Peter McKinnon Great film. A very close and thoughtful perspective on the topic. I especially like the sound! Well done. Thanks.
This was an amazing film Pete!
Amazing film! Your work continues to inspire me to improve my own films. Do you decide on how you're going to edit certain clips while your filming or do you make those decisions upon reviewing the raw footage?
Well done my friend...well done...
An amazing film Pete ! Breathtaking landscapes, gorgeous peoples and and a message perfectly sent ! You can be proud of this project ! Amazing shots for an amazing topic and country
My Dad has worked for World Vision for the past 25(ish) years of his life and 8 of those years he was COO of World Vision East Africa. I've lived 16 out of my 23 years in Africa, (8 years in Kenya as well because of my dads job) and it's amazing to see someone who I've been following for a while now create a film on the exact issues that my family has been working on over there. Thanks for making this, it really hits home and I'll share this with my dad - I'm sure he'll say "thanks" as well :)
BluMaan very nice feeling. I just came back from Tanzania. First time in Africa and I fell in love with the land and people.
But what about the new hair video??😂
I couldn't have said it any better as a Kenyan BluMaan. Thankyou Pete!
Is this an ad for blumann
@karl eVlog Next time you come to Tanzania, let me know. That's my motherland.
Peter......dude......wow.......I have a 3 year old and I teared up about the 3 year old boy who couldn't walk because he was malnourished. This touched me man. This film has so much soul in it. Great job! This is why I am a fan of you.
The Adam Rainwater I will pray for your 3 year old. It's my prayer time in about 5min
Me too, the tears were flowing.
The Adam Rainwater : that was stage managed. Bullshit of highest order
Peter I'm from Kenya and this film you took had my eyes watery for a moment
#proudofmykenyanmom cause it wasn't easy
See this is what I love about this platform. Creators emerge out of nowhere, and build themselves up and gather amazing audiences. It becomes a community of amazing people, amazing energy. But.. most once they get to this point, of "fame" go on to continue doing the same thing. Peter when I heard you had a short film coming out, I knew it was going to be good. But what I didn't expect was something that would truly move me, in such a way that I'm now inspired to do something to contribute. Bravo...
Vimeo is a bigger platform for creators
Steven Healy... said no one ever
Techfinity it really is but okay
its definitely not bigger, and it's sort of dying.. but. Anyways very well said Ryan. I admire your guy's work!
Agreed, love you content Ryan
Wow..This isn't a film .This is an eye opener. This is art.
Dodi Sunny you are right, that's fantastic
Didn’t expect such a film by him to be honest but I’m even more impressed with the message he conveys through those stunning images! Keep it up Peter!!!
Dodi Sunny filmmaking is an art form though.
Agreed!
It's a guy with a camera, a drone, and a gimbal, masturbating.
Its the perfect example of how to caraft an meaningful stroy and show it to the 🌎.
Most importantly there is a very powerful message here.
Its been almost 3 years, the world is struggling again, and I rewatched this and the relevance of this video just struck me, again. Thank you Peter Mckinnon
Stunning film Peter, from the beautiful shots to the narration. Amazing to see that someone like you, who was a huge audience, chooses to tell stories like these. Loved it man 👊🏼
ILAN LAMPL me too
Peter this was especially touching to me. I spent two years of my life in Kenya and it's awesome to see you highlight issues like this. Asante sana! Nimefurahi kabisa.
wow u know swahili thanks man we love our country and language it is our home.
Swahili on point. Umekaribishwa tena.
Thanks for representing/Wakilisha. your swahili is on point, karibu tena kaka
asante sana msee. Nakuja January usijali!!!
asante msee. Tuko pamoja. Nitarudi usijali
Ted Forbes from "The Art of photography" once said : "The world needs art that matters." The movie you just made fits that description to a "T". Amazing movie not only visually but on the subject also!!! Keep up the awesome inspiring work!!! One day I hope to make movies and photos as good as you do!!! Thank you!!!
I lived in Kenya for 3 years, and this film maked me almost cry because of the reality of the message and because I've seen it trought my eyes. Thanks for this film and continue like that please.
First things first, I absolutely loved how you portrayed my home country.
From the traffic in the first scenes to the absolute juxtaposition of drought and rainy season.
The only thing I would like to add on is that in the very iconic shot of the stitched up plastic bowl is that in the major cities, they actually pour molten plastic over the crack on to of the stitches, so you can still use it as intended.
I haven't seen anybody say anything about it yet, so I will. The sound work in this is incredible! The attention to detail - with the cuts and camera movements there are little accompanying transitional sounds that just show great care has been put in to this. Well done Peter!
My take...the lighting is heavenly...the grip and 4k slow motions swept me...drone shots...and just when the boy stood to walk for the first time made me feel part of it...I'd love to contribute with world vision... It was a hope...begged for
Thank you very much! I worked hard on the sound :)
Thid video and its message were beautiful. Story well told, it touched me
Hans Wouters dude jouw video’s zijn anders ook pretty sweeeet 👌
I don't know how i'd missed this before. It's incredible

I am from India and in 5 years I aspire to be a filmmaker like you.
*By being like you I don't mean copying from you*
But helping people. Giving the society a message
I just hope to improve myself everyday and carve out myself from the coal that I am.
Best wishes to you and to every aspiring creators out there❤
Mr IY he is my inspiration too...and often copy the way he talks in his vlogs....good to see he got some Indian fans out here 😊😊
Hi Mr IY I am from India...
love from Belgium
We share a lot of things!
Mr McKinnon is my inspiration too... and aslo I'm from kolkata, india🤗🙃
Wow Pete, This is So Powerful! Glad you were able to shed some light on this with your Talents, Amazing Video Brother!
Incredible Film! Really enjoyed it. Loved the story telling. Wish I could have seen it at Buffer, but hopefully next year!
Not sure why people would dislike this Heart warming video!
its a beautiful film - love Peter's work and all he shares, but.... my guess is - world vision associated.
I had a family member used to work with them. . . she wouldn't again.
there's a lot more than meets the eye, especially with "charity" organisations, and especially when governments get involved.
world vision - far from a "non-profit" organisation. but I will say, a small fraction of the money raised is seen, eventually, by the people in this video. thats nice. sadly... its not enough. I should be saying 90% + f $$ raised goes to the African crisis. its corrupt and a large amount of our donations also goes in to the politics and parties over there. there are true non profit / full charity extremely small admin costs & volunteer based charities out there, I was involved with one recently. they do exist - but, clearly world vision is not one of them.
nice video though.
There is always 269 Dickheads in the world!
racists
Because Almost all foreign filmmakers only film poverty and drought in Africa which isn't the only thing Africa has to offer...We've got diverse culture, beautiful places, wildlife why don't they film that more?
the point is not to show what Africa has vs doesnt have. For instance, you can film the vegas strip, but then you can also film the ghetto behind it, which a the end of the day, is someone's reality. I think that's the point of the video, to show that reality to others.
Probably the best video I've seen in a while. You're legendary Pete and the same can be said for the video.
Anubhav Roy I can really relate to your thoughts on this #Legendary
Proud of you Pete!
happy to see him here!
Peter*
who are you they're friends lol
Amazing
It's amazing how you can tell different stories with just a camera, the emotions and feeling. Amazing piece!
This is so unbelievably beautiful. I wish I could watch more films such as this... Thank you Peter McKinnon for sharing this with the world!
Peter Bucket list must be: hit 1 Mil on UA-cam, Help fix hunger crisis. Keep it up man!
I strongly believe that this is the quality and greatness that the world and UA-cam as well need. And that's the reason you're so far Pete, my favorite UA-camr and Content Creator. Amazing work. Keep it up!!
you almost make me cry man, just amazing under 6mins the best short film ever hands down brother
You know what brings tears to my eyes. This shot at 0:57
The rice is cooking, and the kid is watching eagerly from the window, eagerly waiting for a meal. A meal many of us are fortunate to have. No fancy video effects, no fancy transition. Pure raw reality. Well done Peter
This was a great man. Inspiring and heartfelt.
I admire what you do and I aspire to something like it.
God bless.
Really loving what Wold vision and creators like Peter are doing 🙏
Wow peter, you gained a whole new level of my respect, honestly amazing. I love you even more for being involved in projects like this!
I lived in a Mozambican village for 10 years of my life and everything i saw here just reminded me so much of that. The people, the struggle for food, the droughts and suffering. But also the continuous joy of the people, and i think you said it really beautifully how we think happiness is owning things. It really isn't. I had to move but the people there and that entire country will always have a place in my heart. Thank you.
Peter this is really like on another echelon of cinematography that I've never seen in UA-cam before. Seriously astonishing work, I feel mesmerized.
EidanMA Sam kolder...
I feel like he should be doing much bigger things than UA-cam... Eg feature films
THANK YOU for this comment, just watched and that channel is everything I've been looking for on yt
You videos have been inspiring me in many ways. . . and I am very sure there are many people like me. . You have real talent in capturing life through those lenses. .
Randomchannel Sam Kolder has beautiful and amazing visuals but cinematography is more than visuals; it’s about storytelling. The story portrayed in this video is really amazing and Peter did an amazing job approaching it. A lot better than most of what I’ve seen from Kolder
Miss Africa! So much nostalgia!
This was beautiful man!! I feel like I say this on all of your videos but you really are such an inspiration to us! My husband and I absolutely love your work!!
Best film I’ve seen on this subject. I’ve been raised in a church that showed videos of regions in need my whole life. You have a rare gift of your perspective. Thank you.
AMAZING! After watching this I just want to travel the world and make short films like you!
I just want to hand deliver food and water... but the filming was epic too.
Wow! Peter, you’ve done a great job 👍
Bro was soo sick to watch this on the big screen with you!! Cannot wait for more hangs in the future!!
Thanks brother! SO pumped!
This is to the comment section, Sawyer Hartman and Peter McKinnon. I am part of the non-profit organization known as Engineers Without Borders. We started this project in March of this year (2017), and we are working on helping to improve the drought in Kenya by building water systems that can pump water to nearby community's. We are starting in Irkaswaa, Kenya and this year we are officially starting to assemble the water system. I am imploring you to consider helping us tackle this crisis. Here is a link where you can see more of our story and to donate if you so desire.support.ewb-usa.org/fundraise?fcid=1201113 Thank you so much!
Please like and share!
i simply don't understand why someone will just dislike no matter how inspiring the video is...
Amazing shots 😍
I Couldn’t Even Describe How Good This Film Was
Absolutely gorgeous man. Proper justice to a people who work to live. Just simply live. I appreciate your work.
Your my favorite filmmaker now. first For Her, then this for US. You seem like a good dad and a good husband and a good friend. A true citizen for mankind, a good man of our times.
The only word that can describe this is:
Amazing
Benni Agreed!
I am glad that you chose Africa. I hope you did great at Buffer Festival!
I just want to thank you for sharing your film "the bowl"(I literally cried), I live in East London, South Africa and the droughts here are also pretty. I'm a 13 year old kid who has raised R28000 ($2046) for anti-rhino poaching. My mom rinse my Facebook page Rolling Rhions if you are interested. I'm also quite into photography but I want to be an accountant and donate money to under privileged people. That video really inspired me.
From the bottom of my heart... Thank you.
Honestly Peter McKinnon- you raise the bar. You encourage me to refine my craft as a young filmmaker. You encourage me to go and make art, to raise hearts through beauty, and help people to become truly great through the art produced. Thank you. Seriously!
had to watch it again ... ok ! you got me i've watched it a dozen times ... Amazing Peter.. I admire you.
I come back to watch this video every so often to get inspired when I lose a little. never fails, thanks man.
It's so cool to see everything you teach us come together in a film. Also an amazing story!
I still stay wordless. It's just WOW. The filmmaking, the subject, all are so amazing...
Beautiful 5 Minutes! So good, unbelievable
In all respects, best thing I've ever seen on UA-cam
Simply powerful.
We're in East Africa at the moment, just arrived inTanzania from Zambia and the people are so incredible and so resilient. You summarised it perfectly in this beautiful film.
respect for this film... resect for this country...these people are fighters. they fight for their lives every day. Peter
First of all, wow. This gave me chills.
Second, I love the drum beat you added at the end when you first bumped the kiddo.
Keep doing you. You’re so good at it.
I found you through Casey like two days ago. I am binging your content like it's Stranger Things 3!
me too since I found his channel.. I have learned a lot.....
These were 5 well spent minutes.Thank you. This side of the planet should remind us that life is a gift and the way you treat it and all people around us shows who we are every day.Give us more videos like that.
For the first few minutes I just thought it was gonna be a another cool travel video with some HQ footage and energetic music, but then the voice of PETE came up. I've got to say it's not only a good film but a moving film. I don't live in Kenya but I have seen some similar condition in India. Last year in Rajasthan and Tamilnadu hundreds and hundreds of farmers committed suicide because of the draught. Government could easily prevented that by giving some loans as Government had the money and that'was what the farmers asked for but it didn't happen. We can't do anything against the nature but sometimes or most of the times we don't do what we can and I believe there is a a huge difference between CAN'T and DON'T. Best wishes and love for the people of Kenya.
+King Arthur I totally agree with you. I am an Indian too though I don't live in Rajasthan or Tamilnadu. Nut wait, you don't have to go too far, the conditions of villages in Bihar and Bengal is terrible. Gov is USELESS.
Right. Those f**king people only take the power to have money, they don't think about the people who have given them the power. Those people spend money on what is not necessary. I hope things will change.
Yes all we can do is just hope.
Nice points guys.
Hey +a for apple don't get too much aggressive on "those people", you still live here aren't you? Just be careful about your life, you know what I mean :-D
This film made me cry 😭😭😭
Rohan Dutta me too bro
Really heart touching. 😢
What an amazing film.... the way the story was captured just blew me away.
Finallyyy the kind of video I was waiting for 😀
you amaze, me you move me ... goose bumps .. this is your calling .. i am inspired to be all i can be because of you.....Thank You.
Bless Wilfred... 🙏😢
This is gorgeous Peter. It made me cry. Artistry + activism is one hell of a purpose.
This is the impact video can have, this is moving. 💯
Kenyans watching this, we gotta show love by contributing man, its our home mates
Wow! This is amazing! Your film is better than most many films from Hollywood.
This is one of the first videos I saw from Peter McKinnon that made me subscribe instantly. Amazing story, filming, editing, heart, good job!
Great work as usual Peter!
Well done good sir!
I've watched that video at least 10 times in the past year. I'm always so amazed of the work you have put in it, the heartwarming story you are telling us, the beautiful images I saw, the amount of time it must have taken you to come up with such an incredible film...
Amazing Peter, just beautiful. Thank you for being my biggest inspiration
I am in tears. I have been inspired. I thank you for being who you are and making what you make.
Prob my new favorite thing you've done, dude this is so inspiring to showcase the viewpoint of people from all over, realllly well done
Could you make a video on tips to make sequences flow. I noticed that was one of the strongest points of this film. Also I love the message here
You are my inspiration Peter. When I'm feeling down, and I don't want to push through the depression, I put on one of your short films, and I get the strength to carry on. Thanks Brother.
so much respect to this film ~!
Wow this is amazing! Just found your channel through your Amsterdam video with Casey. I am going to schare this with my friends now. Cheers!
I dropped four tears watching this video. What an amazing film Peter, well done.
David Munoz same dude.. straight up cried
You're not alone.
I've been to Kenya. I've seen and filmed the poverty and the sick children. I've seen the violence and the (hidden) opulence. But your film still brought me to tears. It evoked a lot of memories. Great production - well done.
Always inspiring...damn whole new level of pete...
Now to shoot myself! (figuratively)
🎥🔥
SHOOT 📽/🔫 XD

SYDNEEEEYYY AUSTRALIAA , hi ben haha
Man, grew up in Kenya. Spent the first 13 years of my life there as a missionary kid; in love with the people and culture. Haven't been back in a long time but things like this are good reminders of the beautiful, joyful people fighting in hard places that most people don't give a second thought to.
Epic work Peter
Nothing to say , everything is perfect. I love it
This is powerful WOW
More like this, please! Too many people are forgetting that Africa is still in a big crisis. There was Live Aid in the 80ies and few Documentaries over the last few decades, but not much has changed.
A platform like UA-cam and talents like Peter can move this back into Focus - thank you for doing this!!
I wanna be able to create content like Peter Mckinnon when I grow up!!!! This was amazing!!
Amazing
All the dislikes are Africans! They hate it when the world only sees them this way. But anyway, lets not forget that this was an amazing Short film. Well done Peter, you did a great job.
So well done Peter. Captured a beautiful country and a beautiful people perfectly.
Great job. One month filming, three months editing at least. Awesome!
❤️ you Pete
Awesome film, and the history is so sad but with hope to see these people enjoy the rights to live like other people without need.
Thanks peter!! I wish you could know how much you inspire me... the world needs more people like you for sure ! Thanks again!
Dude I am Kenyan can't believe i didn't get to see you, anyway goos work and come back soon
