bad" supervisor really looks like.
I had a supervisor like that. He was over 40. Among orchestrating an entire workplace bullying mob, the behaviors exhibited in this first half were one of his biggest bad behaviors.
I thought this was very well done on both parts. I have had a supervisor just like the "bad" one....so I can relate. I have also good supervisors too. It makes such a huge difference for the workers when the supervisor COMMUNICATES and LISTENS without judgement. Sometimes it takes more than one try to get things right.
Omg "Just go with your gut, and I think you'll get there. I know it's a hard case, and yeah, just continue to process it with the client." Is all I hear every week in supervision :(
hehe i have to disagree, there are many 40+ supervisors out there doing just that of the first set or even worst! i've witnessed some in my short career as a trainee... great job with the video!
